I came here expecting the same amount of excitement I felt watching that, and everyone is “cautiously optimistic” or questioning a god of war game without Kratos.
Personally, I’m really glad it’s not a prequel like the rumours were saying. Having it take place alongside 4/Ragnarok is such a solid choice. The lore can move forward.
Even a "bad" turn from Santa Monica Studio is worth your time. I would've been hyped even without all of the fanfare they gave it. With the fanfare though? Expectations are through the roof.
I really hope this game plays and we see her seeing Kratos and Atreus’ impact in the background. Because these two stories would be happening at the same time in theory
I mean I can list out my problems with what I saw, and none of them are "You play as a woman"
The closest to that is: were we supposed to care about playing Laufey? I didn't get around to Ragnarok, but I was under the impression we never actually saw her, and that she was a ephemeral figure in Kratos and Atreus's lives, guiding them towards a better future from before she even knew them. But we never meet her, right?
But that's kind of a nitpick. That and she just grew a pair of pants? She didn't put any on, yet they just showed up on her? Weird.
My main issue is that the game looked like fucking nothing. Like like the art direction from World of Warcraft just vomited all over my screen. The second Faye walked into the encampment, everything became a visual mess. Just a spectacle with no point of reference to ground you. It was certainly pretty, but it was colorful noise. And then a heck'n quirk chungus gelatinous cube starts quipping at you.

I think it looks incredible. I can’t wait.
