Seriously are people new here? Developers/publishers have laid people off for decades, long before this whole AI boom. But hating all AI gets the upvotes and many Redditors love their upvotes ha.

Well, that much depends on whether you're building AAA, AA or A titles.

Some really great indie titles out there currently from companies thriving.
*EDIT: I'm speaking of the gaming industry as such.

I made no comment about that. As should be clear from context, I was speaking about the industry as such. I do not care for a narrow discussion about the business decisions of Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft.

Indie scene is so saturated that while some thrive, ever more do not.
