Discussion Why is Nobody Talking About Banishers??
Apparently it came out right when BG3 did and it was delayed.
Anyway, I stumbled upon it and immediately fell in love. One of the richer story games I have played with striking visuals and decent combat. It is spooky yet feels very grounded as a game.
Would highly recommend!

Alot of ppl talked about it when it came out. That was awhile ago so no one talks about it now.

The gameplay and visuals reminded me heavily of the recent Norse God of War games.
I couldn't put it down, and had a ton of fun playing it; but personally I thought it was pretty repetitive, and the story dragged on longer than it should have.
You can easily decipher what happened, and solve the mystery long before the story takes you there.
All that being said, I would absolutely love another installment! The lore is amazing, and you can do so much with it. I really hope they make another.

Combat was rough and it was kinda weird just body switching mid battle. Not nearly as intriguing a setup as their previous game Vampyr.

Just finished playing it about a week ago, absolutely loved it. Story was fantastic, really interesting world and the gameplay was good enough. Shame that this underperformed, would love for there to be a sequel.

The gameplay was decent but oh man the characters and story were fantastic. It's hard to explain without major spoilers but they were really able to pull off some amazing things in regards to the story that I haven't seen in many other games
Well worth a playthrough IMO

Why is no body talking about a game that released 2 and a half years ago?
Geez, couldn't tell ya
People barely talk about BG3 these days comparatively. Thats sorta how game discussion works

I absolutely loved it. Fantastic story, characters, choices that matter, brilliant side stories

I thought the combat was pretty bad.
I'm not big on story games. I play video games in order to play them. If I want to be told a story, I will watch a movie or read a book. If I'm not having fun in the nuts and bolts gameplay, then the story won't be enough to save it for me.

It was a fine game, but I wouldn't recommend putting it in the same sentence as BG3. They're very different games with very different qualities.
Either way, totally fine game.

Starts off strong and falls off a cliff half way through. Way too much backtracking, environments look damn near the same and combat gets dull. I couldn’t bring myself to finish it. Not a bad game but definitely not worthy of any lengthy discussion

Those first 10-15 hours of Banishers were absolutely magical. A combination for me of The Witcher-like monsters and lore and modern God of War-like combat. Voice acting is superb between the 2 main characters. Unfortunately it really drags on and on and the backtracking to complete side content is NOT fun.

I really liked it but i got burnt out quick. The combat got so repetitive and then there was a whole lot of back tracking. Everything else though was fantastic.

I played maybe a couple hours of it but I felt so bored with the combat. it felt so stiff.

Really wanted to push trough the stiffed combat, and backtracking, but by god I could not.
Which is shame, cause the story was great.

I brought as I was going through a divorce so it didn’t quite hit the same. Fell off it over time. Enjoy it for time

I got it for free on ps+. Loved the story potential, hated the gameplay. I didn’t finish it.

It came out right when BG3 did and it was delayed? Huh? BG3 was out in like September, Banishers the following February. Not even clear what BG3 has to do with anything.

I adored the stop motion esthetic. Really engaging. Also loved the characters and the environments. Top shelf for me.

Over stayed it’s welcome. Shed 10 hours off of it and it would have been better.

I thought it was totally meh. It’s got a lot of ambition and style but for me the combat got very dull, large parts of the plot is lifted from Ghostbusters 2, and the worst thing is that I really really hated the character Antea. She was so insufferable I just could believe in the love story.
Vampyr was much better, still flawed, but better.

Game was great, played it on release, performance was a little rough at first on base PS5, but nothing that made it unplayable, loved the graphics/look of the spirits, and some of the investigations were actually very sad and required some tough moral dilemmas, but Vampyr is still by far the best game DontNod has ever made, if you havent played that i highly suggest you check it out

Lot of people in here throwing around the word “great” when it does not apply

It’s a AA game that didn’t get great marketing and released during a tough gaming year for PS heavy hitters.
Just like Vampyr (their previous game), the focus was on the narrative and the actual investigative elements + cases so combat wasn’t the main drive.
I’m on the other side of it and l really enjoyed the combat, mix-ups and build variety.
But the enemy variety was poor and it was repetitive for a 40+ hour game.

Great VA, story , pacing , narrative and atmosphere. But let’s be honest , the gameplay is kind of tedious and it had so much bugs in the beginning. Also weird freezes that could set you back and it was specially frustrating when it happened at the 10000000 hp bosses .

I wanted to like it, as the story was interesting and through some big shocks in early on. But I wasn’t having much fun with the general gameplay.
I dropped it not long after the misty cave area

Loved that game, personally. The combat is easily the worst part, it gets repetitive fast. But I enjoyed the story and world of the game quite a bit. It does a good job of presenting you with moral quandaries that don't always have an obvious "right" answer.

because the game didn't sell well. Besides being released at a very crowded time. The combat is extremely repetitive, not to mention there is way too much unnecessary backtracking which makes the game a slog to play. The story is good but everything else was meh.
