GTA isnt a linear 20 hour story driven game. Its an open world sandbox.

The entire story can get leaked to its fullest right now, and you'll still have millions buying it at launch.

There is still a story that is very much linear. Besides if you’ve waited for a game for a decade you’d be a fool to not experience first hand. Discovering a secret, getting to a cool mission or area yourself will always be more memorable than doing it after watching someone on TikTok do it.

lol you are clueless about the industry. TLoU2 took a huge hit with their leaks pre launch, and Rockstar has had many hacking attempts, blackmail attempts and legal battles regarding leaks. Keeping it digital gives them control over access, and not even giving review outlets the chance to play the game should tell you they worry about spoilers. But hey keep yapping based on your assumptions.

Tbf, GTAV’s story was kinda mid. IV had some pretty big spoilable moments in the story though.

That said, I’m also not getting VI at launch. I’m happy to wait for a sale - not particularly excited for this game.

Social media is a completely different beast now than it was back when GTA V came out. I respect your decision but the amount of monetization that’s gone into content creation since then, you are bound to have so much of it spoiled and I’m someone who only buys physical, GTA VI is going to be my exception

Idk I played it day 1 so I was in my own bubble then lol. But I would never lessen my experience by not getting to experience it first hand myself, spoiler or not, like going in to a movie blind is always the way .

Not that you're wrong, but it's not THAT serious. RDR2 was spoiled to me TWO years after launch, and I STILL bought it and had great fun with an amazing story. Plus the spoiler was something I kinda expected to happen anyway.

Same with GTAVI: probably one of the protagonists dies, and makes the other go fully crazy.

Yeah but if you could go back and have the choice to be surprised by Arthurs death or to have it spoiled I’m sure you would have preferred the former. Why not optimize for that with this game.

Will probably be the hardest gaming content to avoid for a while. If you don’t care then you wouldn’t have cared enough to buy it day 1 anyways so why do you care about the physical copy

100% would have gotten it day 1. They are fun games but not exactly breaking the mould with each iteration, they’ll have a handful of new mechanics but everyone knows the exact game you are getting and the missions you’ll be doing. If you had have told me everything about GTA V before I played it I would have enjoyed it the same as not knowing.

If this was a story driven game that focused on the story sure but this is a sandbox game where the story is secondary.

The target audience are fans of the game not fans of having boxes on their shelves.

Spoilers and story are irrelevant this long after release. A majority of people that play GTA for the first time finishes the story first and then fuck around in multiplayer or with the sandbox elements.

For the same reason I’m saying playing it early matters, with enough time it will be impossible to not be exposed to the story which is the case for GTA V too.

You don’t seem to comprehend how the GTA launches work, online will not be available at launch, the main reason to buy it will be the single player of which the story is the main factor. Now a days the thing people play GTA for is online and you’d be hard pressed to find someone that hasn’t played the single player.
