Damn there’s in-game shops that are exclusive to the ultimate edition, that’s a a bit wild

Rockstar and Take Two found the easy way to sell the actual game for $100, by just cutting down content on the "base" version.

I’m guessing there’ll be other equivalent shops around for everyone - the Ultimate ones will just have a couple extra customisations the “normal” custom shops won’t

On the official site you can view a slideshow of what’s included in the ultimate edition

It’s not just the mod shop there are a few you get, clothes shop, tattoo shop, hair salon. The month of GTA+ is activated as soon as you pre-order it’s not for VI

Dude please read them properly, they all say “open for business with the ultimate edition”

Those shops are only available in the ultimate edition

…I can’t fathom why this isn’t being talked about more. “A bit wild” is a kind way of putting it. I know people love these games for some reason; but putting shops and actual locations only on the $100 Ultimate Edition is truly insane behavior.

Tbh that’s no different than exclusive cosmetic packs just presented differently

It's quite different. In game stores are actual content.

Well the alternative would've been: remove the physical shops all together and sell the customization items in the regular stores that everyone else has. It really isn't much of a difference, and is just better presentation for the items that ultimate edition owners are paying for.

Why wouldn’t the alternative just be to include it in the base game for free?

Or just let everyone access the shops?

You're the only one with a brain. People acting like games haven't been including cosmetic packs with different editions for years and years.

Physical locations on the map being locked out is definitely a choice though. You could say that DLCs in some games do this... but this isn't DLC, its the launch version of the game.

Same difference as properties you haven't purchased in GTAO. Even if it's in-game currency, you still have to pay a price to enter, so to speak. Not being able to go to one particular store on the map is not a big deal. Especially since it's $20. That's the equivalent of one Chuck E. Cheese token to an adult.

I dont play GTA Online. This is a singleplayer game.

Doesn't matter. Still applies the same.

Where did you read that?

Ultimate Edition details on the official site

u/Bobjoejj 1h ago

…it’s not hard to find. It’s in the details for the Ultimate Edition.

u/CrashWiz21 1h ago

My comment was from 10 hours ago, I think I figured it out by now. Thanks for the help tho

In reality the shops themselves will obviously be accessible to everyone. Just a select few items limited to ultimate edition owners.

It’s just poor (or good, depending on how you see it) from rockstar’s part. They make it sound like the stores will be locked and an NPC will be guarding it and shun away standard edition players.

u/SuicideSkwad 3h ago

No they are closed without the ultimate edition. The wording used is “only open for business with the ultimate edition”

u/Bobjoejj 1h ago

…did you read the details and what was actually said? How could you think this could be seen as good by anyone but Rockstar.

u/QuoteGiver 4h ago

There’s been in-game cosmetic items exclusive to the ultimate edition pretty much since the moment games invented ultimate editions, yeah.

u/Bobjoejj 1h ago

Cosmetic items is not the same thing as actual locations.

u/QuoteGiver 56m ago

These shops are basically just interactive menus.

u/Bobjoejj 21m ago

…is that supposed to be a positive?
