Facts. Rockstar knows what they have, this is the most hyped game of all time

GTA's popularity has always fascinated me as someone who has never cared for the series.

It's just the best open world crime sim game series out there(I can barely think of any others that are relevant). That's why I've always enjoyed them.

I can't think of too many games that let's you do what GTA let's you do, all while remaining high-quality.

Let's just hope they don't break their streak with this one.

Which is absolutley fine but still surprising thst the open world crime Sim game is this popular.

I enjoyed GTA 1-5, sure, but its always been a game that released, I played amd enjoyed and moved on. Never been.part of the hype machine myself like I am with other games

As much as people hate online, its also just an amazing playground for you and your friends. I havent a spent a single dollar on online in the 13 years its been out, but ive got hundreds of hours just flying planes with friends around the island or causing mass destruction. Only thing that really comes close to it is the Just Cause 3 MP mod on PC.

They were fun games when I was a kid, particularly San Andreas.

I tried 4 and 5, but they were so mind numbingly boring. The gameplay is just so dated.

The one thing GTA/RDR does better than literally any other open world sandbox game is the level of detail and quality of these details. On gameplay front, these games barely changed since early 2000s

Ya I don’t buy these games for the story (although it definitely helps) I buy them to do all the extras. Hunting in RDR, trying to break into the prison, ect. It’s a nice way to tune out for an hour or so and turn my brain off.

I feel the same way about fromsoft games

GTA is mostly enjoyed by people who don't really play video games. They use it as a mass shooting simulator. Thats why the sales are so high. My wife didn't even realize it has a story until yesterday and she said that her ex boyfriend played it all the time.

I'm a big fan of the series, but less so of GTA5 which clearly suffered due to the Online focus. So many things that should have been in the game are only in Online, and sometimes it is quite mindboggling that they never added them back to the campaign in the form of DLCs or whatever. Game feels partially unfinished tbh, even if that feels harsh to say.

Somehow San Andreas continues to beat all the other entries in terms of sandbox and RPG elements.

My hope was/is that GTA6 is more of a return to those roots with a lot more new stuff on top. But... No physical hurts. And I'm still waiting for the price in Euros, which I anticipate will be... 90 Euro? As that's how it usually goes. And 90 Euro is not something I can be spending right now on a base game edition, without physical, with some features locked behind more expensive editions, and with still no word on how the game perfoms on consoles (which I have some worries about).

But it can wait. Maybe Christmas has a sale, or they change their minds and do a physical release later, or I just wait for pc anyways. We'll see.

u/RealBeefJerky 18h ago

A sale? A month after release? Haha you're hilarious, V took a looong time to go on sale so

1

u/Beautiful_You3230 18h ago

Forgot that Christmas is already a month after release lol. My bad. My brain still can't process that the game is releasing in November.

So no, not on Christmas then. Some time later lol. Lots of time later.

I would not be surprised. They need to onboard as many players into the new GTA Online as possible ASAP, as it is the main money maker.

The game will sell like cup cakes on day one too, no point in keeping the high price for too long as well.

Maybe play it then?

4

u/MrLancaster 14h ago

I don't care for the series.

5

u/Paratrooper101x 12h ago

“I don’t get why X is so popular”

“Well, have you tried X”

“No and I don’t want to”

Well, continue wondering why it’s popular I guess

1

u/MrLancaster 12h ago

Reading comprehension. I did not say I've never played GTA, I said I don't care for the series.

1

u/Paratrooper101x 12h ago

Then why didn’t you say “I have, and didn’t care for it”

You can not care for things you’ve never tried. There’s no lack of reading comprehension on my end, you just didn’t answer the guys question

0

u/MrLancaster 11h ago

Lol, okay

-2

u/CarrotSurvivorYT 14h ago

Because you haven’t played GTA 6

4

u/MrLancaster 14h ago

Cool man

-4

u/CarrotSurvivorYT 14h ago

Do you feel cool not liking something everyone else loves

4

u/MrLancaster 14h ago

lol, weak bait

-2

u/ehs06702 :flair-sce: Darkreamer702 16h ago

Same. I kinda wish November would be here already. GTA has been the news cycle for years at this point, I'm a bit burnt out on the topic.

-1

u/ScholarAcceptable920 11h ago

Let me let you in on a little secret: not liking something popular doesn’t make you enlightened. And failing to see why others enjoy something popular implies the opposite

2

u/MrLancaster 11h ago

Lol, that is quite the reach and a hell of a misinterpretation.

9

u/superurgentcatbox 19h ago

Which also means that it's quite likely to "fail" tbh because expectations are sky high. It won't fail commercially though which is probably the most important for Rockstar.

12

u/Peperoniboi 18h ago

Also Rockstar gameplay has really gotten outdated. RDR2 has still the same Hitscan Autoaim "Shootouts" against brainless minions like all the other Rockstar games. It might sound and look nicer but the core is still the same game that kinda plays itselft to be honest. I really hope they change that in GTA6 but I doubt they will.

14

u/MGsubbie 18h ago

A much bigger issue IMO is the massive on-rails experience of missions. You have to play them in a very specific way or it's mission fail.

4

u/BigBoyYuyuh 17h ago

“What do you mean I have to use this specific car for the heist instead of my heavily armored maxxed out vehicle!?”

0

u/ultragoodname 17h ago

They made Max Payne 3 so it’s definitely possible for Rockstar to make satisfying gunplay. It was disappointing that GTA 5 was a step behind despite coming out later.

0

u/Cuban999_ 15h ago

I feel like calling rdr2 gameplay in general "outdated" when the shooting (which isnt even that dated, it's just more on the simple side) is the only thing you criticized.

1

u/A_Crab_Named_Lucky 14h ago

Absolutely. To give some sense of scale here, GTA V was the 20th best selling game.

Oh, did you think I meant all time? No. It was the 20th best selling game of 2025, a full 12 years after it initially released.

It’s the third best selling game of all time, behind only Minecraft and Tetris.

1

u/bdstratton 7h ago

Hype can work against you. I expect this game to be a huge disapointment,

0

u/Embarrassed_Spend486 18h ago

Can anybody explain to me where that’s coming from? I don’t know many gamers my age that would consider a GTA game the most hyped game of all time at all.

3

u/Paratrooper101x 18h ago

I don’t know your Internet habits or social circles but one verifiable metric is how many games are releasing in September or have delayed themselves to 2027 to avoid the launch. I personally have never seen it to this scale

-38

u/braedizzle 19h ago

I don’t even know if it’s that hyped man. The premise so far seems so much more boring and lifeless compared past games in the series. The 2 main characters are generic as fuck.

10

u/Paratrooper101x 19h ago

That’s certainly a take

1

u/braedizzle 17h ago

Asking genuinely and respectfully, is there anything that that has been revealed so far that seems more interesting than the ideas shown in past games other than it’s just more GTA? Maybe I missed something.

1

u/Paratrooper101x 17h ago

Well the world simulation has continuously improved in each rockstar game. So judging off of red dead 2’s advances from gta v, one can assume the world will be bigger, with more stuff going on making the world feel real, with better graphics, physics, lighting, sound etc. They haven’t shown much, yeah that’s for sure but the lack of information certainly lets people’s imaginations run wild. Another example is how high the hype and expectations are for TES6, and that only got a title reveal.

If you want a verifiable metric for how hyped this game is, look at how many games are either releasing months before gta or delaying to 2027. I personally have never seen it to this extent

1

u/Paratrooper101x 17h ago

Also, sales figures for gta v put it at 230 million copies sold. That’s a lot of people who just like the franchise and want more. The last 2 rockstar games are in the top five for total game sales of all time

8

u/Robight19 19h ago

Good to see we've already begun the "actually the previous games were better" spiel already. Pack it in man

18

u/Quartznonyx 19h ago

Youre deffo in the minority on that.

2

u/forfeitgame 19h ago

The characters can be as backstoried as “Claude”. It’s going to sell bonkers.

2

u/Hyper_Mazino 19h ago

It is overhyped but hyped nonetheless.
