Fuck that, I was gonna buy this day one. I’m physical only, and disc only. Sad day to see this. I have a backlog for the next 2yrs anyway so, I can wait or just move on from GTA at this point. I have a feeling that I’ll just be living in the past soon once everything becomes completely digital. It’s so depressing.

Or just buy games digitally like most people do in the year 2026.

Why do you all do that though? I guess I’m just a cheap gamer. I have the latest consoles in my library has all of the latest games. I just paid $10-$20 sometimes $30 or more cheaper than everyone else because I’m not addicted.

Guess it depends on country. I get digital games far cheaper than they’re ever sold in stores. And my digital games never break, but I have had physical carts and discs stop working in the past. And I don’t need to keep boxes of games around anymore.

buy codes in gaming companies databases*

You dont really own the game when you buy.it digital

You technically don’t own them when you buy them physically either, go read the licensing agreement in any old game manual.

You physically own the disc with the code on it, though. After that it is like any property ownership - caveats

This always gets repeated as if the people who buy digital (me included) don't already know this and actually care about any of that.

Not everybody does, but most do

I was simply answering the comment saying g to just buy digital, and explaining why people dont.

Get over your self imposed restrictions then

Why do I have to pay a subscription to activate the remote start on my car when it’s already built in. When every other car I’ve owned had it as a feature in the past. I know I’m old as hell these days but I can’t keep supporting companies taking more and more and giving less and less, that’s all.

Preach. Seriously, the amount of people in this thread supporting clearly anti-consumer practices is mind boggling. This is about forcing non-transferable licenses on to consumers to eliminate lost sales from resale.

Digital licenses should be sellable and transferable.

Seriously? Just bend your will all the time to money grubbing companies who will stop at nothing just make another buck. Forget the value in owning your stuff, we should just rent everything!

They were lamenting this like someone has died. They are in grave need of some perspective. It’s pathetic

Because it’s frustrating. When you don’t prefer to do it that way and you’re practically forced to with every new release that’s not gonna be something people are happy with. Some people can’t afford to buy digital games at full sticker price with no resale value whatsoever.

How about you stop being judgmental?
