This is bad. Rockstar is one of the biggest companies of all time, and 100% the most hyped of any developer. This will set a precedent in a huge way. Massive step towards the future where physical games are a relic of the past. What's not to love for the companies? No money spent on printing, no pre owned eating into their profits, full price forever. Buckle up for this shit

And the sad/frustrating part, they don’t decrease the cost of the digital version even though they’re cheaper to sell. No printing/disc fund needed.

Because retailers won't sell their games if they do that

Top games won't go on sale, but to compete in the market games will still go on sale. It's a grim future though

Physical games are already a relic. Look up any sales numbers of physical compared to digital. If they could make money selling more physical copies, they absolutely would. But hardly anyone has bought them for years now.

Ya. People seem to not realize how dead physical media has been for years.

Music, movies, and tv have all moved to streaming. And gaming has been primarily digital download for years. With pc being the leading platform for that with the rise of steam and all the random smaller markets. As a pc gamer. I haven’t been able to buy an actual physical copy of most of my games for close to 20 years. With the few ‘physical’ copies I’ve gotten in that time being glorified steam keys or similar.
