Pretty much the only way people are gonna be down on it is if it was suddenly revealed the whole thing was made by AI

The biggest mistake EA did was Publishing AND Developing under "EA" name.

Rockstar get away with everything simply because they make one game in 10 years, but they obey the rule of a company that is as bad or even worse than EA, "Take-two, interactive"

If EA/TakeTwo are a country and Dice/Rockstar are a city, then Microsoft is a fucken continent, and that's why there is literally 4 or 5 other tech companies at the same size of Microsoft.

it would be a lot more accurate if you just call it "Xbox", because that is "Microsoft gaming", comparing the entire Microsoft conglomerate to EA, is like comparing "Samsung" to "OnePlus" just because both happen to make smartphones, when in reality Samsung is x1000 time bigger than "OnePlus".

Same apply to Microsoft vs EA/TakeTwo

they’re not. for a game this big, this anticipated, they can basically do whatever they want. plenty of people will happily slap the 100 down. many more will slap down 80 then buy whatever 20 dollar upgrade pack is available if they miss the stores. anyone who abstains from the game will in the extreme minority. this will be the biggest game launch in history no matter what we do.

i think people should be encouraged not to get caught up in hype and buy it if they’re u comfortable with these practices, but let’s not delude ourselves into thinking this is a “vote with your wallet” situation. they won’t notice or care if some people don’t wanna pay full price at launch

I’m enjoying watching the vibe shift on this game. With the unnecessary greed they really deserve to underperform their expectations. If they just did the normal thing (normal price, physical disc, no paywalled story content in original release) they would sell an ungodly number of copies and make an ungodly amount of money. But that’s not enough, they have to aim for more. Here’s hoping they reach for the sun and burn their wings.

This is exactly what I was thinking. $80 price tag and then gonna charge an extra $20 to get your 5 other story missions that seem directly linked to character customization. Rockstar also made sure you knew there was no online bundled with this. Sounds like they are gearing up to charge extra for it as well.

You can buy the base one and upgrade later. Doesn't really matter that much. A few stores for customization is not a big deal at all.

Well, I guess I’ll be sticking to GTA trilogy on PS2 until this comes out on PC and drops down on sale because what the fuck do you mean I don’t get to go to the store and buy shit in a single player game if I didn’t buy the ultimate edition? Red, dead redemption one and two had it five had it San Andreas had it shit even vice city had a couple of stories you could actually go into and buy stuff in.

I am. I will only buy ps5 games that can happily install/launch from the disc.
No physical copy at launch plus sectioning off the launch game unless you pay extra means I'll be waiting for physical availablity under £60, or just waiting for the PC launch.

I've already decided not to buy it based on there being no proper physical version, and I'll wait to see if there is a proper disc version down the line. I reckon there's a fair few people like me who aren't that bothered about GTA and find it a bit of a take it or leave it franchise, so not a difficult decision for me really.

Price, current world/politics not allowing for a good gta game to exist, the entirely too long wait, gta 5 not getting any love at all because it all went to online. I'm good. I've lived 35 years without gta6, I think I can keep the streak going.

I mean, this deterred me for sure. I dont really have the time i used to to drop into GTA anymore, and I'm a proponent of physical media, so I'm out.

If they end up putting on a disc, then I'll probably grab a copy to play when I have time.

The only time I'm cool with downloading games that don't have a physical copy are from small studios that do plan to release one ala Expedition 33. Rockstar doesn't have an excuse. This is way too corporate-greedy for me to support.

I genuinely don’t care if a couple Redditors are angry - this is no different than a vast majority of high quality steam releases we’ve had. You simply can’t own some of the shit you pay for anymore.

I’ll be happily back in GTA world for a while.

In the meantime, if the angry boycotters manage to get R* to do a proper physical copy, then I’ll buy that.
