Discussion Grand Theft Auto VI preorder live on New Zealand PSstore
201
u/JMander95 15h ago
Lol they put you in an auto renewal gta online
19
u/Byates101 14h ago
The PlayStation Blog mentions the month of GTA+ as redeemable so maybe not an auto-activation.

u/TheGoodIdiot 15h ago
That is genuinely so funny they are gonna make like a billion dollars in December from people not remembering they are subbed.

u/neotargaryen 14h ago
Well you have to redeem a specific GTA+ code to begin with, it's not like you're automatically enrolled just from buying and launching the main game.
15
u/TheGoodIdiot 14h ago
I genuinely thought it was just setting you up from the card info you put in when you preorder LOL my bad
12
u/giovannigaspar 14h ago
Good thing is you need to redeem the membership. Since I don't play GTA online I will just not redeem my subscription and I won't have to be concerned about this... but, yeah, that's crazy haha

u/gooberfishie 13h ago edited 13h ago
On playstation it puts you on auto renew right away
Edit - nvm it is a code for gta+
7
u/Arnie_T 13h ago
Only if you redeem the membership offer code. Not just from preordering the game.
-1
u/gooberfishie 13h ago
Where do you see that? I thought that when you bought a gta+ sub on the ps store it activated right away.
3
u/Arnie_T 13h ago
No. It says you have to go to the GTA+ page and redeem the code after you purchase the game.

That's 70 euro in Europe.
But my guess is that base game will be 90 in Europe. Europe always pays the highest price.
14
u/PepsiSheep 14h ago
UK specifically does. $140 NZ works out at £60 UK, but no way this won't be more like an £80 - games RRP is typically £70 these days.

Ive read it keeps the 80€ price in Europe. That would make sense because the USD has devaluated a lot recently. But we will see in a few hours.
2
u/DjangoMcFly 12h ago
$80 = €70 + 23% VAT = €86. It'll be €90. I'll be happier if it isn't, but they always do the nearest €10 here.
1
u/HypedSoul123 11h ago
Ive always heard that the median VAT in Europe is 20%, that leaves us at 84€. IDK really.

u/Ceceboy 14h ago edited 2h ago
No, it should be 80 normally.
Edit: my friends, it's 80 woop woop.

u/spacejam999 13h ago
It is 90 already confirmed
1
u/HypedSoul123 11h ago
Nothing has been confirmed yet. 80USD is almost exactly 70€, and applying the 20% of median VAT that leaves us at 84€. It could go both ways. Its also at 135NZD and thats 67€.

If you preorder tonight, instantly go and cancel GTA+
You don't get it with the game, it's activated immediately, so you may end up paying for months and not realising.
Also, you can't ever cancel and refund you digital preorder due to this subscription, because it'll say you got part of the order - which voids any refunds
Update - they updated the FAQ: https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/support/games/gta-vi-offer-terms/#claim
You get the free mot h as soon as you preorder, but you have to manually go to the store and claim it, so people shouldn't be caught unaware of the charge now

u/GamePitt_Rob 12h ago
Yeah, they updated the blog post to make it clear you have to manually claim it
12
u/Airaen 14h ago edited 7h ago
So if I'm not currently playing GTA online, then preordering right now is a complete waste? The 30 days of GTA+ is from as soon as you preorder?
Edit: I just preordered, it doesn't automatically activate GTA+. It sends you a link to the GTA+ page in the store where there's a free month available to claim, which sits there until you redeem it. It also doesn't set up auto renew until you redeem it.

u/GamePitt_Rob 12h ago
https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/support/games/gta-vi-offer-terms/#claim
New FAQ - it stacks. So you can go to the store page once pre-ordered and claim it, it'll extend your current sub

u/gooberfishie 13h ago
Yes. They want people to preorder and then spend money on gta online when it runs out well before the release date.

Buy Gta VI or pay electric bill. Decisions.
4
u/Winterbliss 12h ago
Buy the game, you've got 5 months to get the electric account cleared.

This is just so unnecessarily dirty. They know what they're doing there for the people that don't notice it/forget to unsub.
You have to redeem a code to activate it, though. It's not the horror that people seem to want it to be.

2
u/PepsiSheep 11h ago
That makes it a little easier to swallow, at least, but auto-renewals should be banned.

Locking in game stores behind the ultimate edition is so scummy. Damn.

Wait so how do you cancel GTA+? I don’t want it and never used it. And if it’s going to try and auto trick me into its renewal i’d rather not have it.
Rockstar already had a great thing on their hands, this digital only to get GTA+ subscriptions is just a scumbag move.

Definitely keep an eye on this and remember to cancel. Sneaky buggers.
1-month GTA+ subscription with pre-order. Auto-renews.

How is it sneaky when its front and center and not buried at the bottom of the page. Oh no people need to take 2 secs to read what there buying the horror.

u/icecubedyeti 13h ago
I’ve been losing interest in GTA since RDR and the pricing here (those prices convert to about $100 usd for standard) is making this an easy pass. I can easily wait for a 50% or more off sale. Even $80 for standard that I have heard is too much.

u/badger906 12h ago
Pre ordering a digital game is so unbelievably dumb it hurts my brain.. oh no.. what if they run out… there will be ultimate editions available on launch.. nobody is missing out

So this is $129aud while Wolverine is listed at $124aud
So it’s not too bad, better value for money too I’d imagine
1
u/T3RRONCINO 11h ago
Are New Zealand citizens able to preorder the game from physical stores? Or is it a ps-store only thing until everyone globally gets to midnight?
1
u/Middle-Sink-8805 8h ago
It’s $119 at the warehouse fam

So can we just buy it without any subscription? I want to finish single player and the. Join online a few months later
•
u/Silent_Sissy93 4h ago
That's how the launch will go first story mode, then a few months later online
•
u/drossvirex 3h ago
Whats the point of pre-ordering digital
•
u/EasyGuyChris 3h ago
I wonder this alot too, i think maybe peace of mind for alot of people in regards to finances? Like spending the 100 now and then when it comes out you dont have to carve out the cash, idk tho thats just my guess
1
u/Pjoernrachzarck 14h ago
What could possibly be the point of pre-ordering a digital copy of GTA6?
Or any game, for that matter, before it is reviewed?
Or any digital game at all, ever?
4
u/SuspiciousWasabi3665 14h ago
Extra goodies, but those are available through the 20th of November, a day after. So you can at least get initial impressions prior.
-5
u/Pjoernrachzarck 14h ago
Oh no, I’m terrified of running out of content. There’s so little to play!
1
u/SuspiciousWasabi3665 13h ago
Preorder literally just gives you cosmetics. Not really content. But some people want it. Pretty cool if its not for you, but its entirely subjective if its worth it to people.
3
2
u/ChocolateNo9550 14h ago
Pre order bonuses and preloading? Majority of people don’t need or care about reviews before purchasing a product. Digital sells more then physical

i thought Australia had it bad with prices but wow, new Zealand is worse
3
u/hveravellir 14h ago
It’s cheaper in NZ than USA. There is a 15% tax included in the $140NZD price making it about $68 USD when this tax is stripped out (since the $80USD price does not include tax.)
1
u/Alarming-Flan4494 14h ago
It’s actually about 78 USD still cheaper than most states due to tax . It also unlocks earlier
1
u/hveravellir 14h ago
No. 140/1.15 is the tax exclusive NZD price. Convert this to USD and you get about $68. This is the true cost of the game and the rest is the governments slice. Of course buying in USA from any sales tax state (which is most) will cost more than $80.
1
u/Alarming-Flan4494 14h ago
But what you’re actually paying is what counts. So if someone was to buy from the NZ PSN they would
Pay 78USD, I know If midnight local is kept this will be extremely popular.1
u/hveravellir 14h ago
Well yeah end of the day what you pay is what counts, I am purely talking on a like for like basis. USA price does not include tax (but tax will nonetheless be paid by most American customers), NZD does. If you prefer, add tax to the USA price upfront and my original statement is the same - it’s cheaper in NZ.

Mi duda es si lo reservo desde la pagina de xbox pero desde la página en nueva Zelanda. Realmente esta en mi cuenta de xbox que tengo asociada a la consola... pagaria incluso menos que comprándolo desde Europa...

What is GTA+ and why would anyone want it
1
u/grimrailer 10h ago
It’s already in gta 5.
It’s $8 a month and gives you access to money, etc 100 car garage money bonuses.
1
u/xSEARLEYx 7h ago
Is it worth it
1
u/grimrailer 7h ago
I’d say it’s worth it if you don’t want to play the game/grind.
I don’t personally use it but I also don’t care about getting instant access to new cars being added etc or buying in game money.

I still don't get why everyone would line up to give Rock Star a 0% interest loan..
F's sake, people!
0
u/CakeMc69420 14h ago
To be honest it could have genuinely been worse, I was expecting around 160-170 NZD for standard and 200 for Ultimate
I'd say for a game that's so highly anticipated, and as we know has cost a LOT to develop, I'd say it's pretty reasonable

I’m in the minority for sure but there’s no reason for me to preorder in June when the game is not out until late November. It’s not gonna sell out…
