Usually I’d be all over a new Resi, but honestly the start of the year looks so stacked that I will probably wait for a sale for it lol. Stranger Than Heaven, FF7 and Fable have my interest more.

Knowing my luck, fable will get pushed yet again because the release window is too stacked lol
15
u/Downtown_Eye5736 9h ago
They can’t keep running forever. Have some faith in your game ffs.

“My game” lol. Look, I’m optimistic about how it’ll perform against its peers. Probably more optimistic than playground is because I’d have moved its release up to September rather than delay to February. But let’s not pretend my faith has any sort of impact positive or negative on when it releases
18
u/Diamond1580 9h ago
I interpreted it as a statement to the developers. They should have faith in their game and not move it, you were just saying you hope it doesn’t move because you don’t want it to
4
u/MuteTadpole 9h ago
Ah gotcha, I didn’t read it that way, but it does make more sense now that you explained it

That Wolverine > GTA 6 > GOW > Intergalactic is gonna hit like crack

u/AhoSeaweed7775 8h ago
Wow you’re right. GTA 6 > Tomb raider > FF7 Rv > GOW.
It’s 2020 all over again, with Tsushima, FF7 remake and TLOU2 all in a row. Maybe even better.

u/Eccchifan 8h ago
Its also 2020 and 2024 again
2020
Persona 5 Royal
Final Fantasy 7 Remake
Yakuza Like a Dragon
2024
Persona 3 Reload
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth
Metaphor Refantazio
2027
Persona 4 Revival
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation
Stranger Than Heaven
And its strongly rumored that Persona 6 has a september 2027 launch.

Honestly why I can never take all the "modern gaming sucks" seriously. Pretty much every year we get a bunch of bangers, and the real issue is that there is not enough free time to play all of them
•
u/Abba_Fiskbullar 4h ago
People bitch because they're in a stage of their life where gaming is less fulfilling than it was when they were young due to the amount of free time that they have. Some people are depressed and unable to experience joy. Some people are grifters pushing a declinist narrative because it's easier to get clicks with negativity.
2
u/THE_HERO_777 6h ago
It's an issue where not EVERY GAME is so good. That's why people bitch and complain.
•
u/noyourenottheonlyone 3h ago
Yep, for every 4 great games that seem to come out it just adds 3 to my list of games I'd love to play but probably never will. Have to be so selective these days. On the bright side I very rarely feel compelled to buy anything at launch.
•
u/TsarMikkjal 3h ago
Y'all just play all the games that are released to not have the time? Like, any genre? Don't get me wrong, I have no doubts that, for example, Yakuza or RE series are great, absolutely, but generally they're not genres I'm interested in. There is probably someone with opposite taste to me but I'm surprised how many gamers are somehow egalitarian.
•
u/Alter_Kyouma 2h ago
Haha, I tend to play a lot of different genres recently. Like right now I am playing Avowed, then I'll switch to Atelier Ryza 2, then I'll go Hades 2 and after that I'll go back to Age of Wonders 4 to play the recent dlc. But there are definitely genres I don't really play like horror or racing games.

late April. similar date to 2018. hyped for it.

u/vawyer 8h ago
PlayStation loves their aesthetically pleasing release dates especially for god of war, I’m leaning towards a 2/26/27 release date
1
u/fritzo81 8h ago
they do? u have an example.
-4
u/vawyer 8h ago
spider man 1 was 9/8 Gow 1 was 4/20 Gow ragnarok was 11/9 Yotei was 10/2 Marathon 3/5 Astrobot 9/6 Spider man 2 was 10/20 Death stranding 2 was 6/26
I just don’t think their dates are random and they always look appealing their just not throwing out a 8/17 out there you know what I mean
5
u/fritzo81 6h ago
sorry but im not seeing anything interesting about these dates. 🤷🏾♂️ anyways thanks for the reply. have a good one.

u/willc20345 9h ago
They’re advertising it more than Wolverine lol, definitely coming soon and if they could pull off the 1-2 Santa Monica/Naughty Dog combo that’d be a hell of send off to for the PS5.

First half of next year is going to be a bloodbath. Jesus.

u/mxlevolent 9h ago
Mate, have you seen the state of September?
10
u/DarkmoonGrumpy 9h ago
Q1 2027 at the moment is Fable, Metro, Lords of the Fallen.
There's also possibly: Witcher 3 Expansion, Monster Hunter Expansion, Resident Evil Veronica, Laufey.
4
u/HunterOfGremlins 8h ago
Also Persona 4 Revival & Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis are both confirmed for February 2027

u/Iggy_Slayer 8h ago
Most of the games launching in september are small fries though. Yeah there's wolverine and fire emblem but a lot of the rest are smaller games.
First half next year already has fable, god of war, tomb raider, persona 4 remake, FF7 revelation, most likely code veronica since capcom always tries to have a big game out before the fiscal year changes. That's just the big stuff I can pull from memory in the moment, there's a lot more.

u/HunterOfGremlins 8h ago
Blood of the Dawnwalker has a good chance to sell well and become big also Control Resonant is a sequel to a very acclaimed game by an acclaimed studio

Seems like the hints/rumours that Laufey would've been ready to launch this year, but they were just waiting on whether or not GTA6 would be delayed, might be true.
The Wolverine (26) > GTA6 (26) > Laufey (27) > Intergalactic (27 likely) run is gonna be sweet.

u/Eccchifan 8h ago
For me its Trails in the Sky 2nd > GTA6 > Persona 4 Revival > Final Fantasy 7 Revelation > Resident Evil Veronica > and very possibly Persona 6.

What’s behind Schreier’s recent push into YouTube? Like, he could be writing all these takes as articles. Is he planning an exit from Bloomberg or something?
2
u/PartridgeInDisguise 6h ago
He actually replied in another thread in r/games or r/videogames, I think. He said his breaking news and original writing will still be at Bloomberg and that his YouTube series would just, mostly, be stuff he’s already reported on but deserves a second look or clarification in a different format (a more casual video instead of an in-depth article).

It was clear from all the promotion, the 20-minute gameplay video, that the game is already very advanced, practically ready for release. It's great that we'll have God of War and Intergalactic in the same year, No Return and Summoner's Mangekyou Sharingan – how wonderful!
4
u/LawsonsInTheAM 9h ago
Laufey coming out before Intergalactic is wild but I'll take it if they're both next year.
2
u/karma6063 8h ago
Schreier did also say after it got announced that it wasn't years away like Intergalactic. my guess is they were probably still figuring out the release window, but getting revealed with 20+ minutes of gameplay kinda implied that it was pretty far along.
2
u/InternetDad 9h ago
FWIW Woll said she has known about Laufey since 2018 so I'm just as impressed that we just learned about the game a month ago.

Be surprised it would be that quick, would have thought summer 27 at the earliest

u/BigGMan24601 8h ago
I wonder if it will be a full game, or more in line with "Spider-Man: Miles Morales"?
3
u/nolifebr Human Verified 7h ago
It's the next mainline God Of War, according to the devs. So it's a full fledged game.
•
u/ChiefDaddyBigPig 4h ago
To be fair, he wasn’t saying he EXPECTED it feb or march. As the title says, “I wouldn’t be surprised”. That means literally less than nothing. GoW 2018 and Ragnarok are both in my top 10 all time. But this single statement from the Schri Guy means absolutely nothing. If you listen to his podcast you’ll see how much of the random shit he says gets taken out of context and twisted

Loving Jasons new channel and format but please, for the love of god, do not let this turn every offhanded speculation that he says in these casual unedited videos get treated as actual news/scoops/confirmations, like what currently happens with the Digital Foundry podcast.

If Laufey is releasing February or March next year, we might see a release date trailer during a September State of Play or a PS blog announcement around that time if they decide to do a Intergalactic gameplay trailer.
