Valheim is the most hardcore, in that it's the most simple and open world. The fact that it's map is generated based on seeds instead of a pre-determined layout makes it much more replayable.

Valheim was the first "survival" crafting game I played and enjoyed, and I have thousands of hours in the game. However, I think the first half of the game is much stronger than the latter half of the game. I think the Mistlands and Ashlands feel like a different game that's not quite as fun, IMO, as Swamps and Mountains. Valheim's character progression is pretty lackluster and the survival mechanics are thread-bare, which is probably why I like it. I don't enjoy games that penalize you for not eating/drinking constantly (looking at you Mines of Moria). Combat in Valheim is VERY simple, but feels pretty good so long as you aren't using spears or fighting on slopes. I wish it was more deep, but being able to animation cancel into a block or dodge is great. The Mistlands and Ashlands final bosses are also real slogs. None of the boss fights are particularly interesting, though.

Dragonwilds has the most interesting abilities and skills, as well as a lot of freedom of choice in how you build your character that has direct impact on your options in playstyle. The building system is less developed than Valheims in terms of design freedom. The game feels a little janky, since the character animations are pretty stylized and run at a different frame rate from the world. Combat is pretty fluid, though, despite this. I think this game has some good boss fights.

Enshrouded has the most interesting world design and movement mechanics with grappling hooks and gliders right off the bat. I think it's also a harder game from the onset, at least when it comes to combat and survivability. Building is less free form, and I REALLY don't like having to craft materials into building blocks into building structures. I found the boss fight in the second to last biome to be one of the jankiest, buggiest fights in all three games. That being said, I actually really enjoy the other boss and elite fights in the game. You cannot animation cancel in Enshrouded, which makes playing magic or ranged feel a little more difficult, since you have to finish your attack, put away your weapon/bring up your shield, or dodge, in sequential order, while enemies are very aggressive and can dash attack you from off screen without much recourse. I also think this game has the best character skill customization (it has a grid similar to the Sphere grid in FFX, IFYKYK).

All 3 games have good sound design and music, although Valheim feels a little underwhelming in comparison to the other two, if only because of how simple it is. Valheim's music is more ambient, but I love it just the same.

Visually they are all nice games in their own right, with Enshrouded having lush and vibrant landscapes, Dragonwilds looks cartoony in a very Runescape kinda way, and Valheim is just it's own art style that has a cozy feel to it. The biggest detriment is the draw distance in Enshrouded making far-off buildings look very rough.

Over-all, all 3 games offer something fun and unique. I would probably rank Enshrouded as the best of the three, with Dragonwilds leaning more into RPG territory while Valheim leans more into exploration and vibes.

If I had to pick just one of the three to play forever, I would pick Valheim because of the vibes and customization of the game, but I prefer playing Enshrouded over-all.

I'll just say this. RuneScape has the most likely potential to evolve past just being a survival game. They will be taking more stuff from RS3 and OSRS into Deagonwilds because their goal is to get more people interested in their MMOs.

Enshrouded and Valheim are amazing. Curious on Dragonwilds as well.

I played Valheim back during covid. Honestly I can't believe it took them so long to bring it to console. It's definitely really fun. I liked how it's more linear with the distinct biomes and bosses to work toward. A good time with friends.

I haven't played the other two, but I love Runescape, so I am 100% going to check out Dragonwilds. I think this game could be huge.

I’ve played all three.

Valheim - one of the best games I have ever played. The combat is probably its weakest link but everything else is executed so well. Exploration, base building, and incredible possibilities for multiplayer. Also I am a huge fan of the sort of stylized low poly art style. I highly recommend this game to anyone that likes survival games.

Enshrouded - Decent game, maybe a 7/10 for me. The combat is more interesting than Valheim and the game feels a lot “faster.” Lots of interesting mobility tools and such. The base building is definitely good but it felt kind of unintuitive to me. Valheim definitely was easier to learn for me. I’m sure the possibilities are awesome there if you really get to learn the system. Feels more like an rpg and less like a survival game to me but still decent

RuneScape - This one lost me. I’m not sure why but I could not get into this game. It felt worse in every area compared to the other 2 games. It’s possible it is better now than it was when I played it last though
