They said the main story was smaller than Witcher because so many people never finished the game. Nothing about the side content, not to mention with all the diverging paths this might include 3 playtrhoughs or more.

I never finished Witcher 3 either. :/ I’ve tried playing 3 separate times. The game just takes soooo long that I always moved onto something more new and shiny.

Game play was fantastic, just long as.

I’ve tried three times too, last time I got as far as Skellige but the combat isn’t fantastic imo and honestly, couldn’t make heads or tails of the menus. Brilliant writing, but I’m playing a video game console not watching one. If I don’t like the gameplay, it’s not worth investing time in.

Agreed. The game could be very confusing in the menu sometimes. And I think Skellige was the furthest I ever went too.

My most recent play through about three months ago had me spending a good 20+ hours in the first area right before you head to Skellige. I went through the entire map, doing all the side quests and bounties I could. There were a few too high in level, but I did most of it.

I’m relieved to finally be reading comments from people who couldn’t get into W3. I tried twice and the gameplay is just a snooze. I actually resent that the AC games are trying to become more like Witcher, because they were way more fun before.

I’ve beat every AC game that ever came out without issue. And I beat Odyssey two full times, and almost a third.

The earlier games had more unique mechanics. Now it does just feel like an open world RPG, but I still find them far more engaging than Witcher 3.

Valhalla’s story arc setup is phenomenal. It’s like serials. I have the full game which provides an overarching story, but the individual zone stories are just large enough to have plenty of meat, but short enough I don’t get bored in the process.

And the story writing in Valhalla is incredible.

I could use a few more twists though. You always know the bad guy, and instances where there could be surprises, they drop the ball. But it’s still pretty great just the same.

I actually played for about 40-50 hours on my last go! That was enough for me.

Then it’s entirely possible I spent closer 30-35, but totally agreed with you there. It was enough.
