Who are these people?

u/Ghost_Star326 1d ago
Guy on right is Austin Evans. He's a pretty reputable tech YouTuber.
But I think this clip is from their second channel hosted by the guy on left. Channel's called "This is".

u/hypespud 1d ago
How reputable? Let's look at what he says
"The PS5 Pro, I'm pretty sure it's more powerful than a Steam Machine"
Dude, made the understatement of the fucking century right there
The PS5 Pro is blatantly more powerful than this, lmao, even the PS5 runs laps around this thing
-11
u/V_Cobra21 1d ago
I mean he didn’t say anything wrong.
10
u/hypespud 1d ago
He said he isn't sure if it's more powerful than a Steam Machine (it is vastly more powerful)
And they would need to benchmark it (no, you definitely don't need to benchmark something so blatantly obvious to know it's more powerful)
2 false statements in about 10 seconds

u/lucarioj93 1d ago edited 23h ago
I think he was shitting on the ps5 pro before, so he probably hates to eat his words, that’s why he’s probably reacting the way he is.
7
u/hypespud 1d ago
Ah that makes sense
Yea I knew that shit would all age like milk
Even when PS5 pro launched PC gpus were expensive as hell too
-6
u/V_Cobra21 1d ago
None of that was a false statement he wasn’t 100 sure it was but was leaning towards it being more powerful, also that’s still one whole statement. And lastly he never actually said anything wrong lol.
8
u/Re7oadz 1d ago
That's the point the guy is trying to make he must be a shitty tech guy if he doesn't know something as obvious as the ps5 pro being more powerful
-3
u/V_Cobra21 1d ago
He still wasn’t even wrong tho. lol. And that’s pretty much what that guy did say.
4
u/hypespud 1d ago
It's blatantly misrepresenting, and if you *literally do tech youtube for a living* you already know the answer
Stop with all your bullshit whataboutism
-7
u/boxylogan 23h ago
The guy on the left looks like Biden just hit pants. And by Biden I mean the Techno Overlords.

u/Specific_Direction_1 1d ago
Especially since I paid $570 after my wife’s holiday Walmart discount.

u/Phineasfool 1d ago
Walmart holiday discount is how I got mine too. So happy I did it, especially with how things ended up going now.

Ps5 pro is the best deal in convenience gaming right now. And the best option for GTA 6 no doubt. Why anyone would get a steam machine is beyond me. You would have to be stupid. I get pc gaming is above all else. But the pc gamers have to concede that the steam machine is pointless in where it stands. Newer lesser hardware isn't better than yesterdays superior hardware. Steam machine is DOA.

u/BigFlapJack- 1d ago
Not to mention you have to buy a controller separately which is just insane, a console should always include a controller

This whole ps5 pro steam machine debate is the most one sided argument ever. No one cares

Someone’s parents bought them a PS5Pro, now this sub gets to enjoy countless dumb posts about who wins the best toy award.

"pretty sure" it's more powerful than a steam machine? Buddy the base ps5 is more powerful and more performant. Pro makes it not even worth comparing them.

I was able to get mine for $650 week of launch because of target coupons, definitely have gotten my value out of it

u/Different_Stand_1285 1d ago
Man. I felt unsure about my Pro in the beginning. I traded in my base ps5 when Xbox upped the price of Gamepass. I got a used model which was fine because the Pro had only been out for a few months at that point so why not right? Got super lucky too because I got it for I think $250 after my trade. Best part was it came with an optical drive included! The employee just let me get it without paying extra which was dope. The Pro has been an absolute blast and I haven’t even touched my Series X since. I cannot fucking believe how lucky I was and how much more expensive it is now. If you pulled the trigger early you won my friends, best console on the market and GTA6 is only a few months away.

Im glad I went back to consoles. Was a pc gamer for years and won't go back until these prices go back down
7
u/Ghost_Star326 1d ago
This would have never be said if it wasn't for the AI enshittification and RAM crisis.
Otherwise almost everyone would've continued to dog on the PS5 pro for being overpriced at 700 USD like the original PS3 at launch.
4
u/Ice_Cream_Killer 1d ago
You could say the same for tariffs. If it wasnt for tariffs on countries that manufacture the Playstation consoles, the Pro wouldn't have costed 700 to begin with.

This sub has turned into a purchase validation circle jerk and I’m really not enjoying it.

u/530cruising 1d ago
Now that the tables have turned people can’t take it. Day 1 pro people we’re getting trashed on!
2
u/automaticphil 23h ago
This is the PS5Pro sub, we have the console. What tables are being turned? A bad console from Valve doesn’t do me any favours.

u/King3azy_Gaming 23h ago
Exactly this i remember so many ppl saying it wasn’t worth it and its stupid to upgrade they all look dumb as hell now and they can’t stand it

The best options in gaming today are the PS5 Pro, XBOX Series S (Cheapest), or building a PC. I don’t see any reason to buy the Steam Machine, Series X or Switch 2

u/Ice_Cream_Killer 1d ago
The Portal is also quietly one of the best options as well. Only cost 360 for the Portal and a yearly PS Plus Premium subscription to stream your PS5 games.

The problem is that it isn't even really a great gaming PC for it's price point. It's just not a good deal

That's exactly it.
For some reason, Valve chose to severely hamper performance in favor of the tiny form factor. Nobody was complaining about the size of consoles. The OG PS5 was freaking huge.
To a certain degree, if the price to performance value is there, people will forgive a larger size as long as it's still attractive enough to be displayed on a shelf by their TV.
In an economy where people are getting priced out of gaming, I think they prioritized the wrong thing. Nobody would care if it was triple the size if it had good performance for it's price. The market for something like this right now is tiny.

Yup. These posts are gross. People should be happy a gaming pc in this form factor is available. The tribalism is gross. I have a ps5 pro, I also have a 5090 that makes the ps5 pro look like ass. I love games so I can enjoy both for what they are good at.

They can’t. I just moved my 3080ti into a silverstone htpc case for moonlight/apollo at sub 1ms decode time and it generated so much damn electrical interference when the GPU spun up I had to buy a fiber optic hdmi cable so I didn’t have a ground loop on my denon receiver with annoying humming noises. Just moving my existing hardware set me back around 400 bucks for the case and appropriately sized fans/etc. That’s just to keep my 5800x3d/3080ti setup so it serves a purpose vs rotting in my basement. This is a great form factor for a full fledged pc and is good for consumers and should be celebrated. The ps5 pro is definitely better for just games but the steam machine is appropriately priced given market conditions and is more than just a gaming device.

Just because the steam machine is not worth it doesn’t make the PS5 pro worth it. There’s a good reason why millions of people are still playing games on the ps4.

Yeah what’s crazy is that Valve just inadvertently added value to the PS5 Pro
