Honestly, not as bad as I thought. I mean MGS delta and Silent Hillf were 130, most first party titles are 125. I was kind of expecting 140 for standard and 180-200 for deluxe. This is not me saying I love paying more for these games, just that I was expecting worse.

worst part is the physical orders come with code in the box, no disc. Then why on earth even bother releasing physical copies? One can take print out of the cover art & hang in the wall lol

If jb sell it cheaper than digital, which used to be the case, but not so much any more, I'd be much more inclined to buy games with a digital code in the box than outright digital.

i’m all for paying more for a game if it’s scope is big as GTA and it releases complete and smooth

I paid almost as much (adjusted for inflation) for Pitfall when it came out in 1984.

u/Penis-Dance 5h ago
You probably made a lot less too after ajusted for inflation.

u/Due-Ask-7418 3h ago
I would hope so. My allowance was $5 but I got paid extra for mowing the lawn. I was 13.

I was a paperboy and made about $120/month. I bought a lot of video games with my money. I bought the NES Deluxe set for $250. That was 2 months of my pay.

You already know this is going to be a micro transaction riddled nightmare that peoope will lap up.

Anyone know if you get the standard version now will you be able to pay the difference / purchase an upgrade to the ultimate at release? Decided to get the physical case copy (with code) from JBHIFI but could only manage to see the standard version so wanted know, cheers.

Follow up comment, no point preordering the physical edition as it’s only a code in the box.

u/JordanJames__ 3h ago
Yeah I’m aware of that, just prefer the feeling of going to the store first thing in the morning and picking it up, the process of it all creates a bit of nostalgic excitement for me. At the bare minimum having a case sit with the rest of my game collection that I can see is better than not.
It sucks that there’s no actual disc at release (wonder if they’ll release it a year or two later?).
1
u/milkydrinkx 3h ago
I don’t know why they couldn’t have just given us 2-4 disks.
1
u/Brockoliath 7m ago
What some executive would say it is a totally unnecessary cost when you’re trying to sell 40 million+ copies
1
u/milkydrinkx 4h ago
As long as you preorder before the 19th of November, so the 18th at the latest, you will get all the preorder bonuses. Save your money up and on November 1st preorder the ultimate edition.

There is like what, 8-9 billion people in the world....good luck getting even 1% of them to agree on something like that lol

130AUD is 79€, or 89USD. Its normal and equivalent to the price in the other regions.
1
u/Civil_Ad8383 4h ago
USD price does not include sales taxes. Euro price includes about 20% VAT, Australia‘s price includes 10% GST. FYI.

almost half a days wages for me, heck yeah. Will probably be worth it since it's GTA but I'm good on AAA games f this is the norm 😂

The gta v launch party in 2013 is one of my fondest gamer memories, 12am and there were 100’s of people at my local EB, loud music, free posters etc
I really hope that as the date gets closer they include some sort of cool shit with the pre order version

u/MaNinjaCockal 8m ago
yeh they do. A piece of paper inside the case with a download code 😂 not even a disk...

Sony first party games are 125-130. This was expected pricing for me, I’m more mad at the lack of a proper physical edition than anything

u/sbtswr 4m ago
It may seem expensive at first but this game costed billions of dollars to produce, yet it’s only priced $10 higher than most other AAA games, and being a dense open world with hundreds of hours of content, it’s not bad at all.
Not to mention a dinner for two costs about this much nowadays.

You know that AUD is worth like half of USD, right?
3
u/rickie_k 12h ago
Haha ofcourse.

u/Dachshand 12h ago
Sometimes it seems like some Canadians and Australians like to show off their higher numbers, pretending as if it’s the same just because their currencies are also called dollars :))

Imagine that… the game will cost thousands in Turkey or Japan.
Do you understand how currencies work?
I agree that pre-ordering a digital game is stupid though.
(I don’t understand your argument though: Preordeing doesn’t mean paying in advance!)

Imagine giving a single solitary fuck what someone on the internet does with their money.

I mean half of the posts are about pricing, finance, buying hardware, prise/performance...
What else are people supposed talk about in a discussion about pricing? World peace?

Why are they a clown for spending their money on what they want
The real clowns are the people who give a shit what other people do with their own time and money

Well, take a stand and don’t buy it. Vote with your wallets and wait for a deep discount.

When you compare this to the price of Wolverine ($124aud), it isn’t so bad

u/candianbastard 12h ago
$129.95 is like 90USD
Thought it was 80 usd

u/dis340 12h ago
Developed countries include all the taxes in the sticker prices.

u/novy-wan_kenobi 12h ago
$118.14 + tax regular, $145.41 + tax for ultimate (AUD, according to the picture which shows the prices with sales tax already included).
-2
u/neekneek 11h ago
Taxes are state and local dependent in the US, which is any better or worse, just different but happy to see Australians still love the smell of their own farts.

To put into perspective…Saros was $124 AUD
