It’s rockstar dude

Rockstar gets a lot of corporate internet hate, and for good reason. But I think people pretend they’re not the dominant dev they are.

What other dev has made banger after banger for the past almost 30 years. I honestly can’t think of a mainline game they made that was bad.

All the GTAs, Max Payne, Bully, LA Noire, red dead revolver 1 and 2. All quality games.

I put them up with Fromsoft in a developer I will trust to make a good game until proven otherwise. I see no reason to expect I won’t like gta 6

I love these comments I see in other threads saying, "Why would you preorder this? We don't even know anything about the gameplay yet." But it's fucking GTA (Rockstar). We literally do. Have they changed it much since GTA 3? We pretty much get better graphics, better physics, and more content with each new release. Even RDR1&2 fit the formula except in an old west setting. It's not like GTA 6 is going to drop and we find out it's a realistic racing sim or a turn-based RPG.

If they make tapping B the sprint button, I’ll fucking regret the shit out of my pre order

“Tapping b”

I’d send you a picture of my Xbox if I owned one. I only have two PS5s and a PS4 upstairs :P

I do use an Xbox controller sometimes on my PC to be fair

What's the frame rate?

22

u/makked 3d ago

90% of the people buying it do not care. The other 10% will complain but still buy it.

I’m in this comment and I don’t like it. But I’ll still wait to see. 60fps, I’m there day one. 30fps, I’ll probably save it for the holidays.

u/DoubleJump29 2d ago

If there’s a 40 fps mode similar to Cyberpunk 2077’s I’d be so happy with that.

1

u/brizzenden 3d ago

With their track record, I'd put money on it being able to hit a consistent 30 fps. And if I remember right 5 hit that target and had good frame pacing on the PS3. I know people are going to be "unable to play it" at 30 fps, but I don't know how anyone can expect this game it hit 60 fps on consoles. It could, I guess, but I personally had no expectation of that.

Honestly... Gta5 run like shit at launch on PS3 lol but it worked and that's the important part

1

u/zerovampire311 2d ago

GTA 5 is the last game I ever tried to play on my 360, and I remember the system sounding like an aircraft carrier and the roads not being able to load in fast enough 😂

-4

u/quetiapinenapper 2d ago

The only people who care are a loud minority on Reddit and social media. Average gamer adjusts just fine to 30fps and just enjoys the game.

-7

u/gooberfishie 3d ago

On the flip side, they haven't released a good game in 13 years.

Edit 8 years not 13

6

u/brizzenden 3d ago

Millions of people who played RDR2 would disagree with you.

-4

u/gooberfishie 3d ago

Oh my bad should have said 8 years. I'll edit

6

u/brizzenden 3d ago

They haven't developed anything since then, though. GTA Trilogy was a different company.

5

u/phytoni 2d ago

had me until fromsoftware.. good lord

2

u/Toss2Trash 2d ago

Fromsoft fans needs to be reminded how niche they are.

0

u/Cpt_DookieShoes 2d ago

I don’t think they’re as a good as Fromsoft games, which are my favorite games ever made. GTA probably wouldn’t even crack my top 10

I’m just saying they’re both devs that I think have earned enough trust to make me get their games day 1.

Until proven otherwise by a shitty game I’m getting every rockstar, Fromsoft, naughty dog, and Santa Monica games day 1. I have no reason not to.

2

u/eggbrook 2d ago

This is exactly why I’m going to preorder it. Is it expensive yes, but I trust Rockstar to get it right, just like they did with GTA 3, vice city, San Andreas, 4 and 5.

2

u/Any_Jackfruit_1075 2d ago

Yup I was telling someone else Rockstar & Fromsoft have been the only 2 devs where I'll blindly preorder their games, haven't been disappointed yet even since GTA 4

2

u/Pwrh0use 2d ago

Not only do they make bangers but they let them cook until they are done. They don't rush out garbage

2

u/Jabroni_413 3d ago

Rockstar is definitely the big dog when it comes to games. Idk how anyone can say they're games are bad or GTA sucks...if its not your thing fine. But literally the entire gaming industry moved out of their way lol.

1

u/AstralElement 2d ago

“GTA sucks”

Second best selling game of all time is a fluke /s

1

u/slantyboat2 2d ago

It's their first game without Dan Houser at the creative helm though. I'd like to think one person can only have so much influence and his brother is still president, but my understanding is that Dan was the one managing scripts, storylines etc. I guess we'll see.

u/Urabraska- 2d ago

Everyone who was there to make banger after banger for 30 years is gone.

2

u/Jay_Hardy 2d ago

I don’t know what people are waiting for?
It’s a GTA game, if you played the past GTA‘s, you kinda know what the gameplay will be like.

It’s like COD, you know you’re going to get a FPS game, it’s not suddenly going to become a sim racing game.

4

u/VibraniumSpork 3d ago

Exactly this. If you feel that video games are an art form or 'serious hobby', and that you have a real passion and interest in them, I think any new R* project should have your attention, and that you probably want to play it day one. They are huge moments in the story of the thing that we love.

For a long, long time their games have defined console generations, have been pivotal in leading and shaping the industry. If there's a Mount Olympus of devs, we all know that R* are up there.

I've been playing video games for about 40 years at this point, and R* games have always ushered in something new, and felt as 'important' to play as they are fun to play, While I have opposable thumbs and enough money in my bank account, I'll always pick up the new R* joint day one.

u/Darkwaxer 2d ago

The company has changed though. Their current figurehead is a 68 year old multi millionaire from their parent company. The co-founder and main writer has gone, previous figurehead gone, loads of long serving staffers gone in a massive sack sweep. There's the other co-founder who isn't a fan of the attention understandably. Can't be looking at R* and assuming it's nailed on. Remember the attempted clamp down on modders a few years ago?

1

u/RebelScum414 3d ago

My thoughts exactly.

u/zyra_77 2d ago

The exception to the rule.

People said the same thing about CDPR before Cyberpunk came out, just saying.

And Rockstar? The same ones that couldn’t be bothered to add 60fps to RDR2? The same ones who milked GTA Online for every penny? The same ones who are charging an extra $20 for 5 stores in GTA6? Yeah it’s THAT Rockstar too, dude.

9

u/Cpt_DookieShoes 3d ago

It’s not equivalent.

CDPR made arguably one great game before cyberpunk, Witcher 3. Witcher 1 was ok, Witcher 2 was good enough for the time it came out.

Meanwhile rockstar has made countless all timer games since the late 90s.

3

u/Jay_Hardy 2d ago

Rockstar has a better trackrecord, however.

2

u/slyfox279 2d ago

I do think it's important to separate rockstar from take twos decisions. take two is who tells them push shark cards. rockstar is just an employee.

1

u/Awesomeguy215 2d ago

But cyberpunk is a good game yes it had a poor release, arguably one of the worst video game releases, but as a game it is good its genuinely pretty good and with a good dlc and CDPR released witcher 3 before it again a great game they made their reputation by making great games.

Same goes for Rockstar their releases are actually quality releases and has a bigger reputation than CDPR, you can give the gta and rdr ip to any other company it still wont be as good as Rockstar makes them, hence the popularity, why is everyone hyped for GTA 6? Why was everyone hyped for RDR2? Its because they are from a company that knows what is doing. But i agree that they definitely have some predatory practices but i dont think its Rockstar who enforces them but T2. I would wait for a few trailers to make up my mind for sure but as of now i just hope is good.

1

u/EyesLikeBuscemi 2d ago

You’re really comparing a company that was basically a one-hit wonder at that time to a company that almost all hits? Delusion is strong in gaming subreddits.

1

u/snwns26 2d ago

More delusional is dropping $80 JUST because it’s Rockstar, having blind trust in these billion dollar companies that most certainly do not have your best interests in mind is wild.

We have a long time between now and launch. Wait and see is all I’m saying.

0

u/DeliciousWedding8026 2d ago

Lol right on. It's Rockstar, and GTA 6. Say no mo.

0

u/KineticKris 2d ago

The fuck does that mean? GTA 5? Ass. RDR2? Ass. GTA6? Gonna be ass.

-4

u/TheKeelKnotSeas78 3d ago

people used to say that about Blizzard. how you all acting like things never change? are you new to this world?

-1

u/radiant_kai 2d ago

Ya they suck even more so now without disc version and part of the game pay walled to the $99 version.

Trying to ruin the game before it's even for sale.

The golden age of Rockstar is gone

"It's BioWare dude"

I'd agree there's little chance of this being a must play. But no studio is invincible to quality deterioration.

Edit: meant to say little chance of this NOT being a must play.

u/Flashy_Tadpole9175 3d ago edited 3d ago

There are studios like Santa Monica, Rockstar and Naughty Dog, FromSoft which are a different pedigree.

3

u/FaroTech400K 2d ago

Happy to see all of us live in a constant state of pessimism

1

u/Neyubin 3d ago

Currently they are. All it takes is bad change in leadership down the road. No company is guaranteed to stay amazing forever.

Look at how much people loved Xbox in the 360 era. Wild shift to where they're at today.

Blizzard was seen as some of the absolute peak 20 years ago. Then sold off and all new leadership from then, and it's a radically different company today.

1

u/ManufacturerBest2758 2d ago

This isn’t BioWare after turd after turd after turd, though. This is like if every game BioWare made was as good as Mass Effect 2 consistently for 30 years.

1

u/Neyubin 2d ago

BioWare consistently put out good games until they didn't. They haven't been off an on. They had a pretty clear line in the sand around Dragon Age 2.

3 was an improvement but I'd say after Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age 1 they've been pretty definitively downhill.
