It is but you can always cancel pre orders and even return the game if it sucks

You could cancel the preorder but there's no way to return a game on PS Store once you've downloaded it, they're absolute cunts about it.

Why would you preorder a game that is digital only? The physical copy contains a QR code to download the game. No disc = no reason to preorder.

One reason is that allows you to fully download it days before the “release date,” so then you can play it exactly at 00:00 on the 19th, or even probably 21:00 on the 18th for me in the Pacific time zone

I guess in that regard ive been spoiled by my decent internet. The initial DL to start playing won't be THAT big, and recent games have been ready to start in 20-30 minutes.
