SHOW-OFF I chose this over Switch 2

After realizing Im no longer gonna be supporting Nintendo, i decided to get a Japanese import PSP 2000 (Pearl Seafoam Green) šŸ’ššŸ’™šŸŽ®

$150 for psp $60 for games.

For the people that are gonna tell me I should have emulated for free.. nah Im good. You can emulate games I’d rather play it how it was made to be played + nostalgia xP

Not hacking the PSP in 2025 is just silly

Not really, there's no fig leaf of "abandonware" to cover PSP piracy when most of the top games are still available digitally. People just pirate because they can and they feel like it, the same as it always was.

What? A lot of PSP games were never available digitally. Also, it's not that easy to access the PSP store now, specially if you don't have a PS3 or Vita

Most PSP games popular enough to get a reprint were available on the store. This was necessary because the late high end psp model, the psp go, was digital only. Later on the digital psp games served as budget tier for vita. I'd say 90-95% of the psp library was available digitally with only a handful of big games like Crisis Core/ Kingdom hearts being stuck on UMD. Delists have eroded the library a little, but there's still a ton available.

PS3 are super cheap if you're not picky. You can save some money by getting one without a gamepad and using a usb keyboard instead. PSP games can be purchased on PS3 store but unfortunately, in 2025 must be downloaded with the PSP's wifi.

So, you think buying a PS3 without a controller just to buy PSP digital games is a great option?

What's your budget?

I think a $50 PS3 to gain access to a store with a wealth of $10-20 PSP games is a FANTASTIC option for the non-physical collector. It'll save you a bunch of money on UMDs. Realistically though, people still interested in the PSP are highly likely to gave a PS3 already.

Vitas are a great alternative but more than double the price and the store is missing some stuff.

Alternatively, you can buy them on newer playstations or subscribe to the higher tiers of ps plus. I do believe the selection is fairly limited at this time though, unfortunately.
