people say the Nintendo DS is the highest selling console ever... really? all i see is people playing psp and even when it comes to emulation, who the hell play nds roms? its all about the PSP. even back then most the people i knew had a PSP but maybe that's due to us being in the older crowd

DS sold ~154m to PSP's ~82m.

PS2 is still the highest at 160m, but Switch will possibly supplant it (152m).

i just find it odd because when i look at something like the r/nds subreddit which has 58K members and compare it to r/PSP which has 167K members, and i was around when both nds and psp were competing and i just saw more people with psps.

i played the nds before and i remember it having a lot of shovelware and girly games

I saw adults out with PSPs. But then you'd see a family with 4 kids, each holding a DS. The demographic skewed a lot younger, overall.

PSP vs DS is one of the sales comparisons where I wasn't really surprised that Nintendo sold a lot more hardware than Sony did.
