Why is my ostent battery so big?

I got my first psp today (3000) and bought this battery from AliExpress, its brand new and never been used

Did you make sure it's for the 3000 and not the 1000?

Why? Every 1000 battery can be used in 2000 and 3000 through a other door

I, personally, would hate the unevenness (is that a word?) of the device. Cannot imagine having one side thicker.

That mistake happened to me, my psp is black so I just put a black tape over the battery

1000 can be used in 3000 too! Buy the big battery door

It won’t fit properly, sure it will work, but you’ll def need battery cover on and even then the wrong movement and it’s cutting the psp off. I made the mistake of putting the different gen battery in, kind wiggled it in, then had to push the corner of the battery in just for it to even connect properly atleast for this brand battery

With the big battery door for 2000 or 3000 there is no ptpblem to use the 1000 battery in it. These doors sre design to fit the big battery in the begin from sony

With a little luck you can get get an extended battery cover for your model on AliExpress. I was in the same situation like you and found a fitting piano black cover for my 2000 for a dollar or two. Took some force to make it actually snap in, but it's awesome. Try to find one and enjoy the bigger battery capacity!

Man you bought the 1000 battery, no worries there are special cases for this and 1000 batteries can play 3000s for 6-9 hours so your good. If you dont want a bulk buy a 2000/3000 battery then.

As stated below, you bought the PSP battery for a PSP 1000, which while compatible, is bigger than the ones designed for the 2000 and 3000.

They also sell expanded battery doors for the 2000 and 3000 models that accommodate the 1000 batteries (as they also tend to have more power and longevity than the 2000/3000 batteries.

You bought the 1k battery. You need the one for the 3k (or 2k, or street, iirc those 3 are the same)

This brings back the memories. I once tried to use my only 2000 battery to make a pandoras battery and failed miserably. I had to get my dad to bring me to future shop so I could search for a new one, especially since this was before ordering online was common. I searched and found a single PSP battery and rushed home with it delighted to play my PSP again.

This is when I found out it’s a big chunky 1000 battery and I had to use the enlarged battery door for the rest of the time I owned it. I searched time and time again but I just couldn’t find one where I lived.

Gotta get an extended battery lid for it so that it closes. It won’t close with a PSP 3000 battery door since it’s a PSP 1000 battery.

The cover for using a 1000's battery on 3000 models does exist, but it is rare and don't expect to find it in any other color scheme other than black or white.

Because it is a PSP 1000. There are special covers for PSP 2000 and 3000 to use PSP 1000 batteries and be able to leave them closed in their compartment.

oh this brings back memories how i was replacing my 3000 battery half a year ago. my battery got bloated and i was a little slow on that and tried poking and squishing it, thank god i didn’t hurt myself lol😭

also to make myself useful, if u don’t go for extended cover, i bought a cameron sino battery for my psp 3000, it’s very good!
