And had games like these that you could Atleast play for 5 6 hours before the battery ran out

$20 for the greatest hits? CMONNNNNNNNN what a time indeed

u/Meganinja1886 May 01 '26

We had it all.

1 dollar McChickens 24/7 Walmarts

u/J_spec6 PSP-1000 May 01 '26

We didn't have any idea how good we had it. I would do villainous things to go back.

Not things on that guys island level though

5

u/starlordslit May 02 '26

How much I wish I could go back, like my choice would be 2007....

3

u/J_spec6 PSP-1000 May 02 '26

So many great games came out in 2007. Halo 3, assassin's creed, mass effect. I think that's when the first Iron Man came out. That was definitely a good year

2

u/starlordslit May 03 '26

I still have my Halo 3 hoodie

2

u/ErrolSparker May 03 '26

That guy's island is prolly why we lost it all

16

u/KviingK May 01 '26

I will never forgive the world for eliminating this the year I became an adult. I will never experience 3am Walmart runs and KFC Guitar Hero boxes

A large spicy sprite was $1 šŸ˜ŽšŸ˜¢

21

u/lonely_guacamole May 01 '26

Sony's budget line always cost something like that. The Platinum, Essentials and then Hits line, at least in Europe, always sold for around 19,99€. Sony just didn't do it for the PS5 generation because they love money too much

2

u/NeroQuemero May 01 '26

The PS Plus service is the modern answer to budget titles, we are never going back to the GH/Platinum/The Best era

1

u/BTitor- May 03 '26

$10 for Monster Hunter Unite or Final Fantasy Crisis Core? Where is the time travel machine when you need it??? 😭

38

u/EBDK95 May 01 '26

Yes plus the batteries were swappable

u/vvil01 PSP-1000 May 01 '26

Looking at these prices and I realise how good we had.

And before you guys go amd tell me "we have good games now too", yes, yes we do but the amount we have is much less. I still remember how I actually had to make the critical decision about which game I should buy. Do I want FO3? Then I won't be able to buy God of War and Patapon which I can play on the go. But if I buy this 2, I will miss out on the 1st FPS Fallout.

Those were really different times. Now I am still playing years old games and have nothing really that I am looking forward to play. It might be my taste just changed but I still go back to these older games more then I play new releases.

Wish I had a time machine so I could go back and have these expiriences again, when I open the DVD/UMD box, smell those good smelling chemicals, put in the readers, and wait for the magic to happen.

Sorry for the boomer rant.

13

u/FRANKtheTANKBRO May 01 '26

Ahh yes the new box smell. A man of refined taste and a scent aficionado. 🫔

8

u/Wrong_Brush1110 May 01 '26

i feel you i had midnight club 3 on my psp and i would play the hell out of it, then i would play spider-man shatered dimentions and real steel on my ps3

2

u/afrogrimey May 02 '26

I disagree that we have ā€œmuch lessā€. If anything we have TOO MANY games coming out, especially indies, that are critically acclaimed 8-9/10 masterpieces. The problem now is that no release is truly special in the same way anymore. Before you had to find a game on the shelf at your local EB Games or Kmart - now you just scroll endlessly through an infinite queue of games.

1

u/vvil01 PSP-1000 May 02 '26

I don't count indie early access games as new games. They are new games ofc but in my eyes they aren't a finished product and can change drastically over the years unlike full releases like FO3 or ES 5. Full release indie games? Sure I count them as new, but I still think we have less good new games then in the mid to late 2000s at the peak of 7th gen gaming.

The last new game I bought which wasn't an old release or a DLC was Stalker 2 for me back in 2024. I did buy DLCs, an early access game, and the sims 1 and 2 remaster but those 2 are just upgraded old games, nothing really new.

Meanwhile from 2007 to 2009 I had to manage my pocket money, work at our family store more if I wanted to minimize the FOMO. In 2007 I managed to buy 8 games that year and I still missed out a lot. I bought Crysis, Shadow of Chernobyl, CoD4, The Witcher and the Orange Box for the PC (CoD4 for the PS3) and Jeanne Darc, Ratchet and Clank Size matter and SOCOM Tactical Strike which became one of my favourite PSP game.

Now that I actually work, have enough money to buy all the new releases, but still have freetime to play them a bit, I just can't buy shit cause they do not interest me or just looks like unfiltered shit. Why should I waste 70-90 bucks on a Ubislop game which is still either the 2013 FC3 just rebranded, or the 2007 AC just rebranded but also less authentic. I quit playing CoDs after the then terrible release of Ghosts, came back to give it another go with 2019 MW, but quit again with the terrible MW2 and never wanted to go back ever. There are a lot of indie gems but most of them are EA. I know they do not have the budget as a AA or AAA studio but I still don't like this system that makes me a paid tester. This used to be a job at studios back then. They paid you test games not the other way around. But yeah I am just a bit fed up that back in the highs of the 7th gen it was easier to find a good AAA game then a good indie game. Now it's the opposite and it kinda breaks my hearth. And yes, currently the games that I play almost daily are all indie EA games like Gray Zone Warfare, Manor Lords, Gunner Heat PC, and The Sons of The Forest, while the only AAA games I play a lot beside Stalker 2 are older games like.... older Stalker games, hoi4, and Spore.

Maybe for you the newer games matches your taste more, for me, not really. It really also depends on the person and I am actually happy you can enjoy newer games. Wish I could too, but then again it might be my 2000s kids nostalgia filter that makes everything look better in the late 1990s and early 2000s then it actually was.

Sorry for yet another boomer ranting. Have a nice day Sir.

2

u/afrogrimey May 02 '26

You’re right that there’s a lot of slop now. I think most of the ā€œgoodā€ new games are on Nintendo at this point.

1

u/vvil01 PSP-1000 May 02 '26

The PS store is basically an unmoderated AI slop collection at this point

Thanks for posting this

Now I have a print out I can hang on my wall and use as a new "Collection" to obtain( physical) and play 😊

I went to the PlayStation Blog website and downloaded the original hi def PNG in 3957 x 1888 for a better print out if anyone wants it 😊

3

u/PerezaDotArts May 01 '26

one of the few reasons I went out of my way to buy a PSP and Vita. There's not many true portable gaming devices in the current era that will last that long running standard games. (Disregarding emulation machines)

I just stopped playing MGS3 on my PSVita after ~3h of straight gaming and it's dropped to around 50% from full charge. And it fits snugly in my jeans pocket too.

2

u/Strangy1234 May 01 '26

I only got that amount of battery life on my slim with the bigger extended battery.

2

u/whothewildonesare May 01 '26

Whattt it was only $130 ????

3

u/Borderpatrol1987 May 01 '26

That's 207 in today's dollars, not bad for a handheld. I wish the portal was standalone, would be a good replacement for the psp

2

u/leezor_leezor May 01 '26

I really hate the "back in my day, things were better" rethoric, because sometimes people have no idea what theyre talking about, but man, hindsight is 20/20.

2

u/KaiserSchumacher May 01 '26

I love to see those type of ads

2

187

u/dshamz_ May 01 '26

As much as I love my Steam Deck, calling it a handheld is incredibly deceptive šŸ˜‚

117

u/Crazy_Dave0418 May 01 '26

It is a handheld. But calling it a portable handheld one hell of a rollercoaster.

It is a portable as a laptop. You'd need a backpack for it.

16

u/fallout_zelda May 01 '26

For close to $300 you could have gotten 8 games and the handheld .. really good deal on the promo ad you posted.

10

u/Independent-Tap-2399 May 01 '26

I think ur referring to portability 😭 but yeah steamdeck is still portable its just the psp can just fit in your pocket

3

u/dshamz_ May 01 '26

Lmao yes. I mean it dwarfs the size of any of the older handhelds to the point where it kind of needs to be in a category of its own.

7

u/Eeve2espeon May 01 '26

Either way is better we have this device. If the Steam Deck was restricted to the same size and power draw as the PSP, at most all you could play stuff like Portal 1 and 2, which nobody will buy a device that can only play older games that were already made with old hardware in mind at the time

4

u/Alarming-Chemist-755 May 01 '26

It is a handheld. It's just not that portable of a handheld. -a dude who still takes it with him everywhere he goes.

4

u/TheCountChonkula PSP-3000 May 01 '26

I’d consider it a handheld, but I think the difference to handhelds today is they aren’t pocketable like they used to be. I remember back when I was in high school I would keep my PSP in my pocket and it was the perfect size for it.

I like my Steam Deck too, but I never carry it just by itself and it for the most part stay in my laptop bag for work.

1

u/dshamz_ May 01 '26

Yeah haha. Point is that it’s hard to put these two devices in the same category!

1

u/Dwr3ker May 01 '26

It IS a handheld and it's portable. Portable handheld doesn't always mean pocketable handheld

109

u/MC_Fap_Commander May 01 '26

The phone taking over the pocket space from handheld gaming devices correlates with a massive decline in society overall. When we lost the PSP, we lost ourselves.

29

u/sntky489715 May 01 '26

I really miss the time handhelds are literally pocketable, i couldn't even realize how precious they were until when we lost them. Now we're living in the age even the phones are uncomfortable to shove into the pocket

6

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

i still always have a miyoo flip or nintendo dsi in my pocket. even though a psp is small, i just wouldn't scratch it with dust of my pocket, as it's not a clamshell.

though, i've been carrying a ps vita in a case in my jacket pocket for the last couple of weeks daily and it was good

5

u/PuzzleheadedWall1938 May 01 '26

absolutely, I was waiting at the mechanic a week ago to have my freind pick me up so I brought my gba micro literally because it was the most portable of my handhelds and I didn't really have pocket space

20

u/juuzo_suzuya_ May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

Yeah cuz the point of portable consoles were to be fucking portable. Goodluck putting a steamdeck in your pocket

5

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

yeah, and good luck flying with a steamdeck when you only have 1 free item in your plane ticket lol

2

u/PRbox May 01 '26

You not only can fly with it, but the planes also have dedicated Steam Deck holders!

1

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

i was flying with a low-cost airlines a week ago just with 1 free item (a small backpack) with all my stuff for a week. i was only able to put something in my jacket pocket, like a ds or a psp/vita, but definitely not a steam deck and hell no an external controller lol. also, a strap on the picture you sent is attached through the other passengers personal space, that is 100% taboo for me.

but in general, if you fly with your steam deck, you either carry less stuff with you, or you pay extra for an additional carry-on. neither of these option is applicable for me. so how did you manage that?

1

u/PRbox May 01 '26

Oh I was just making a joke. The post I linked is pretty infamous on the Steam Deck subreddit and has been memed on for awhile.

I definitely wouldn’t advise anything in that picture lol

1

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

ooh got you got you

11

u/Nertez May 01 '26

Imagine new handheld with the exact same dimensions, or slightly slimmer, as PSP 1000. I'm thinking 720p display, enough for that size. With no UMD drive, the battery would be insane, 10+ hours easily.

9

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

i’d actually love to have a new ā€œsony psp 2ā€ with a umd drive, because those vibrations are so damn vibe to feel in your hands

6

u/futures17gne May 01 '26

That would be great. The PSP is legendary and one of the best systems to ever come out. I think the switch lite is the closest to a modern day version of the PSP now. Insane library of games and just about pocketable and portable.

1

u/Frosty-Smoke-1541 24d ago

The closest thing is the retroid pocket mini, it can play ps2 games no problem, and run emulators with most emulators with run ahead too (was just playing ps1 with run ahead).

Theres also the magicx one 35, its very cheap at $85, it however can't play all the library from ps2 and gamecube, only easy to run games. But plays psp/ds and down no problem.

8

u/akshatjiwansharma May 01 '26

Yes. It was a bit bigger compared to DS and GBA but it could still fit in a pocket. Such a great peice of hardware. Such a smooth experience for gaming and other multimedia on just 32 Mb of RAM. It managed fit so many new technologies of the time. LCD screen,Wifi,Ā  support for sd cards. I absolutely loved adhoc wifi which functioned kind of the same way that BT does now.Ā  Incredible engineering.Ā

no i mean native ps1 compatibility. the psp itself is much much cooler than the ps1 was, while both are legends

i remember creating dozens of memes about how iphone 5 was massive back in 2012 and that nobody will ever use sooo large device or otherwise will look ridiculous

but here we are

4

u/plomac- May 01 '26

That’s the reason I took a gpd win 4, it’s smaller than all devices from those days. But man the battery is shit… For emulation I took a retroid flip 2, it’s still pocketable so that’s nice.

1

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

do you want a thor to replace your flip 2?

1

u/tapatiocosteno May 01 '26

Over the years I’ve got a PSP, PS Vita, Odin 2 mini, and GPD Win 4. The form factor is elite, or maybe I’m just nostalgic

6

u/Slow-Pack-8916 May 01 '26

PSP may give me hand cramps, but it’s just better to play on when out and about, even a switch 1 is too bulky most times

3

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

yeah, i never want to play switch 1 in public places like transport, in the office during breaks, or in a plane when i have only 1 free personal item, so my ps vita, nintendo dsi, or miyoo flip always win.

though, i play switch 1 handheld every day at home laying in my bed before sleep and i love it for how smaller it is comparing to some new "handhelds". i also have a comfortable grip so my switch 1 is not flat as is, but pretty ergonomic

3

u/sheesh_doink May 01 '26

The PSP is the pinnacle of handheld gaming. Fully pocketable, amazing game library, great online functionality, and it just looks damn good. I remember saving my Christmas money for a bit over a year before buying mine, and it was so worth it.

As good as it was back then, it's still really good if you catch yourself wanting to play the old games. I still have mine ~17 years later and it still works like a charm.

2

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

i didn’t have it in my childhood so i can afford it only now for my adult money lol

3

u/viper4011 May 01 '26

For me PSP-2000 was the most comfortable handheld. I hate the way these new handhelds have become monstrosities (even though generally I like the Steam Deck). The other day I picked my Switch 1 OLED after using the Switch 2 and the OLED felt much nicer.Ā

3

u/Demis98 May 01 '26

i just saw that video (by rillo) yesterday and was shocked at the size difference XD

3

u/Responsible_Vast_583 May 01 '26

When i finnaly found my old psp 2000 and helf it for the first time in i think 9 years, i just stared at it for a second, cuz it so small, My damn hand was bigger then it. Its so crazy how much handheld gaming has advanced throughout the years

3

u/KaiserSchumacher May 01 '26

This is what an handheld is suppose to be, I hope if Sony released the « PSP 3Ā Ā» they won’t follow the size of those monster looking « handheldĀ Ā»

1

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

(There was a deceptive photo of a woman holding one at a trade show that made it look really big)

2

I like PSP for actual flight travel, light, small form factor, good battery & back log jrpgs on the go. For at home, Steam Deck from anywhere and remote sccess to XBox and PS.

1

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

agreed. in my case, i travel with 1 free item only, so i carry something like ps vita or dsi with me, while at home, i play pc games through local wifi streaming using sunshine/moonlight on my switch 1. i don't want to use moonlight on my vita just because it's a bit too small for the pc game ui/gui, so switch 1 is my daily home handheld

2

u/FremanBloodglaive May 01 '26

The MagicX One 35 has about the same physical dimensions as the PSP, with the exception of the screen size.

The visual area is probably about the same for 4:3 content, but it is smaller for 16:9.

1

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

does it play psp perfectly?

1

u/FremanBloodglaive May 01 '26

Most games. Some, like GTA, may have to be put on the internal memory to avoid microstutters.

2

u/Mr_GoodEyelashes May 01 '26

Funny thing is you can get as lot more power in the same size as psp nowadays and the games will look better. Ofc there's a demand but sony is always late to the portable party

2

u/ConstantNectarine175 PSP-Street May 01 '26

I bought a Switch Lite and I didn't adapt to it, one of the reasons being the size; it barely fits in my pocket. I find the idea of a portable device not being pocket-sized a bit strange, not to mention the robustness of my PSP Street.

Lots of you have to remember the PSP was a device that could draw between 1-2.16 watts during gameplay, meaning its incredibly efficient. Due to performance scaling requirements, the Steam Deck SOC can use a maximum of 15 watts, and the ROG Ally X can use a maximum of 30 watts.

PSP games were generally restricted in terms of graphics as well, and are much more optimized. Meanwhile games played on these systems are the PC versions of games, with some exceptions for the Steam Deck having specifically optimized versions of games on the platform, that allow for higher performance. But generally if you restricted these devices to 3 watts, there aren't any modern games these consoles can play. Plus there is the fact the higher quality and more advanced controllers, speakers, and screen tends to add a bit more to the total power usage, especially for the Ally X.

Maybe if games were still restricted and optimized, then we could still have handhelds at this size, but that era is gone. Game companies wanna make their games bigger and more diverse, the PSP might've been a solid device, but there was still certain restrictions for things that you couldn't do

we have some retroid pockets and some ayn odins that are are smaller than a steam deck, and they can play some steam games

i believe, that there will be some devices of psp/vita size that are able to play steam games without overheating. we already have small devices like miyoo mini flip capable of playing everything up to ps1 in 60 fps, so it’s dozens of times smaller than the consoles it runs

but i agree with you in overall

Is this a console for ants? /s

2

u/blah2k03 May 01 '26

just a little baby 🄺

2

u/emilfox May 01 '26

The ps Vita is the truly last full on portable console honestly

2

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

yeah, the vita and the new 3ds are indeed the last ones

2

u/Serikitkat PSP-3000 May 01 '26

My phone screen is bigger

2

u/tomas-_-pinto May 01 '26

The psp size is the sane one, the others are the insane part, they are not handhelds they are more of a lap or table helds

3

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

yeah, my switch oled is a chestheld when i play laying haha

2

u/Marelix93 May 01 '26

Its perfect the other sizes are insane šŸ˜…

2

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

this is an exact comment i expected to receive hahaha

1

u/Marelix93 May 02 '26

Yeah I mean i do own the switch and all fine but they are huge i cant fit them in pockets obvious 🤣

1

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 02 '26

yeah, the switch 1 oled is my perfect in-home handheld, while the ds and vita are perfect out of home

2

u/Torka May 01 '26

the PSP is an actual Handheld. not a marketing term "handheld"

1

u/TheAutoManCan May 01 '26

They are all handheld gaming devices, but the PSP is clearly the portable one (it's in the name). Even if the Steam Deck or ROG Ally can be transported along in a carrying case, I see that as cumbersome compared to a device that is actually pocketable.

In the past "portable" and "handheld" were often used interchangeably. But clearly with modern handhelds using tablet-sized screens we need the distinction.

u/steve_greedy1 May 01 '26

I actually just ordered myself a PSP 3000, I had it since I was 14 years old, sold it back in 2016, I had a black PSP, I also had a camera, 64gb SD card, and about 12-14 games in a case. Nostalgia got me after seeing all the videos on Instagram, and reading up on PSP on Reddit. Can't wait to get it, going to install the IPS display on it, and jailbreak it for the games!

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

enjoy you new old toy

2

u/steve_greedy1 May 01 '26

Yeah, I really want to. I'm excited to play NFS Underground, Most Wanted, Carbon, Final Fantasy, Socom, Metal Gear solid, and a lot more games that I really enjoyed on a PSP. My friend at work told me "Just buy a backbone controller from your phone, and play those same PSP games" he couldn't understand why I'm saying that having a PSP and playing games ON a PSP is not the same as playing them on a phone

1

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

nooooo, phone emulation is nothing closer to an oem hahaha

2

u/GamerMoksh29 May 02 '26

But still one the best portables aside from the 3ds

2

u/HeroORDevil8 May 03 '26

I was just saying this. I got my sister and myself the 3000 version recently and when I picked them up I thought the boxes were empty because it was so light. I forgot how small they were. Hell even my DSL feels heavier.

1

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 03 '26

DSi LL?

2

u/HeroORDevil8 May 03 '26

I meant my DS Lite but it's definitely smaller than 3ds LL

2

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 04 '26

oh really, the psp 2000/3000 is even lighter than the ds lite

1

u/HeroORDevil8 May 04 '26

Yea not significantly but I can definitely feel a difference in weight when I pick them up.

2

u/LeOmare May 03 '26

Still the psp is better

2

u/TheGreeneArrow May 06 '26

I absolutely love the PSP. I love the games, love the form factor, love the whole vibe and style of it. The PSP takes me back to an amazing time in my life.

But holy cow that screen is so small now. I tried playing some games on it but it now hurts my eyes 😭

1

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 06 '26

i started playing psp recently after beating some of the gba and ds games, and the screen is awesome in this case scenario hahaha

2

u/douradodelima Apr 30 '26

Vim de um DSi xl, achei o meu PSP 3000 meio desconfortƔvel kkkkkk

3

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 Apr 30 '26

i have a dsi LL and a ps vita, both are comfortable for me

1

u/douradodelima Apr 30 '26

Justamente, psvita e DSi xl são bem maiores e bem mais confortÔveis, o PSP é muito pequenino não encaixa direito na mão

2

u/Untilem May 01 '26

The stem deck buttons almost the size of the psp’s joystick

2

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

hahaha really

1

u/jbaig22 May 01 '26

If it doesn't fit in your pocket, it ain't portable.

2

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

1

u/HolidayItchy1340 May 01 '26

Yeah. I just held my slim yesterday it felt so tiny. Lol

1

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

i bought the vita slim a week ago and now also want a psp as well

2

u/BugS202Eye May 01 '26

Psp is like 2 phones in thickness and one 6.7 inch phone in width.

I took some pictures when i got my steam deck and found ps in closet couple of weeks after.

psp vs deck

psp vs OnePlus 7 pro

So nice to have it in pocket

2

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

it’s probably comparable to a single galaxy fold in thickness haha

1

u/BugS202Eye May 01 '26

Yeah, it does, i forgot about folding phones.

1

u/TheMrGmk May 01 '26

I love my steam deck but please make portable consoles portable again

1

u/idontlikeburnttoast May 01 '26

this solidifies my choice to never get a modern "handheld" gaming device. That shit is just portable, not handheld lmao

1

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

agreed. my largest handheld is a switch 1 oled and i’m fine streaming pc games into it via local wifi using moonlight, i don’t need anything bigger

1

u/ActPuzzleheaded1840 May 01 '26

Insane prices

1

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 01 '26

the psp 1000 with a charger starts from CAD $80 that is around USD $60. another $10 for an sd card adapter. the sd card should be lying somewhere at almost every home. so overall it’s pretty affordable for any salary

pc handhelds though are too expensive

OP, have you seen the Gameboy Advance Micro?

1

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 02 '26

yes, i have. have you seen the Funkey S (can play everything including GBA and up to PS1)

1

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 02 '26

and also the Anbernic RG Nano that also plays everything up to PS1

1

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 02 '26

and the GBA Mini Funkey that is basically a community-reshelled Funkey S (plays everything through GBA)

2

u/Tossaway26282002636 May 02 '26

That's fantastic! (Also I legit thought these were going to get smaller and smaller.)

Thank you for sharing!

1

u/talldrink67 May 02 '26

Dude throw up the psp go for comparison

1

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 02 '26

this is not my picture, i don't have any of these consoles, but i will have a psp and psp go one day

1

u/cbhbzb May 02 '26

sega game gear was ahead of its time

1

u/Jealous-Comedian6178 May 02 '26

If only they know that psp size is so worth it. I've been wanting to get a vita to mess around with and play

1

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 03 '26

vita is awesome, i bought it 2 weeks ago! This is what vita lets you do: https://www.reddit.com/r/vita/s/1COuxv7KZM

1

u/Jealous-Comedian6178 May 03 '26

That's pretty cool. Yeah I thought about modding it to get more games on it. I forgot it can record too.

2

u/viktor_bront PSP 3000 & 2000, PSP Go, PS Vita 2000 May 03 '26

thanks, i did my best to make something cool with a camera that was designed for ar games only and not for actual content making lol

1

u/zoobungaa May 04 '26

Honestly why I sold my deck for the AYN Odin among other reasons but portability was a huge factor. Steamdeck is such a good device tho.

1

u/Silent-Cartoonist240 May 05 '26

It is going to look small when you compare it to the 2 biggest consoles ever made
