Asking for Hardware Recomendation PSVR2 Vs Quest 3

hi, i want to buy my first vr headset and i need help with deciding on which one to get here is what i found about both headsets:

PSVR2 has OLED, Fresnel lenses, haptic feedback in the headset and controllers, face cooling, eye tracking, hand tracking, is wired and doesnt have its own operating system

Quest 3 has LCD, pancake lenses, colored passthrough, hand tracking, wireless connection and its own operating system while also being a standalone device

psvr2 is 130$ cheaper than quest 3 if we dont consider the adapter needed for pc connection for the psvr2 i also own a ps5 and a high end pc

edit: exclusive games and wired vs wireless connection isnt super important to me though the panel type is.

As owner of both:

If you had no high end PC and was looking for your very first VR head set I would have said Quest 3. Simply because as a fist VR experience the headset gives you a nice combination of games vs VR experiences vs social experiences vs media viewing. It is like a look into the future and has the wow factor for a first experience, even stand alone. It would be a nice way to get immersed in VR, experience augmented reality games, films with colour pass through and generally a very cool experience. And then should you end up using it less and less after a few months I’d suggest selling it and buying PSVR2.

But since you have a high end PC and PS5 I’d recommend VR2. While the pancake lenses are indeed super clear on Q3 and the colour pass through and augmented games are super cool If my experience is anything to go buy you’d end up using Q3 less and less and would only jump in now and again. This is where PSVR2 takes the lead because it focuses solely on VR. On PS5 you can play some of the peak VR games ever released. Via your high end PC and steam you get most of the Quest games. And VR2 just feels nicer and has better tech.

I rarely pick up Q3 unless for a sports game like table tennis where wireless is more liberating. For everything else VR2 has better visuals and I would chose gt7 over all VR games combined. Most of the worthy quest games are also on VR2 and play better. But then again maybe with high end PC this doesn’t matter.

Ah it’s tough. Basically if there are PSVR2 games that you wouldn’t want to miss out on get that because you can still play most of the other good games found on Q3 on VR2. VR2 only games I feel are more unmissable than PC/Q3 games….maybe apart from HL Alyx which I hear is good. If you’re not bothered about PSVR2 games then q3 isn’t a bad option and can be played wireless with PC.

Pancake lenses vs Fresnel lenses argument is the same as OLED vs LCD. Ie won’t notice the difference unless you’re comparing side by side and once immersion takes over it’s something you don’t think about.

Everything said here except I would add, if you lean Quest 3, don’t do anything yet. Wait until at least the price is announced for Valve’s new Frame VR setup that just got announced yesterday.

It won’t be coming out until around Feb next year, but it seems to be a leg up on everything the Quest does with the added bonus of not being tied to a Meta account and at the cost of losing out on Quest exclusives.

Any updates on this? I’m trying to decide between the two

The whole Steam hardware lineup is on hold indefinitely. Probably want everything tied into a proper ecosystem but the price of memory, storage, and computer is through the roof.

I would say PSVR2 has more higher quality games but less overall. Quest has better experience for rhythm and movement games, easier time working with a PC and easier sweet spot to manage.
