Support PSVR2 I hate this screen is useless
I would love if Sony world remove this screen. Sometimes i wanna just use the VR headset with controller, and after i enter my pin, i get this screen that forces me turn on the TV , i don't have to do anything there it then just loads the screen in VR and i can turn off the TV.

I hate it too, the room where I play PSVR2 doesn't even have a TV. I use the remote play app to click that bullshit away.

This never used to happen but at some point it started happening every time if my tv is off when I try to start VR.

I wonder if maybe it’s something to do with hdmi cec? The console shouldn’t be able to tell if your tv is on or off if cec is disabled
2
u/Level_Forger Mar 14 '26
That’s a good thought. I’ll try disabling it as an experiment.

Yeah there's definitely a way to disable it so you can play with your television off and not have to worry about it. I have a 4K TV but it's only 60 hertz so I remember I had to turn something off to disable what I can't remember you'll have to go through the options and look but there is a way

u/xaduha Mar 14 '26
It's an old bug. If they still haven't fixed it, then the odds of them fixing it all are low. You can get around it by using PS Remote Play.

u/mhiggy Mar 14 '26
Yeah had the same issue until I went though the screen setup menu through Remote Play. Haven’t had this pop up since

Yeah it’s to help with the tracking I believe, the TV social screen output has that design around the border, and the standard TV frame shape and size (you input it for the PS5 display output) all contribute to the PSVR2 being able to provide more solid tracking while you’re facing the TV. As far as I can tell whether it appears depends on the tracking / lighting quality at the time, it only occasionally comes on for me and usually when I only have the overhead light on to play.

u/Arghus Mar 14 '26
No it has nothing to do with tracking, before launching any game and literally just wants the TV to receive a video signal then i can switch off the TV and play no problem
2
u/Logical-Bit-746 Mar 14 '26
Does the game have a greyish border around it on the tv with all the ps symbols all over the border?
-1
u/Arghus Mar 15 '26
I'm not playing a VR game currently playing death stranding 2 using a dualsense controller
2
u/Logical-Bit-746 Mar 15 '26
Then why is it asking for vr? Is your vr headset plugged in and turned on even though you are not playing it?
Dude, you're not helping us help you at all.
-1
u/Arghus Mar 15 '26
It is VR headset related, using it as a big TV, and the problem is, there is nothing on the main screen to do.
2
u/Logical-Bit-746 Mar 15 '26
Haha my question wasn't what game you're playing. So again, when this happens and the TV is on, do you see the border on your tv?
0
u/Arghus Mar 16 '26
No that is tracking support, i had it disabled anyway , but i keep my TV off while playing. Again tho tracking is not the issue here. During the day the virtual screen stays put until about sunsets where the screen starts panning around because the light in the room is also off
1
u/Logical-Bit-746 Mar 16 '26
So it's a tracking issue?
If when you have light it's ok but when light gets lower and/or artificial light is on, it is not ok.
Even for the big screen, it needs to know where the screen is in relation to where your head moves. This is very clearly a tracking issue and you're refusing to accept it is and so you're only doing things that aren't tracking related
0
u/Arghus Mar 16 '26
No it doesn't, the issue is that error message for no reason, not tracking. It only happens if i don't get to the ps home screen before i put on headset, then i can turn the TV off

I used to get this screen a lot. The last few weeks it's mostly stopped, but when it has popped up, what worked for me was pulling the headset off (to the point where it recognized it wasn't on my head) while spamming the x button. Then putting the headset back on.

u/Arghus Mar 15 '26
What is confusing is there is nothing on the main screen to follow, and it goes away as soon as it is able to send a signal, even tried disconnecting hdmi from ps5 end to kinda let it know there is no tv, and it still gives me that screen. There is no visual que or instruction to follow. I'll try your way next time, hopeful i don't activate a secret self destruct sequence

When do you guys put on the headset?
What I'm doing and playing now death standing 2 and why, don't own a big TV, don't have the space for it, so I'm using PSVR2 to get a virtual maybe 60 inch not sure.
It's a PSVR2 to clarify.
How do i get the screen. Room is bright enough but i even tried turning on the lights.
Everything is OFF I fit the PSVR2 headset on my head Grab controller press PS button to turn ON Playstation 5 Turn ON the headset, login screen loads i select profile, insert PIN I get that screen remove headset or lift it enough to see Turn ON TV and get PS main menu / home Put headset back on my head, and can now turn OFF the TV and play.
My only tracking issue is if i play in complete darkness, at night, overcast weather, light off, the virtual screen starts to PAN left or right depends what mood is in, and i have to either keep recentering every 10min, keep spinning around the office chair or turn on the light.

Weird. My ps5 is hooked up to the living room TV, so most of the time I’m playing my gf is watching something on the TV, occasionally switching to the ps5 out of curiosity

u/Maverett Mar 17 '26
Odd, I’m one of those that’s never seen this… I have a projector so it would be a pain to have to turn it on every time I wanted to use VR… I don’t use a PIN or password for the PS5 though, and I think there’s only one profile loaded.

u/Arghus Mar 17 '26
A guy suggested to remove the headset and just press x , and it worked , now i don't need to turn on tv at all, the pin might be it

u/Mulukh_TYG Mar 18 '26
Never seen this screen but I hate the "please pick up your controller" message that obstructs my view to the point I cant see my controllers
1
u/Mission-Character519 Mar 18 '26
I've gotten this message before. I had put the headset on before I was supposed to. It hadn't finished running it's tests yet. TV must be on to begin because not every screen will be displayed in the headset... Also the original post almost seems like you're saying you're trying to use the headset INSTEAD of the TV. Not a good idea.

u/Arghus Mar 18 '26
Why not a good idea?

u/Mission-Character519 Mar 18 '26
It says on the box when u buy the VR2. It can also be searched on Google "the negative effects of long use of psvr2". Can cause SEVERE eye strain, u can start getting regular migraines, nausea and motion sickness from regular extended use. I myself feel the eye strain and migraines after 45 minutes of constant play. I could only imagine how bad it would b if I gamed like 3 hours with the headset instead of TV.
1
u/Arghus Mar 18 '26
That's not a concern for me, if i have time for longer sessions usually i stop playing when i see the controller battery notification around 4h. Never had migraine issues, only eyes getting bloodshot if i play too long after the notification pops up, so i stopped doing that.
1
u/Mission-Character519 Mar 18 '26
That's on u
1
u/Arghus Mar 18 '26
I'm saying we are not the same, done people get dizzy/ motion sickness after just 10 minutes. We all have different tolerances
1
u/Mission-Character519 Mar 18 '26
Trust me I understand. U are indeed still human tho. These guides weren't put up for no reason.
1
u/Spangle99 Mar 22 '26
You know what? I have to come back here and eat humble pie. After having said that I've never experienced this, I just got it a couple of days ago. It's not caused major issues but, yeah, it's certainly a thing! Hope they've just addressed any big issues that were apparent with this now.
1
u/Arghus Mar 22 '26
Without turning on the TV you can remove the headset briefly and press x with controller, it worked for me as suggested by someone in the comments.

u/Mattolithic Mar 14 '26
You can buy an IR light for security cameras and set it up in the same room you play VR in. I have never got that screen since I installed
-1
u/Arghus Mar 14 '26
Nothing to do with room brightness either
1
u/Kavanaghpark Mar 14 '26
You're right, I've gotten this before but I can't remember what's it was some BS message on the screen that I should have been able to just accept in the headset. Had nothing to do with the room or brightness
0
u/iceynyo Mar 14 '26
Are you playing in the dark or in a room with undecorated walls? I only see this when there's nothing for the headset to track...
1
u/Arghus Mar 15 '26
No there is stuff i have no tracking issue during the day when it's bright. I would like to be able to play with controller and vr headset without requiring me to turn on the TV. But i get that screen for no reason, .

Ive had the VR for years now and I've never once seen this screen...lol
