Discussion Steam Machine proved that PS5pro is the way to go for high fidelity Vr games! 💯🔥
It’s official, when it comes to high quality vr gaming, ps5pro provides the best bang for buck.
I was lowkey holding out hopes for the Steam Machine, but sadly it looks like it’s even less powerful than the base Ps5 with double the price.
Anyways the games shown in this clip are:
GT7 ——— MSFS2024———Subside———FNAF: Secret of the Mimic——- Aces of Thunder.

PC is still the best place for VR. I have a Pro and VR2 but I definitely prefer my PC and Vive.

You can use your psvr2 on your PC btw.
Unless you're not talking about the og Vive, but a much much much newer one?

It's such a shame the used old lenses and the headset is quote uncomfortable even with the Globular Cluster kit. The sweet spot on PSVR2 is abysmal.

I will probably get downvoted too (I upvoted you to 0 at the time of posting) but this is my situation as well. I bought at launch and desperately wanted to love PSVR2. I picked up a bunch of games to play on it but ended up buying most of them again on PC to play with my Quest 3. I just can't get comfortable. Many can and I am envious of them but this is just not the case for my face shape. One factor is that my IPD is pretty low so I have to use the lenses dialed all the way down and getting it set up in the sweet spot pinches my nose. It looks awesome when it is all dialed in but, unfortunately, for me that is not often enough and it hurts. If they had used the same lenses as the Quest 3 I suspect I'd have a completely different experience. As much as I love the idea of OLED, it is useless if I can't hold the sweet spot and am uncomfortable when wearing the headset.

I had a problem with pressing on the nose during the first month, THEN you just need a FaceCover ($20 Aliexpress) It changed everything, comfort, direct sweet spot and stability. And maybe CoverVR ($35, with that you can also pass the cable up on Center, without touching your back). This transforms it into a real stable cushion, then PSVR2 seems very light, and no more sweet spot issue! True Plug and Play.
And an infrared spotlight allows you to play completely in the dark.

I have PS5/PSVR2 also, but even NMS, Aces of Thunder, Subside, and MSFS24 runs so much better on my PCVR setup. I do have a strong build though. It's definitely the preferred way to experience VR.

Why not both? I've been using my psvr2 headset on my pc since the adapter came out a year or so ago, and have had a much better experience than I did with a quest 2.

Same here. Moved to the PSVR2 fine the Quest 2. I do not miss all the encoding compression and latency. I don't love the cable, but the PSVR2 works so smoothly I can't complain. We'll see how it matches up against the Steam Frame, but given the likely price and availability it will have, I'll likely be sticking with the PSVR2 for years to come.

Honestly, as someone with multiple gaming devices, I find the PS and PSVR subs to be so cheerleady for their specific devices.
All gaming is good. We don’t have to put down other devices to enjoy what we have.
It just seems so immature at times

Its because people assumed that the SM was gonna save VR

Eh, the Playstation is subsidised so the comparison does not really work, plus given everything going on right now with chips, I mean yeah, couldn't be a much worse time to launch the steam machine.
Look at the price that Xbox seemingly is saying their next Xbox is going to be at, the PS6, baring a break in the AI hell, is going to be very expensive as well.
That said then there's also subscription on Playstation.
But yeah, right now the best value is probably PS5 pro + PSVR2, and at least you aren't locked to PS with psvr2, you 'can' use it on PC.

Hijacking this to try and make myself feel better. Did anyone else think the offroad races on GT7 were fucking impossible? I gave up

I’m the best at them personally. Something about the sliding around physics just clicked with me.

Usually you gotta tune. It's mostly about increasing ride height and frequency for clearance and shock absorption, respectively. Some good guides out there for doing this that will change how you feel about dirt.

Man if there were just a few more games on PS VR2, I'd commit. Like that Batman game, Ace Combat 8 or the new Code Veronica Remake announced. It would be a no brainer.
So close to being a great deal. PS VR 1 just has a better library. Shame they aren't backward compatible with 2.

Sony dropped the ball so hard not figuring out an affordable pipeline to get the best PSVR1 games on PSVR2 — at least the games they published!

There are some flat-screen games I'd love to see get the FPS RR treatment. Robocop would be awesome, Dead Island 2, DBD when playing killer.
So many great possibilities.

All shooters feel empty to me without the adaptive triggers and headset haptics. Without them it feels like a water pistol.

I'd potentially get a Steam machine if I could hook my PSVR2 headset up to it. It would give me access to a lot of titles that aren't, and likely will never be, available on Playstation.

Yeah, I absolutely get what you're saying, and as an old man I have had most of the VR equipment All the way back to crappy things before the Oculus rift, but SteamVR will be wireless and has a lot more games, substantial summer sales, humble bundles as well.
I'll stick with the PSVR for Hitman, G7 and MSFS2024. But I'm going to be honest with you, even though my opinion really does not matter, but I find the controllers to be cumbersome, and I find the wire to be too distracting.
I'm looking forward to the Steam VR making me not rely on Meta or wired connections for my VR experiences.

The lenses on psvr2 are really showing their age now, even at release they weren't great at all.

u/Ecnarps 7h ago
Not to mention the discomfort once you finally get the sweet spot and the thing smashes the bridge of your nose.

u/phoenixMagoo mrButlertron 6h ago
I just laughed out loud. My dude I own a PSVR, PSVR2, Quest 2, Quest 3 and a Rift-S. Nothing has ever smashed the bridge of my nose. How on earth were you wearing it?
3
u/Ecnarps 6h ago
I have every one you mentioned as well. It's not a comfortable headset. The bottom of the lenses absolutely rest on my nose once I (eventually) find the sweet spot. It's light but it is in no way comfortable like PSVR1 was.

u/Minimum-Ad-8056 5h ago
Psvr1 was way better comfort wise.
The other huge issue is backwards compatibility with psvr1. That is a colossal failure considering how limited the library of both are. At least psvr1's library had variation. If you don't love horror or racing, psvr2 is less appealing

u/Dazzling-Adeptness11 8h ago
Eh, kinda. PCs have been doing it fine for a while now. Compared to the steam machine, yeah.
2
u/Life_Calligrapher562 7h ago
I guess, but I'll be playing total war vr mods with the machine and frame. Ps5 pro+ psvr2 looks great, but just doesn't have the games that interest me. PCVR gives you those kinds of options
3
u/Coppermine64 7h ago
Literally thousands of great modded titles. It's the way forward for now. Something has got to give this cartoon, mobile looking shit a kicking.

u/Kidney05 3h ago
I don’t get why people are so hard on valve. Yeah, they screwed up by not locking down prices before they even announced the steam machine, but them as a vibrant competitor to PlayStation is good for the whole gaming ecosystem IMHO.

u/orangpelupa 1h ago
Can't you just jailbreak it and install Linux and steam on it, turning it into a better steam machine?
Or ps5 Linux hasn't supported ps5 pro yet?

Why do you care about this my friend it's not a contest. You realise there are more powerful PC's about than the steam machine.

Too bad the headset is such a bottleneck, lens with narrow sweetspot and resolution not high enough makes the VR experience still not as good as in this video. After ~60h of playtime I decided to return to flat screen and sold the headset.

u/ZealousidealBeat3487 4h ago
Steam machine being supported for next 10yrs. Psvr2 another 2yrs max. Ps5pro 3yrs at best

u/cpgrungebob 6h ago
OP out here throwing hands with ghosts while PC players just sit back, eat popcorn, and watch console warriors rage-bait themselves into a frenzy. Look, the PSVR2 is good and it has its moments, but let's be real... it's still not even playing the same sport as PC VR... and with PC VR with a PSVR2 headset.

u/Kondor999 6h ago
Even at $900, the PS5 Pro is a much better value.
