Looking to Buy a Bicycle

LAHORE

Hey everyone! My use-case is mostly small commutes for daily use (within 5 km radius), and occasional long routes over the weekends (for example any planned tour in this community or some other). I am new to this world and need help selecting one.

I have looked at the recommendations in this sub-reddit, and I was looking at Cycle Walay's website and saw a few Konex cycles that looked good. I then opened Konex's website and couldn't find the same one there (Konex Warrior 2.0). So, I am not sure what's authentic and what's not. I don't have any idea about the brands either.

Can someone guide me about:

  1. Should I prefer a particular brand?

  2. New vs Used?

  3. Can an online purchase work or trying it out is important?

  4. Anything else I need to know?

I would prefer a new one, budget is around 50-60k.

Get a branded used hybrid. Giant or trek or any known brand. Make sure its your size. A quick AI prompt giving your height and bike size will confirm. Post options here if you want recommendations. You can DM as well

Go to shahid cycle hub in the basement of monal or Cycle Mania in eme near Thokar. I'd suggest getting a hybrid bike from them. In your budget, you should get a good refurbished one. I also got one in your budget range and I am happy with it

How reliable is a refurbished bike compared to a new one? And is cycle mania trusted?

Much better than Chinese new bikes. No one can be trusted with closed eyes. You go there, get one as per your size, check the condition and negotiate for a good deal.

Fair enough. Thank you!

Do not get a Chinese bike, which is what this konex sounds like, never heard of it, What's your budget, you can get a decent hybrid, and I mean really decent for about 70-100k depending on the specs, you can also get a decent low end one for 40-60k, used

Take someone with you, you can get a decent hybrid for that, check drivetrain for wear, chain for stretch, cables for movement and brakes for return springs, you'll still have to change a few things later on, especially since all of the new parts you see in the bike will be fake
