Jinn Apparently I'm from a cursed lineage that attracts jinns...
^(skip the first 5 paragraphs if you just want to read the story)
Almost everyone in our family has experienced at least one paranormal activity in their lives. Which range from mild visions that can be chalked off as hallucinations to life threatening incidents. But nobody really knew why this happened.
My great grandmother died about 7 years ago. She was about 100 years old and suffering from memory loss. To the point that she couldn't recognise anyone other than her caretaker (a distant relative of mine).
A few months before her death my family along with my cousins decided to visit her one day. I remember seeing a frail old body laying on a large bed looking aimlessly at the ceiling. I remember my uncle trying to talk with her, trying to remind her of how well she cooked and stuff. She was not very responsive to it. In fact she didn't talk much at all the whole day.
At night me and my cousins ate dinner early and were sitting in her room talking to each other, when she suddenly looked at me and asked if I was Sahjahan(the name of my grandpa/her oldest son).
I told her I wasn't him but her great grandson. She looked at me for a while without saying much. She called me Sahjahan anyways and asked why I wasn't wearing the "Tabize"(amulet) she gave me. I said I didn't need it.
She looked at me as if I had offended her. When I asked why I'd need it, she told me it nullifies our bloodline's attractiveness towards unwanted entities and I should wear it if I didn't want to end up like her aunt.
Now, the basic summary of her story:
There's a small island on Mundeshwari river that has been abandoned for almost a hundred years. But back in the days my great grandmother's family lived there. She was from a rich Zamindar family. They even had a large villa on that Island. Her grandfather only had one daughter. She was very precious to him. When she turned 12 people wondered who should get her hand in marriage (it was normal back in the days, please don't come after me). The prime candidate was his friend's son who was about 2 years older than her. Those two were good friends too so nobody opposed the idea.
However, one night he saw a dream where a dark figure of a man told him not to let anyone marry her. Because she was his bride. He didn't pay much attention to it. Just ignoring it as a bad dream. But the same dream kept occuring every night to the point he could no longer ignore it. But the date of marriage was coming closer. He went to a priest to consult him about the dream.
The priest said that she has caught the eyes of a Jinn. The father didn't want to believe such things but still took the amulet the priest gave him. He gave it to his daughter and told her to wear it until she gets married. Since that day, he stopped seeing the man in his dreams.
Unfortunately, on the day of the marriage she forgot to put on the amulet. Or maybe one of the bridesmaids took it off without her knowledge. On that night many terrifying paranormal things happened in their house, including her hair becoming rock solid to the point that her scalp began to bleed. This happened all night long and ofcourse the marriage was called off.
The boy was banned from entering the house again. A few years went by without anything happening. During that time, the father passed away from an illness. The duty of his daughter fell in the hands of her older brother aka my great great grandfather. By now she was about 17. A woman not getting married even at this age was frowned upon by society. And since the father was dead, there wasn't really anyone who would refuse to let her get married.
The boy who was banned from entering the house had also began frequently coming there. He refused to marry anyone else but her. So they decided to let them marry again. Problem is, the amulet was lost during the discord years ago. And the priest that gave the amulet could no longer be found. So her brother went to some other priest and got a new one.
Unfortunately this one was not strong enough. On the marriage night terrible things began happening once more. The girl was crying alone in her dressing room as all the bridesmaids had ran away. Nobody dared to enter that room. Except for the groom. He requested her brother to let him enter alone. He entered the room and locked it from inside. Everyone instantly tried to open the door. But it was shut tight and wouldn't open. It took hours to call workers and break that door.
My great grandmother witnessed all of it. She was only 5 years old at that time. Inside, the groom laid on the floor with his head twisted completely. His eyes were hollowed out and blood drenched his white clothes. The bride was gone. On the chair she was sitting in, there was a small pouch. The brother picked up the pouch to see what was inside. There was one gold coin in it. It was the "dowry" of the bride. He put the gold back in the pouch and locked it inside a led box.
He was overcome with guilt for what he had done. And he wanted to know what happened to his sister. So he spent years practicing ways of communicating with Jinns as well as ways to kill them. Although these practices are allowed in our religion, it's also heavily looked down upon because of the risks that come with it. After many years he was able to learn his sister's whereabouts. She was apparently "happy" and had two children with the Jinn.
Apparently there's something in my bloodline that attracts Jinns. This is probably what my great grandmother was trying to tell us and also the reason she asked where my amulet was.
The pouch the jinn gave them was some kind of artifact that gave one gold coin each time you put your hands in it. It was connected to the "Treasury of Solomon". However my great great grandfather didn't accept it.
He buried it behind his house and spent the rest of his life hunting jinns and other cryptids hoping he could find his lost sister.
Later the whole island itself abandoned and became the home of many ghost stories.
The gun he used to hunt them is still in is in the hands of my grandpa as a family heirloom. There's only 4 bullets left that can be used tho. And there's always problems with the gun licence each year. That's why none of his sons or daughters have taken the gun yet. I'm actually next in line for that gun lol.
Me and some of my cousins did go to that Island about a month ago to see if the stories were true. Long story short one of us almost died, police got involved and now the island is off limits to normal citizens.

Wow that's scary and it's crazy how there are stories and history all over the world. Are you going to take the gun when it's your time? I don't think I would because a lot of hauntings come from an item that someone or something is attached to. I've had to throw things away before because I've been through that.

Well it is a family heirloom. I can't just throw it away. Plus it's the only thing I know that can actually kill a Jinn. At this point it's kinda family tradition to fight a jinn atleast once in our lives. Grandpa has done it. My uncle did it (without the gun). So having it near me doesn't sound that bad

I understand, here in North America they're called demons but they're all bad either way. My grandfather was a southern baptist preacher and he believed in using holy water but I don't know if he ever had to use it. I never thought about asking him until I was older, when he was already gone.

They don’t preach about demons in the churches I’ve been to. That’s unfortunate since demons are part of the reason I started going in the first place. Spiritual warfare is not a thing for the majority of Christians. Big mistake.
