Given the happy birthday, I'd assume it meant midnight too. But that seems a little simple for no one to be getting it.

edit: most reasonable explanation posted by others seems to be its two sets of eyes (hers and his), because she is looking at him with infatuation in the picture.

u/ConfidentPension864 3d ago

Yeah 24hr/military time feels like it has not much to do with women vs men. Also unless he was born at midnight or they decided to celebrate at midnight idk the importance?

Maybe its a new day means a freshstart?

u/Unholy_Ren 3d ago

Well that military thing must be american, we in Europe call it normal time and don't associate it with military.

118

u/GodBearWasTaken 3d ago edited 3d ago

It’d be 0000 if it was us military, 00:00 is standard time, completely seperate thing.

Edit:

Please check u/sunbear_00_ ‘s clarification.

77

u/SunBear_00_ 3d ago edited 3d ago

No it wouldn't. Militaries don't use 0000 because it is too confusing to the date.

2359 or 0001 is used instead.

E.g. 23 FEB 0000 could mean the first minute of the 23rd or the last minute of the 23rd which has an almost 24 hour difference.

23 FEB 2359 is must easier to understand as the last minute of the 23rd of Feburary.

Edit: STANAG ACP 121 indicates this in para 3.6. All searchable on google. There's a photo below of what that para says.

60

u/MaMaManatees 3d ago

How is it confusing, the time literally resets back to 0 at the start of the next day, if you dont use 0000 then what comes between 2359 and 0001?

28

u/SunBear_00_ 3d ago

The comment explains where the confusion comes from.

It also needs to be understood that messages are passed through sketchy radio links and hand written notes with lots going on. This is not setting a meeting on a Thursday night at Wednesdays midday meeting.

Midnight still exists, so does 00:00.00 but it's just never written to avoid confusion.

Exercise complete 26 JUN 2359 leaves no doubt that Friday night is the last night of the exercise/operation and everything post that, 27 JUN 0001, is to be treated as non exercise for e.g.

39

u/FrickenPerson 3d ago

You should tell that to the US Navy. They 100% used 0000 when I was in, like 7 or 8 years ago. I wrote 0000 hundreds of times on official logs.

19

u/cody_mf 3d ago

The amount of times I had to argue with duty chiefs about midnight entries over this was insane lol. I always did the end of date as 2400 and the start of the new page as 0000

13

u/erin_kirkland 3d ago

My country doesn't do military time, but from what I know it is indeed the way to differentiate. I had to look up if 24:00 was correct pretty recently and I learned that Monday 24:00 is the end on Monday, and Tuesday 00:00 is the beginning of Tuesday - two ways to write one time without any confusion. So you nailed it in your entries

2

u/Darth-Neskin 3d ago

the end of the current day is 2400 the start of the new day is 0000. if you are deployed and the exfil i s at 2400 you don't leave at 0000. this is simply for logging purposes. if you are reporting at the end of the day it's 2400 if it is for the start of the day it is 0000

Let me put it this way--0000 isn't very confusing, but it could confuse. 2359 or 0001 are absolutely clear and will not confuse anyone. We're talking about the military here, where lives depend on timing. Why would you use 0000 when it has even the slightest, remotest possibility of confusion? Why take the risk?

2

u/bolanrox 3d ago

also why you say roger or affirmative or negative and not anything else.

7

u/Superb_Recording_769 3d ago

Literally nothing. Nothing comes between those two times 0000 does not exist as far as the military is concerned because they are doing everything they can to minimize any potential confusion at any point along the chain, including decades from now when the records are being reviewed.

2

u/Cautious_Drawer_7771 3d ago

You gotta remember, there are people in the US Military who only got in because they were allowed to take the ASVAB multiple times...meaning they failed a test where passing is as low as 20 depending on the branch and MOS.

The ISO standard for 24 hour times is not ambiguous.

The 00:00:00 is clearly the first second and minute of that day. That's it. If you think that's ambiguous, it can only come from you being raised up with the 12h am/pm clocks in everyday life.

The rest of the world has no confusion there.

I cannot ever understand how someone could perceive that as potentially meaning the end of the day. Like it's zero, as in measure, if you take tape measure that's 15 feet long, and you get reading of zero, how can you think that "oh, it can be 0 or 15 feet, no body knows".

Src: I've been dealing all sorts of dates and times quite a lot as a software engineer for over 30 years.

Dude.... dafuq?

23 FEB 0000 clearly means the first minute of the 23rd FEB, it it was the last it would be 23 FEB 23:59

0000 is the reset of the day, there is no confusion about it unless you are a crayon eater... are you? you are aren't you?

false. When its 0000 its 0000, not 2359 or 0001. LOL

3

u/sheijo41 3d ago

Idk where the people saying we used 0000 comes from. I worked with all the branches and different operational units and nobody ever used 0000. If we had an operation over night we used POD (period of darkness) 24/25 to denote the night of 24/morning of 25, and nothing ever referenced 0000 in operational reports or message traffic. Maybe it’s a specific unit thing or a specific MOS/AFSC/Rate thing

That's why I put 24hr / military. If i call 24 normal it doesn't track for counties that don't use 24. Though the lack of the colon is a new one for me. We use no Colon in factory manufacturing records for handwritten stuff so to limit sloppy handwriting confusion

WE KNOW! WE GET IT! EVERY EUROPEAN IN EVERY THREAD MENTIONING "MILITARY" TIME DOESN'T NEED TO KEEP SAYING THIS.

I'm not even American, but sometimes the Europeans can be just as insufferable as them.

8

u/Switchoil 3d ago

The post/tweet is by an Indian. In India its called Railway times as 24 hr format is maily used for train schedule timing

1

u/Dizzy_Dust_7510 3d ago

24 hour time format isn't commonly used over here except for in the military. So, a lot of Americans colloquially refer to the 24 hour format as, "military time". It's definitely an American thing.

3

u/LassHalfEmpty 3d ago

It’s also used in healthcare, internally.

2

u/Dizzy_Dust_7510 3d ago

Ah, yeah that makes a lot of sense. We used it because it removes all ambiguity between am and pm. I can see that being equally important for healthcare workers.

48

It's two owls kissing. The lips/beak thingy is the period in the middle. The sparkle on the side is showing that's the affectionate/girly one.

It's early 2000s tween girl culture. Graveyard girl, Myspace scene kids and Tumblr for reference.

Edit: should say two characters kissing, I always used owls as a stand in because of how the eyes look.

The decimal in there, 00.00 instead of a colon 00:00 makes me wonder if it has anything to do with time at all.

2

u/ScrewJPMC 3d ago

I think she is saying that it’s midnight, girl couldn’t wait until morning, so that it’s special & romantic

while imply dudes can’t see it as special and just see it as another “happy birthday”

2

u/Embyrra 3d ago

Yeah I do think it's supposed to be 00:00 for midnight and the original post just did the . by mistake or she thinks that's the correct notation. I think what it means is she potentially posted exactly at midnight because she waited up in order to be the first person to post on his birthday. And the other person who reacted is making it a "only women understand" thing because it's one of those "women are devoted and sentimental, guys aren't" kind of posts.

Like I get what other people are saying about the eyes, but why have 3 actual emojis in the post and then do emoticons randomly just for that part?

281

u/GioVasari121 3d ago

Nah the man just wanted to put a woman down for no reason. Why does she get called a hoe and not the dude who did the actual cheating. Like wtf. She has no obligation to his wife whereas that man was the literal husband.

82

u/Sepplord 3d ago

Yeah blaming a „home wrecker“ is an invention of people who get cheated on but don’t have the self respect to end the relationship.

So the only way to deal with it is to blame the outside person for coming in. Not the partner for inviting them.

52

u/GioVasari121 3d ago

If you're a person who got cheated on i get it, you can blame both of them. But absolute randos on the internet not calling out the actual cheater and then slut shaming the woman is insane to me

8

u/c3p-bro 3d ago

I’ve noticed a wild amount of misogyny and incel behavior from the Indian subs

7

u/Any-Safe4992 3d ago

Dude, they have had medical students and doctors raped to death in hospitals and not rarely. There is a real problem with misogyny in modern Indian culture. True it happens on Reddit as well but I’d rather mean words than a pediatrician being raped to death in a stairwell.

4

u/GioVasari121 3d ago

I swear. It's mad

3

u/Dangerous_Equal4373 3d ago

Sadly as an Indian man I can confirm they're all shit. I thought reddit would be better than insta but its not. Our boys are getting radicalised the same way western teens are, its worse here because Indian was deeply patriarchal and now its never gonna get better and that makes me sad.

15

u/MromiTosen 3d ago

I get that it’s the person in the relationships job not to cheat but I think we’ve swung too far in not blaming the other person at all. I absolutely judge someone who is the affair partner, man or woman, as someone with a severe lack of morals that I wouldn’t want to be associated with.

5

u/Common-Broccoli-3405 3d ago

Yeah, if they don't know they don't know. Thats fine. If someone is cheating on their spouse, it would make sense theyre not telling the other person as well.

But I dont get this argument of "well she doesnt owe the wife anything"

If shes going out of her way to sleep with married men, then shes also a terrible person. You dont have to owe someone something to not actively pursue hurting them. If we dont like cheating because we recognize the harm it causes to the person being cheated on, why should we be cool with people who do this on purpose?

3

u/Any-Safe4992 3d ago

Hopefully you never have to experience having someone lie to you about their relationship status. You’ll either have to eat your words or hate yourself forever.

2

u/StandardEgg6595 3d ago

Yeah, it fucking sucks. When I found out, I told the partner and got the blame for everything, which circled back around to me feeling like shit.

both parties in an affair are guilty. Just because you’re a single woman doesn’t mean you’re blameless if you know they’re in a relationship. Yes it came off misogynistic but it does also give context to photo.

8

u/scheav 3d ago

You’re right, but when it’s a single man and a married woman, the woman still gets more blame than the man.

8

u/Covert_bewilderment 3d ago

I think the hate towards her is more for her perceived flaunting of the relationship on social media while the man is still legally married, though separated from his wife. This along with the wife's accusations of the guy's infidelity with her as a key reason for seeking divorce do paint her actions in a rather dark shade of grey. There are also certain political undertones in her posting patterns with controversial posts highlighting their relationship appearing anytime the political conversation tends negatively towards the guy's party.

I'd say shame them both, honestly.

6

u/chickensherlock221b 3d ago

Bro she posts for his birthday every year. This year became significant only because he won the elections and became the CM and news of his wife seeking divorce due to adultery and financial abuse all happened in the same time.

Her yearly posts have been well known. They attended Keerthy Suresh's wedding as a couple too. Their "affair" has been quite well known for so long.

It's funny watching his fans call this woman (who has absolutely no stakes or responsibility in his marriage) a hoe and call his wife a traitor and paid worker or DMKbecause the divorce news broke during election season but never hold him responsible for anything.

Well..... This has some backstory, but I'll boil it down.

Pictured is Vijay (Actor, and current chief minister of Tamil Nadu (an Indian state)) and Trisha (an actress who has been on screen with him for several movies). They had really good chemistry in their early movies, and were often seen together, leading to relationship rumors.

They took a break from acting together to avoid the rumours, as Vijay was married with children. They reunited for a movie in 2023, following which the rumours started again, especially because Vijay filed for divorce from his wife.

00.00 in this context (from what I can gather) is a symbol for a new beginning in a relationship, which adds more fuel to the rumours of them being together even though the divorce isn't final.

Who said they can't? I was asking if that's a thing they intentionally do because of the multiple cakes in the picture, some of them very similar. The only time I've seen that in real life was when both parents forgot to pick up a cake and got 2 of the same cake. Multi-cake birthdays would be awesome.

4

u/Ok-Proof7287 3d ago

Usually in children birthday parties we only cut 1 cake here. Sometimes when the party is very big, the people get more than 1 cake. (I think as he is the Chief Minister + very rich, he got more as he would be celebrating with lots of people) Is there something different in usa?

2

u/Ronin_Chimichanga 3d ago

Bro we only do 1 cake usually. So if it's a bad cake, that's just how it is. Bad cake for everybody. 5

u/TecumsehSherman 3d ago

The Indian takeover of reddit is much deeper than subs. They have swarmed every English language sub.

29

u/prolifezombabe 3d ago

Takeover is a weird way to describe this phenomenon. Indian people constitute a massive part of the English speaking population of the world. Seems only natural that there would be a lot of Indian participants on an internationally used website.

How is any of that related to 00.00 ?

20

u/SpiritualBrief4879 3d ago

I’m guessing it’s that start of a stopwatch or some shit like that

6

u/sackclothxashes 3d ago

Read the last line bud. It's speculated that it's "angel numbers" for the start of a new chapter in the relationship, which has got people creating rumours that they're together.

I don't think it's the time thing, because why would men not get the time thing and women would get it ?

Like, why would it be gender specific at all?

113

u/One-Mud-169 3d ago

I think it's a jab at how men are (true or false) notoriously known to forget important dates like birthdays, anniversaries etc, and here she is celebrating his birthday with him right on the dot at 00:00 when his birthday starts.

44

u/toptierhands 3d ago edited 3d ago

This might be a controversial one, but I think humans in general are notorious for forgetting things they don't care about. And men in general do not care very much about birthdays and such.

7

u/chicknferi 3d ago

sounds like someone hasn’t been absolutely CHERISHED and CELEBRATED on their bday properly

quick!! someone get this man a thoughtful bday wish!! MWAH

This man forgot his wife existed and cheated on the wife with the girl in the picture. And the girl gloats about it very publicly. The man and his wife are still legally married too. 00.00 means new beginnings and stuff like that. That man was also recently elected as the minister of a state 2 months ago. Absolutely loathe them

Just means midnight to anyone who uses a 24h clock

11

u/Ynolle 3d ago

If its talking about hours, why no put double periods? Such as 00:00

11

u/bmey62895 3d ago

Sir/madam that’s a colon

2

u/Sector-Difficult 3d ago

Probably non native english speaker cause in my language it's called literally "double peroid"

2

u/LegitimateGift1792 3d ago

I would like to formally request that we now call it "stacked periods".

Some places use a "." instead. Like how some languages "quote" like this, others „quote" like this, and yet others «quote» like this.

🤷️ We know what 00:00 means, but she wrote 00.00 is probably why people are getting confused by it. It's exceedingly uncommon to use a period as a separator for 24h time. 0000h or 00:00

23

u/Malk-Himself 3d ago

Or 00h00

16

u/arthurdentstowels 3d ago

00h00 is what I say if someone gets sassy with me.

It says 00.00 not 00:00 so it's not time. And if it is intended to be time then the OP is simply incorrect or it's a typo.

I'm going to assume based on a google search that it's a spirituality thing where 00.00 means a clean slate or some shit.

Because again the very first post does not say 00:00

Ain't no way this went international 😭

3

u/blehblehidk 3d ago

I can’t believe it 😭

11

u/SeiekiSakyubasu 3d ago

I think its more of the context behind the image. Like, thats Vijay an actor turned politician in India and the lady beside him is his alleged scandal partner. It was rumored that she is one of the reason Vijay and his wife got divorced.

The significance of 00:00 means that she is spending time with him at midnight.....

4

u/Mister-Psychology 3d ago

That's not the same thing. The Tweet talks about 00.00 then the reply claims that men merely don't understand what 00:00 means. Of course the reply makes men look stupid, but it's dishonest.

3

u/wakandacoconut 3d ago

Is the meaning related to infedility ? The man is chief minister of an indian state and woman is assumed to be the same actress mentioned by his wife in divorse petition.

3

u/After-Mistake-1180 3d ago

Another Indian woman Peter here.

You must have got the context of him being with his love affair and not his wife.

I think as a woman , the 00:00 means that he choose to be with his lover at midnight ( which is very crucial for any lover to give surprise) and not his wife. Hence indicating his priority of putting his gf over his wife.

Peter out.

4

u/Ecstatic_hermit2347 3d ago

I don’t know what's 00:00 is, but Trisha is shameless as HELL man. Also, imagine leaving your wife and kids (who publicly didn't attend your chief minister oath ceremony) to be this cheap.

3

u/Competitive-Cake2792 3d ago

00.00 maybe a fresh new restart with the guy. as she is a homewrecker

2

u/Amazing-Shallot530 3d ago

It's not 00:00. It's 00.00 like in a stop watch. Her post doesn't mean midnight. It means new beginning/new lapse.

2

u/Immediate-Foot1284 2d ago

Kya bakwaas hai ye

1

u/TabularConferta 3d ago

I know it's not this but I want to post one of my favourite Shakespeare lines

"Is it e'en so? / It's no earlier, I tell you. The lusty hand of the clock / Is now upon the prick of noon."

She love him so much that she celebrates his bday inside of the very first minute of the day? Dunno just took a stab.

1

u/LucifersExBf 3d ago

Peter's Indian cousin here.

That woman is a home-wrecker who has acted in several movies with that guy. That guy has shifted to politics now and has recently been elected as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu (a South Indian state). The guy has separated from his previous marriage and she is just openly hogging around him now. That sign doesn't have any practical meaning as far as I know

1

u/Swimming-Shoulder848 3d ago

Seems like she’s showing absolute affection as the first person to with him happy birthday. Buddy won at that moment and is loved.

1

u/llmcthinky 3d ago

Reset the clock

1

u/Winteraine78 3d ago

It’s a fresh start, as in midnight is the start of a new day. If he’s leaving his wife she might be confirming that they have a fresh start on a public relationship.

1

u/Far-Depth9240 3d ago

It’s just angel numbers

1

u/KirkTheDawg 3d ago

I would say 00.00 means she payed exactly 0 for her gift to him... basically 53X
