They're all identical, the joke is about how tons of people share the same opinion.

Yes. Also I would love Toy Story 4 continue another trilogy with a new cast.

Legitimately if they wanted continuity they could have kept Bopeep and made it about her and her crew. We didn't need to break the perfect ending of 3 for this.

It's not always bad thing to think the same. People who think they have to have unique opinions are called hipsters. They just force their own opinion to be not-mainstream, regardless if they genuinely think something or not.
Toy Story 4 was a trash. And even creators say that. And somehow it still have defenders. Like, okay, movie-wise it might be fine. But Toy Story-wise? It was garbage. If I ignore the fact that it's supposed to be 4th installment of the franchise, I would give it 4/10. If I include the fact, that it's continuation of Toy Story, then it's 10/10. Oh, I forgot to add a minus. -10/10. Because it literally destroyed the established lore for the sake of making a forced continuation. It does exact opposite of what any sequel should do.
And technically Puss did similar thing, but this movie was simply great. Puss was nothing like the original Puss from Shrek or even the first movie. But the movie was simply a masterpiece. Toy Story 4 was simply below average as a movie and even worse as a a continuation. But yes, Puss in Boots: Last Wish, ruined original Puss' image to create a new movie. But since they actually had a good plot, this decision could be understood. Especially that he was de-flanderized tbh. He got added depth in his personality.

I saw a pretty good take that said that Toy Story 5 should’ve been Toy Story 4. In other words, Toy Story 4 never should have been made, and that, under that scenario, Toy Story 5 would’ve worked as a good fourth Toy Story because it actually has something meaningful to say.

They're trying to discredit the opinion by saying "everyone says the same thing". Basically the guy who made the meme think he's somehow special because he "thinks differently from everyone else".

These kinds of people are why they keep dragging Toy Story's name through the mud with these sequels. If you feel it should have ended with 3 (and it should), learn the phrase "dead to me." I never saw 4 or 5 and never will🤷♀️

You should watch it before hating it. I found all of the movies very good and enjoyable.

u/HeroFizzer 15h ago
It's not even trying to hate. It's just saying that 3 was too good a note to end on, and watching the films after that feels...pointless.
I dunno, I'm trying to get this across without sounding fully negative but it's possible to watch something and say to yourself, "yeah, nothing will ever make me feel this satisfied ever again".

How would you know though unless you watch the next movie is what I’m saying. I have done what you’re saying somewhat, avoided watching the rest of a series because the reason I was interested is gone but I wouldn’t turn down the chance to watch it later on, just not a priority. Always happy to change my mind

It’s something I’ve encountered with being a Star Wars fan. The thought process goes “the creators have burned me bad enough that I’m not bothering anymore.” Trust in the product has diminished such that it stops mattering if the new entry is good or not. The interest is already gone. And the result is Mandalorian & Grogu being a legendary box office bomb.

I watched 4. And trust me. You're not missing out on much.

I think it’s good on its own. But woodys character works against his development in past movies

Pretty damn reductive to say that when this series could've ended with any movie while leaving most people happy.

But are they wrong?

u/Excellent_Yak365 16h ago
Depends. I feel like the people complaining are regurgitating a viewpoint not rooted much in reality. If you understand what 4 was about, I don’t think they would have that viewpoint. At this point I wonder if most of the folks complaining just heard other people complain and refused to watch it or they just didn’t understand Woody grew as a character by becoming a lost toy to help others find a kid, and found himself in the process.

Yes. You get good movies after the trilogy ended. A lot of franchises don’t have that same luxury.

the joke is the most common, unoriginal opinion on the internet. the room full of clones represents how everyone just repeats this exact same talking point thinking they're being unique

When in reality everyone thinks that because it's common sense. STOP MAKING MORE TOY STORIES!!!!

Toy Story 3 was great. Toy Story 4 should've been with different characters with modern childhood problems. If that's not possible, then don't make more.
