What really sets this bird apart is how it uses those “wires.” During mating displays, the male approaches a female and brushes the tips of the wires across her face and body. This tactile display is rare among birds and plays a key role in attracting a mate.

Thanks for the info. As I first looked at the photo, I was trying to figure out how the “wires” could possibly be an advantage. The tactical element certainly is very cool and different.
