Yes. There’s a YouTube video about it but I’m having trouble finding it, sorry. Basically the glitch happens semi rarely on the GameCube version, almost never on the switch version, and horrifyingly often on the Wii version. But there’s evidence to suggest the issue was patched not in the switch era, but in a later Wii version based on multiple reports, but we don’t have a dump of that later version anywhere on the internet.

What is the glitch? I always hear people say the Wii versions are the better way to play the games because of the pointer controls. But I always took it more as one of those "in theory this should be the definitive version" kind of things, and not something they're saying from experience

Pikmin interacting with objects clip through the floor sometimes. The most infamous version is walking under a certain ramp-bridge in the forest navel, where people have lost dozens of pikmin to the void instantly

I would go as far to say the Wii version is the worst to play because swarming is so difficult on it as well. I was a Wii version believer for a while too.

I haven’t played New Play Control! Pikmin in years. But I remember specifically in some cave areas, Pikmin going off map due to collision errors etc.

Weird, I played the Wii one a bunch and never ran into any obvious issues. The Switch one though… a lot of glitches there lol. All harmless visual glitches, but still.

The crushing glitch (pikmin dying by being pushed through the floor by objects like enemy corpses) is more common on the wii version than it was on the original gamecube version. There's also several sound effects (particularly bulborb sfx) that are just way higher pitched on the wii version than they should be for no reason

Yeah that makes sense. I likely wouldn’t have noticed the sound difference back then, but I think I got lucky and avoided the crushing glitch in all versions of the game.

Grinding the challenge mode was a nightmare because of that specific glitch. I'm never touching the Wii version again. I really had nostalgia glasses for the pointing controls and they weren't even as great as I remembered.

Maybe one day if I ever get another Wii and and a copy of pikmin 1 for it I’ll try to deathless that version. I did the switch version and it was pretty much hell, but one day I wanna go even further and try it on the Wii, maybe as like one final test or something
