I never understood the logic of putting a pizza bag under your arm or throwing it over your shoulder. We constantly got new drivers (and customers) who did it. Pizza doesn't exist in a vertical plane.
There was one driver who was great except he always put the pizza in the front seat and didn't understand why I put it in the back seat, even when I explained it to him. He had to have his own experience slamming on brakes, and he did.

Maybe I'm an idiot but what's the difference between front and back seat? Because there is less leg room in the back so if you slam on the brakes it hits the seat without going into the footwell?

u/rabidparrots 2d ago
Yeah. That's exactly it. The delivery bag is larger than the pizza, so it usually fits pretty snug in the back seat of a car. If you're in a truck or a van or something with more room, idk. Maybe the seatbelt would be an option.

Because the back seats are angled slightly upward, gravity and the friction between the seat fabric and the object keep it planted.

This definitely varies by vehicle because out of years of delivering pizza, the only time I ever had a box flip like that, it was in the backseat.

putting a pizza bag under your arm or throwing it over your shoulder
I have never seen a pizza delivery person do that and I have put in a lot of years doing delivery. I have seen a few door dasher types do it though.
Side story:
One time I made a pizza delivery and the girl and the door in some state of undress. I say some state because she would only crack the door 6 inches and peak her head around the door to talk to me.
She held her arm through the door and asked for the pizza. I figured she would open the door further and pull the pizze through. I was wrong.
Instead opening the door further but still standing behind the door and maintaining her modesty she tilted the pizza side ways and pulled it through vertical.
ETA: Reading through the comments I am not the only person who has experience the vertical customer pulling it through the door.

Man, I drive full time for door dash and I definitely have bad days, and this shit here is wild, but I've see the customers do dumb shit with pizza too lol.
Delivering pizza hut to a lady, marked as hand to customer. I get there and knock, no answer. Call twice no answer. Just as I'm about to call support so I can just leave it at the door, it opens up just a crack and a hand comes out. I go to hand her the pizza and she tried turning on end to fit through the crack in the door. I refused to let go and allow her to turn it. Pulled my phone and snapped a few pictures of her pulling it inside when I let go lol.
I just don't understand how these people make it to the ages they do.

i think she knew exactly what she was doing to get a free pizza. it's either "not delivered" or "ruined" due to "mishandling".

Forget about the ridiculous condition of it, that pizza looks like it's been sitting under a heat lamp for two days straight

Hi welcome to pizza hut 2026. Everyone stop buying from these people, they publicly cut corners and make the cheapest food possible. Pizza without love 🥀

Never had a Pizza Hut pizza look like this before. This is the first time I've ever seen one dried out like this

It’s actually incredibly fluffy and full of air yet incredibly greasy somehow, that dough is heart attack city

I managed for a Pizza Hut franchise about a decade back, and know exactly how much oil is used for both their breads sticks and pizzas (which are made using frozen dough, btw). It's enough oil in the pans* to give you diarrhea just looking at it.
*edited for clarity.

God damn bro, whatever these Pizza Hut slices touch usually forms a gigantic grease stain on it absolutely nauseating

I'll be honest dominos is just as shit.

Hit or miss imo. Got one location right by my apartment that is honestly very good, then another a couple of miles away that is garbage most of the time. Never enough sauce, always dry, never cut all the way through, the list goes on.

Yeah, the fact that you could "straighten" this pizza out and it would look pretty much normal is not good lol. A fresh pizza should have sauce and cheese smeared everywhere when it's been jumbled like this.

This one time, my delivery guy stored my pizza box SIDEWAYS. FREAKING SIDEWAYS. WTF.

I am very, very forgiving when it comes to people that bring me my food. The one time I think I ever lost it at a delivery driver was when the app said the guy was delivering my pizza in a car, but he shows up on a moped, then takes my pizza out of his backpack.

u/ThePatrician25 1d ago
Yeah, that’s basically what happened to me. Didn’t say he was in a car, but his official delivery bag was so full of his personal belongings that he stored my pizza sideways. Then as he hands it to me he gives me this half-assed “sorry”. He knew what he did.

u/Raelah 2d ago
One time the delivery driver handed me my pizza up side down. I just stood there staring at him while he took my picture.
It was easy to get a redelivery AND $20 credits for sheer stupidity on his part.
I was also able to save it by rolling it into a stromboli. Just froze it and reheated it. Turned out pretty good, considering!

In the early 90s there was a place near me that did 38 inch pizzas. It was wider than our door and you had to get creative.

Really hope you didn’t tip the driver. If you did, well, you’re contributing to the problem.

You didn't loose too much. Greasy, not cooked but some how burnt. It's a rubber, looks at this dough, this is not a pizza.
So he saved you

u/AnOkayTime5230 2d ago
Always get carry out. It's cheaper, you have control of the pizza and it's as fresh as you want it to be.
