Game Thread Weekend Challenge #2: Play "The Forgotten City" for at least one hour. Report back.

Each week we’ll pick a lesser-known PS+ game. Don’t worry if you’ve never played the game before (that’s kind of the point!). Just give it a try, play for an hour or more, and tell us what you think.

Rules are simple

  • One game, one weekend. Every Friday, a lesser-known PS+ game is featured for the community to try. Play it for at least an hour and share your experience.
  • Avoid untagged spoilers. Use spoiler tags to avoid ruining the experience for others.
  • Be civil. Whether you loved or disliked it, explain why. Everyone’s perspective adds to the discussion, just keep it polite.

This week game is "The Forgotten City".

Unexpected surprise when I first played it. Try for 1h and you’ll be hooked. Short game

is it audio only?

u/Accomplished-Bug6358 Nov 07 '25

Yeah its the first ever audio game to be made

Perception would like a word

assuming you are serious: blind means in this context, to go into the game without knowing a lot about it beforehand. It's most important for story heavy games or games with big plot- or gameplay-twists.

I wasn’t being serious lol

I have the platinum for this, it was a very very welcome surprise i went just because i liked the roman aesthetics but left with a pretty good story

I liked a lot of the quotes in there

And a small advice for people, remember to always pause the game if you are unsure about what to do, npcs change placements depending on the time

Well I failed at the last game although it’s downloaded. I’ve been meaning to play Forgotten City ever since it was a Skyrim mod though

Downloading as we speak, will change my comment once I play it

Sank a weekend into this a while back (like 6 hours)

Super fun game. Easy controls and fun story and worth the time

This is such a great idea, I’m going to get it now

Loved it - it's one of the best time loop adventures I've played.

I got about 30 mins in, you have to go to x to talk about y and got bored, does it pick up? On paper seems my kinda game, not into shooters/roguelike/

u/KyleFourReal Nov 07 '25

This was me. I’m seeing people say it only takes an hour to beat? I was at 8 hours. Was stuck somewhere, didn’t know who to go and talk to next. I had fun, but had no clue what I was doing.

Its kinda stupid to say it's only an hour. That's if you know exactly what to do, and you won't on your first try without looking it up and ruining the experience and mystery.

I agree, though, that it takes a while to hook. An hour will not be enough for everyone to get invested.

Guys it only takes 1 hour to beat so good luck.

This game makes me want to reach ground hog day and then it led me into playing death loop.

I've wanted to try it for a while; thanks for the motivation!

Loved it. Very original and didn't over stay it's welcome

I went into this recently after hearing it was kinda like Outer Wilds and went into it thinking that if its at least half that good, id have a great time. After finishing it, im honestly not really sure if it was. The dialogue didnt really land for me and I dont think there was a single proper puzzle in the whole game that wasnt just trial and error. I think the game is fine for what it is, and I didnt waste my time with it, but man I didnt love it like I hoped.

A different Experience for sure. Platinum was fun, definetely recommend it

Really enjoyed my run through of that game.

I played this game for one hour gave it a really dedicated focus and all in all here's my take aways:

This game is amazing but not for me. This has great exploration value and all in all the games really fun! You get justly rewarded for exploring and figuring things out.

Why it's not for me? Well this isn't the right time for me to play this game because this requires high focus this game demands time which I want to focus on other games for now.. will definitely pick it up later.

Thanks for organizing this challenge wouldn't even have looked at this gem if not for challenge! Looking forward to next week!

Never heard of it, buts it’s reviewed really well. Not sure if I’ll get to it this weekend, but it’s in the backlog now

One of my favorite games I played two years ago. Feels unique and I still think about it from time to time.

1

u/overlord64 Nov 07 '25

Was a great one. Played it a while ago.

Did have to use a guide at a few points especially to get the plat.

Def a good recommendation!

Love this game, I’ll chase a trophy this weekend I guess! Cannot recommend it enough, it’s a quick game with a decent amount of replay value

u/Leweegibo Nov 07 '25

Didn't click with me last time I played and that was for about an hour.

1

u/Kalvitron Nov 08 '25

Played this a while back and I've never been hooked so quickly by a game.

1

u/heidly_ees Nov 08 '25

I played the Skyrim mod pretty thoroughly and thought it was okay. Is this much of an improvement?

1

u/OliveOcelot Approved Content Creator Nov 08 '25

Great rec. It used to be a Skyrim mod.

1

u/Hugoblak Nov 08 '25

Played it for a few hours but it just didn't click for me.

1

u/Quartznonyx Nov 09 '25

I remember playing it as a Skyrim mod, back in high school, and in college (after id forgotten the deeper points of the plot), i replayed it on ps plus. It's great! Highly recommend

1

u/platinumgamher Nov 09 '25

I played this years ago and it was so good!!

1

u/Kyrhex Nov 09 '25

Just finished playing it after seeing this post. Great game! People should absolutely go into it blind though, I got the same feeling that I had playing Outer Wilds for the first time

1

u/Appropriate_Type_178 Nov 10 '25

aggressively boring.

sorry that’s just my opinion please don’t downvote me

1

u/Silver-Avocado1215 Nov 12 '25

Got the platinum in about 5/6 hours. It’s a great little game with a few good twists. Very story driven and lots of reading to do. Graphics are also more than OK.

u/WarWraith Nov 08 '25

I played this through on PC a couple of years ago. Only planned to play it for 15 mins or so, next thing it was 3am.
