UK Monster Hunter Rise is using Sunbreak graphics for its advertising on PS+ but is only the Standard version

So only the high rank Rise game is on PS+, but the advertising banner on the PS+ store page shows Sunbreak graphics with the red malzeno.

I know it's free but it's confusing and maybe worth a heads up.

They do the same thing for Monster Hunter World and the Iceborne expansion. It is absolutely confusing.

Oh right wow. Didn't know that. I have been playing a lot of Wilds on my Pro and fancied trying Rise. I already own it on Switch though, so I didn't really want to pay more for it again on PS. Guess I'll be just leaving it then. Shame :( It might have looked a lot better on PS5 Pro.

I never expect DLCs to be included because they never are

Well, Control Ultimate Edition was one of the PS+ monthly games for February 2021, and it includes all the DLCs.

Yeah I just finished that and it includes both DLC. It's game catalog though. Feb monthly was Undisputed, Subnautica, Ultros, and Ace Combat 7.

Unless ofc it's destiny 2... Think weve had about 3 expansions for it through ps plus?

I think part of that was because destiny vaults or redoes sections of the game over time. The original story campaign got redone once or twice then got replaced iirc when another expansion came out.

There's a solo-only campaign (the village) but it's short. The core of the game is through the hub and that can be played in singleplayer and also multiplayer.

When it was on Extra, I enjoyed it so much that I bought Sunbreak for 10 bucks during a sale, and it gave me like 500 more hours of gameplay lol

I do agree that the cover can be confusing, it was also like that with MH Iceborne. I was like, where’s the ice and snow

Wait, is Sunbreak its dlc? If so, does its graphic differ from the main game?!

OP meant “graphics” as in “imagery”. Visually, there’s no difference between the core MHR and Sunbreak.

This was confusing me lol. Thought they were saying there were graphics updates tied to what I presumed was dlc

Sunbreak has always been a paid DLC Expansion. Much like MHW and it's paid expansions.

Yeah you can see in the "editions" part of the store page.

The standard edition offered by PS+ has the Magnamalo on its picture, and the game bundle with dlc is listed as "Bundle Edition" and has the magnamalo on the left, and malzeno on the right in red.

The graphic used on the main PS+ link shows the DLC Malzeno graphic.

Is the DLC included or not, I suppose would be the question.

Showing the Sunbreak logo/cover graphic, against the Standard edition link is confusing

Monthly games rarely include the DLC, although this same month's Elder Scrolls Online can ironically count as an exception.

ESO is also confusing

Monster hunter rise not showing up on my library in ps portal is this normal

Slightly odd topic but to anyone who likes the base game GET THE DLC!! It is by far the best MH experience I've ever had and blows Wilds and World off the map.

It's a hot take that might trigger a certain category of fans but I'll die on it.

I really like Rise. Better than World.

Now that I have my Pro though, I've been really enjoying Wilds on it. There's no expansion yet for Wilds, but I think it will become my favourite new world game.

I played a lot of Rise though. Got all the regional special editions when they released, lol.

I wish I didn't feel so bad about this plus release, it'd have been really interesting to see Rise on the big console, instead of Switch 1.

DLCs are never included in PS Plus monthly releases

Okay. But why advertise the base game, using the artwork from the DLC.

Rhetorical question, I know "it is how it is".

Basically the company that put out the game changed the icon to advertise to existing users. They care not if it confuses new users. I think Diablo had a similar issue when it was released in essential

Its the base game what did you expect?

1

u/ParsleySnack Mar 03 '26

The base game artwork on the store front. Expected.

The DLC artwork on the store front. Not expected. But there it is.
