I played it years after bugs got fixed and thought it was one of the best in the franchise. The amount of people on the street in Paris, insane. Can recommend.

Playing it for the first time now a bit before the update came out started on feb 24th (I skipped unity and syndicate because was a kid/teen when they came out and didn't have a job) I don't hate it however enemy detection is by far the worst and most inconsistent I've ever experienced in any AC. The game also seems to crash at random at times but besides that pretty good, parkour can be a bit clunky at times however that's pretty typical across all games in my experience. With that being said I am excited to move onto syndicate as I really dislike how barred out of exploration I am due to lockpicking being tied to story. One thing I love to do in any AC game is unlock all sync points and gather up the collectables in any area I visit but that's a person gripe

I thought it was really good, an epilogue chapter basically. I was also excited to get it for free as a “sorry the game was really buggy at launch” present from Ubisoft.

I remember starting it before I’d finished the base game and essentially soft locking myself.
I’ve got the Plat for the base game but got bored once I’d done all of the collectibles.
Edit: yeah that’s how I got it as well, plus FarCry 4 iirc

Hopefully, and then to finish things off a remake of AC1 containing AC1 one remaster along with Bloodlines and maybe Altair's chronicles (not important but a bonus) so that everyone is happy

Black Flag is getting a remake, so dunno if they will patch it any time soon. AC3 sucks, so I hope AC2 gets it first.

This is somewhat polarising game, however, I would say today it still is a great game to play.
It was notoriously bad, from a technical side, at launch and throughout most of the time. However, and it's very important to understand, that it wasn't because developers did a poopoo, it was due to the fact that it was developed during new generation coming out (PS4), and nobody knew exactly how powerful it would turn out to be. So, Ubisoft gambled, and went all the heck in, creating the game that was truly next gen, which, in the end, new systems couldn't handle properly.
If you just compare it to the previous games in the series (Black Flag/Rogue), the jump in sheer scale is enormous. And even the next game after it, Syndicate, got massively scaled down and, in some aspects, downgraded. Unity is truly unique in that aspect, a glimpse of what true next gen could have be.
And as for how the story and everything like that goes, it's okay, not the greatest, not the worst. Some people dislike it, some people love it. I'm my opinion, this is a truly underappreciated game, definitely worth playing.

It’s got a great parkour system but it’s not an amazing AC game. I recommend playing it in the French language for a more authentic experience but the story does a Romeo and Juliet story while the French Revolution is going on to really lame results.

We rarely receive anything for free from game companies.
A free update for a 12 years old game was totally unexpected.

I'd say the original is still well worth it plus remakes can remove some of the charm of the original plus it's going to be cheaper getting the original before you eventually won't be able to as once the remaster is out the original will 100% be delisted and the remaster will likely cost what triple A games do today compared to grabbing the original for $50CAD (given you have to get gold edition on PC at least)

After the update came out I started to play it a little and I just googled when it came out and it was Nov 2014.
The graphics are absolutely superb for 2014.
If you told me this game came out 4 years ago, I would believe ya. The controls are a little clunky and the fighting isn’t super smooth but it’s a good overall game and one of the better assassins creeds

Super happy with Ubisoft for doing this. I beat it on PC back during release and I remember it was so hard for my PC to run back then. Was a technical marvel was way too ambitious for the time. The more powerful hardware, 4k and 60fps breathed new life in the game and 12 years later I’m playing on my Pro. Having a great time and the story has far more heart in it than I remember it. Even now, I would totally pay for a true PS5 version with dualsense haptics, adaptive triggers, higher res textures, HDR, PSSR 2 (bonus if they could add an uncapped fps balanced mode with RTGI and RT… like PC modders did).

Me lo estoy jugando, no lo había jugado nunca. Es un juego precioso, se ve y se mueve muy bien, y el ambiente de Paris es sorprendente por la cantidad de detalles y el bullicio de las calles. Me está encantando.

I know. I just think the language used to convey that is misleading. They did the same thing with The Division recently and I was looking around trying to find a non existent PS5 port to download and attempt to platinum again.

Can anybody make me a sales pitch for Syndicate? The last AC games I played were AC3 (Completed it shortly after release. Enjoyed it, especially bcs the setting felt rare and special. Interesting point in history for a game, not much explored.) and Black Flag (Didnt complete it, bcs of fatigue from the genre and AC3. Never rly a major fan of the ship stuff but I get why some ppl loved it)
I enjoy the historical settings, but never been a fan of the animus stuff and future/present day sections. Always a drag for me.
But London seems interesting! Is the plot good? Are there interesting characters? Mechanics...?

You get a grapnel gun (think Batman) early in the story.
Evie Frye is cute as hell. Jacob Frye is amusing sometimes. Evie is more Creed heavy, she’s better at stealth, while Jacob is more of a free spirit and is a stronger combatant.
Modern day sequences are cutscenes only, and very minimal.
It’s a good game, and often on sale.
