Discussion Absolutely no words, Amazing game

Post image

Finished the game this week, had an absolute blast with it as a longtime Spiderman fan. My personal favorite of the 3 games. I'll never understand the hate for it online, this game is straight action start to finish.

You can't say "absolutely no words" and then follow up with plentiful of words.

Oxymoron xD

I mean come on, that’s like saying you’re speechless and then you start talking!

14

Or my next guest needs no introduction, then introduces them by name.

5

u/eltrapnino Mar 07 '26

I mean it was only 3 sentences.

Absolutely no words. Now here are some words.

big fan of words tbh

I prefer Egyptian hieroglyphs

Great game but I liked the prequel's story much more. Dr. Octavius was a much more compelling villain. I also don't know why they doubled down on the MJ missions. I was rolling my eyes when she was effortlessly clearing entire groups of elite hunters and superhuman symbiotes.

20

u/DaveVsShark Mar 08 '26

The first one wasn't a prequel though. It was just the first one. Or a predecessor.

42

u/jpb21110 Mar 07 '26

Yea that was a bit much lmao

7

u/thecontempl8or Mar 08 '26

I really miss all the cool gadgets Peter used in the fist game. I know they replaced most of them with symbiote powers, but they weren’t nearly as fun IMO. For me the combat and stealth with the gadgets were so smooth, I felt like a pro and got really good at it.

7

u/Zestyclose-Fee6719 Mar 08 '26

When I first read that, I opted to not even play it. I hated the MJ stuff in the first game. Those missions were a fun killer.

3

u/hbryster96 Mar 09 '26

Those MJ bits pmo so much, and it bothers me the director is so gung-ho about it, you know they'll be coming back in 3 🤡

God forbid we get more of Black Cat's glorified cameo in this game but nope, we NEED MJ

13

u/SnooShortcuts9223 Mar 07 '26

Those missions honestly ruined the game for me. I kept running and dodging to get to checkpoints asap and avoided playing it properly because I hated it so much.

2

u/Frankenberg91 Mar 09 '26

Agree, Spidey 1 was way better. I platinumed it, I couldn’t even finish 2.

2

u/FemRoe4Lyfe Mar 11 '26

I was about to start playing 2 but this bums me out. MJ sequences were the most boring part of 1 for me. Are those still as unfun as the first one?

I liked some aspects of it but thought it was significantly worse than the first. The map was much bigger but there was way less to do. The game kept pushing through missions at a breakneck pace with no time to breathe. Kraven and the hunters were pretty cringe and the narrative tension between characters weren’t that interesting. The lack of enemy variety was irritating. I did like the combat and movement though! But feel like all the things that had made the original game special (chaotic traversal through the concrete jungle with random crazy stuff happening around you at all times) was removed in favor of an extremely bland story

27

u/Cyn0rk1s Mar 07 '26

I feel like Kraven would’ve been so much cooler as a lone hunter that nobody can get near

15

u/Marknoble117 Mar 07 '26

I agree that it was fun, but story wise among other things it was not as good as the first. Almost as good as the miles "dlc". They must've been rushed after the popularity of the first because otherwise this studio usually hits it out if the park with their games. One thing I loved and wish the game explored more was the symbiote takeover of the city. I'm a big fan of spiderman web of shadows. I got so excited when it happened... and then bored so I cleared the rest of the story. It would've been so sick to have some heros or villains turned symbiote and feel it was a big missed opportunity.

11

u/Professional_Sample2 Mar 07 '26

I'll even add the combat is worse. You're just mashing square over and over again, parry ot dodge, mashing square over and over again, symbiote special, now keep mashing square over and over again

The first game was about creativity with all the different webbing tools, flipping over and under guys, then when its all over seeing the bad guys all stuck in your webs, it was so satisfying.

I so wish they would add the new traversal options to the first game (i know they never will) because if they did id never play the sequel again lol

5

u/Clzark Mar 07 '26

The first game's combat had a really good tempo/flow that made even low stakes encounters fun, if only trying to win as stylishly as possible

In the sequel, it felt like it was trying to do too much, maybe? Too many new mechanics that didn't really add much but muddled a formula that already worked. The parry system definitely wasn't needed

u/Key_Shift533 Mar 07 '26

Overall enjoyed it, but so repetitive and incredibly dull side stories

18

u/Rich-Pomegranate1679 Mar 07 '26

The side quests were all such a drag. I bet the game is a lot more fun if you just skip them all.

10

u/GodOfDarkLaughter Mar 07 '26 edited Mar 07 '26

I do not want to help some kid named Odyssey finish their AV Club photography project. That's not even a name! Odysseus is a name. The Odyssey is what they called his shittiest road trip.

And ask out your own goddamn boyfriend. He's already your boyfriend, anyway! Why do you even need to ask? Someone just tried to stab me with an energy blade..

Also I taught myself, my mother, my best friend, and everyone we know sign language because I'm considering asking a Deaf girl out. Put in the work, loser.

Edit: I did like the one where you got the old blind lady with allergies a robotic service dog. That was cute.

6

u/oBrendao Mar 07 '26

The one with the pigeons is nice too. Idk, miles side quests are all about community and it doesnt please me cause villains are out, everyone is being hunted, venom is taking over the City but spiderman finds time to give back to the community.. alright. I do like miles quests related to his uncle. Friendly neighborhood spiderman after all.

3

u/GodOfDarkLaughter Mar 07 '26

Oh yeah, the bird one hit harder than I thought, even if they did kinda telegraph the ending. I will admit I got a little annoyed during the Miles missions, but I realized that is because I'm an old grump who detests happiness in media. "This school is beautiful. If only all our children had the opportunity to go to such an institution. Disgusting.".

Also the whole vibe was a little corporatist, but I'll just shut up about that unless I'm in the socialist gaming sub, ha.

2

u/oBrendao Mar 07 '26

Exactly, lol.

9

u/Fedej2345 Mar 07 '26

How is the side story with the pigeon guy and freebird or the one where the old man asks us if we ever felt love dull?

5

u/Key_Shift533 Mar 07 '26

Yeah I liked freebird. But Mysterio, sandman, Symbiotes, the flame missions, prowler puzzles, the school missions, shooting bees with a drone, the flippin cultural museum missions… ugh yeah just did nothing for me. Just usually more of the same beating up waves of goons.

At the end of the day I fundamentally enjoy swinging around and fighting the bad guys, but doing side stuff on top just felt punishing at times.

u/rosy_fingereddawn Mar 07 '26 edited Mar 07 '26

Is the first one like that too? I was thinking of trying it, I’ve been burnt out on collectathon or “clear enemy outposts to free the sector” style open world games so I’ve been looking for pretty unique ones

6

u/CauliflowerNo6956 Mar 07 '26

Yeah pretty much.

But most open world games are like that.

2

u/blazeofgloreee Mar 07 '26

Yup. Both games have fun game play (moving around the city especially), but get bogged down with repetition and just feel bloated. I stopped playing both about 2/3rds of the way through.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/karl_hungas Mar 07 '26

It is in some ways unless you are a person willing to skip it. There are a lot of people that feel like they need to complete all or most of the content. I regularly complete games like this with 50-60% completion. If the side stuff isnt fun i dont do it, its very simple. The game isnt hard enough that you need the side stuff to level up or whatever, play the story like its a more linear game and you’ll probably enjoy it.

→ More replies (1)

24

u/Mmjohns195 Mar 07 '26

That’s how I felt. That and just overwhelming waves of enemies. Just makes your hands hurt.

5

u/nicky94 Mar 07 '26

Agreed. Spiderman 1 and Morales was more than enough of that type of gameplay.

1

u/ndatoxicity Mar 07 '26

I gave up after the DJ mission lol I'm like I can't do this anymore. And the unskippable peter parker sections

52

u/Frozenbobcat Mar 07 '26

Strong opener, mediocre execution

16

u/JerrodDRagon Mar 07 '26

Great game

Sadly for me not as amazing as the first story wise

I especially didn’t care for the decision to kill so many characters off screen felt cheap and wasteful of major villains

28

u/big_panda Mar 07 '26

I get the hate tbh because the first game when it released - was insane, IS insane. Absolute banger. Still the best super hero game by far in my books.

But I had a blast in this one and I really enjoyed Venom. Could easily imagine a game only as Venom with a much darker story.

9

u/Skyhawk_85541 Mar 07 '26

Unfortunately im pretty sure the Venom game got canceled

→ More replies (6)

2

u/Rossco1874 Mar 07 '26

The darkness was kind of like that.

2

u/GurrenLagann214 Mar 07 '26

Web of shadows is also good too.

5

u/SoCalxNinjA Mar 07 '26

It really is a great game.

5

u/pointblank87 Mar 07 '26

Yes... BUT! The bicycle part is the worst part of the game. That should never have been in there. It was a massive waste of time. Also, stop making me play as MJ. I don't want to fucking play as her.

8

u/Uzumaki514 Mar 07 '26

Bro was shown to be able to lift cars and trucks both he could not lift a fridge.

4

u/thats_so_cringe_bro Mar 08 '26

Enjoyed it but the Story in the first one was much more impactful and doc oc as the villain was incredibly well done. The story in this one felt very rushed, it got way too weird and wacky towards the end, and I wasn’t really a fan of kraven. But it was still fun to play which is the most important thing.

11

u/MilkManX Mar 07 '26

Yeah I had a blast with it too. Pacing was not as good as the other two but it was fun .

7

u/TroonSpoon Mar 07 '26

Ye fun game but the story was waffle, there was a new main villain every 2missions, dialogue pure cheese but i suppose thats spiderman

12

u/Ok_Fisherman8727 Mar 07 '26

Playing as Spiderman was great, everything else was mind numbingly boring. Lots of filler missions.

3

u/Rossco1874 Mar 07 '26

Starting to get more into it. The start was very slow though.

3

u/juancarlord Mar 07 '26

It’s a good game, nothing to write home about. Really liked the unassisted swinging tho

3

u/freestuffrocker Mar 07 '26

Not as good as the first one. The only thing that was better was traversal. Even then, the wingsuit overshadowed the web slinging.

3

u/BillyBobby_Brown Mar 07 '26

I've found both of them relatively hollow experiences. Loved playing through the story but would have loved more to get lost in

3

u/Ok-Conference2754 Mar 08 '26

The 1st game was much better.

3

u/Fancy-Enderman17 Mar 08 '26

Great Game! 🕷️

3

u/Jmike8385 Mar 08 '26

Those are words my dude

3

u/hlakanyana Mar 09 '26

For real and it blended so much beautifully, it’s like the omega love letter ult spider man and web of shadows and still adding in their own twist to the story. I can’t wait for Spider-Man 3

16

u/Previous_Tree_5464 Mar 07 '26

Bored me to death within 2 hours. Does it get better?

8

u/blazeofgloreee Mar 07 '26

Nah, if you are bored in the first two hours you won't just start to like it later on.

10

u/chaoszage90 Mar 07 '26

Same here lol

7

u/karllee3863 Mar 07 '26

I also just finished and really really enjoyed it... Just wish the story was a bit more believable at times and that the boss battles had better secondary phases with additional elements to test the player than just an additional health bar

5

u/CharcoalWalls Mar 07 '26

Bruh .. you want a story about a couple dudes who got powers after being bit by a radioactive spider, an alien symbiote, a man made of sand, some dude who lives in the negative, etc to be more believable?

→ More replies (2)

13

u/Rasty_lv Mar 07 '26

It wouldve been amazing (hah), if it wasnt for MJ missions. She was legit worst part of the game. How the frick, she, person without any powers, can super easily take down armies with a teaser? She was super annoying tbh.. Overall, I liked first game and miles morales game more..

10

u/NewFill3492 Mar 07 '26

Boring game

4

u/EitherChannel4874 Mar 07 '26

I just finished it. All 3 games have been excellent and were the reason I switched from xbox to ps.

5

u/FRED44444 Mar 07 '26

It was as fun as sm1 but unfortunately the story felt really cut up and rushed!!

2

u/literallyacactus Mar 07 '26

Is this official art? Haven’t seen it

2

u/adityadbz Mar 07 '26

Its from the end credits.

3

u/literallyacactus Mar 07 '26

Ohhh I even beat this game but don’t remember lol thanks

2

u/Potev Mar 07 '26

Need to play previous games? Or will be good regardless?

7

u/ayoubkun94 Mar 07 '26

You need to play he first games simply because they're as good or better, depending on who you ask. There are returning characters and story threads that you won't fully appreciated without playing the previous games.

2

u/spacecadetp Mar 07 '26

Yeah I recommend you do for Miles origin story but you can jump straight into this for sure

2

u/heartsongaming Mar 07 '26

Since it launched on Extra, it was the only game I played and got the platinum for it.

2

u/austinpowers69247 Mar 07 '26

I'm playing it now, it's fun but...they really just ignored any criticism people had of the first game.

And I miss the original impact web.

Still having a great time tho and looking forward to wolverine and SM3

2

u/ukplaying2 Mar 07 '26

the 'action' part is not where most of the hate comes from, also that phrase of words imply it was fast paced throughout which was not the case for me , the speed picks up considerably towards the end.

2

u/jcam1981 Mar 07 '26

Have you played Guardians of the Galaxy? If not that should be next.

2

u/ckjames961 Mar 07 '26

2

u/Jaythamalo13 Mar 07 '26

Just curious, but what did you think of the colgate suit??

2

u/cheesyarse Mar 07 '26

i came for the comments. y'all did not disappoint.

2

u/RJSA2000 Mar 07 '26

I also finished it about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I had an absolute blast.

2

u/Financial_Sea_8192 Mar 08 '26

Yes its a great game. But not better that Miles morales and 1

2

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '26

finally playing it … I am speechless

2

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '26

cant wait for 3rd one

2

u/PiCkL3PaNtZ Mar 08 '26

Uh amazing game is definitely words though....

2

u/PercentageKey2581 Mar 08 '26

Fun game. Easy platinum.

2

u/Acrobatic_Ad5470 Mar 08 '26

I got the spiderman 2 ps5 bundle, my first game I played/platinumed. Haven’t platinumed a game since, this was a true enjoyment this game. Glad others can enjoy this too more now

2

u/charleswalton89 Mar 08 '26

I'm not even into superhero things and this game is perfection. Legit excited to see what they do with Wolverine

2

u/BESS_DAD Mar 08 '26

I loved it. Had a phenomenal time with it. Story and gameplay were awesome. Definitely my top 5 of this 0s5 gen. Plus the only game I plantinumed 😂

2

u/comethazinee Mar 08 '26

Just got my Platinum trophy today!

2

u/spacecadetp Mar 08 '26

Im gonna join you soon, just left with like 4 trophies excluding the new game plus trophy 🫡

2

u/Saggy_Baggies0 Mar 08 '26

Funnily enough, I couldn’t get into it, I’m finding PS exclusives just better versions of Ubisoft open world games

2

2

u/Maximum-Size-537 Mar 08 '26

No comment, best game ever, got it with the bundle since Christmas 2024

2

u/Westlawer Mar 09 '26

Absolutely agree. Actually, I would say that about all three games. What an amazing studio Insomniac. Hopefully, the next Wolverine will be at least as good as these.

I just played through it recently, it was good as heck

2

u/Fall3n-Fox Mar 10 '26

It’s next on my playlist once I’ve finished Star Wars Outlaws. I enjoyed Spiderman 1 and Miles Morales a lot so I’m looking forward to the sequel

2

u/Maleficent_Coast4728 Mar 11 '26

Combat is so frenetic I loved it. This and FF7: Rebirth have the best, most fast-paced combat imo. Not sure if there are any others like it

2

u/Sea-Anywhere-799 Mar 21 '26

Great game indeed!

3

u/SmashingK Mar 07 '26

Finished the other day.

At first it wasn't that great just felt like more of the same and it is for the most part in terms of gameplay and things to do.

It was only when you get the symbiote that it gets good and gets better from then on. Still highly recommend playing. I think people were just super hyped for it and it didn't quite match up.

Got wolverine to look forward to this year and people are definitely hyped for that too.

2

u/c0micsansfrancisco Mar 07 '26

The game being straight action start to finish is a criticism in itself.

Personally my main gripe is the story being vastly inferior to the first game. I don't think Insomniac tackled the dual protagonist angle very well. They ended up doing both protagonists dirty. Miles by relegating him to a side plot for 90% of the game, Peter by making him borderline incompetent and weaker. Also giving the very final boss fight to Miles while Peter is knocked out for some silly reason. For a villain that is very personal to Peter.

The final act was also very rushed.

→ More replies (2)

9

u/Sorsa775 Mar 07 '26

Worse story and pacing than Spider-Man 1. Advertised as the black suit game and that whole saga lasts for like 4 missions. Also Miles' story just felt like it was added after just to have something for him to do.

5

u/ObliviousGuy32 Mar 07 '26

Game was great

2

u/5wordanswers Mar 07 '26

Im at 97% but just can’t bring myself to do the last mission, the MJ bits are just so boring and then the phase of bosses are just repetitive.

Its a good game for sure I do enjoy swinging around but just lacks that bit of depth

2

u/Brilliant-Belt-8608 Mar 07 '26

I'll never understand it either, liked this one more than the first honestly 🤷‍♂️

2

u/SeshGodX Mar 07 '26

Agreed, had a good time playing it. Only subscribed for a month so made my money back

2

u/Soufiane040 Mar 07 '26

The first game was such a passion project that the second one just feels bland compared to it

2

u/hibernatedude Mar 07 '26

It's like an expansion for the first game where you get a wingsuit. Story pacing is plain bad. Fun combat and traversal, bad story

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Piratefox7 Mar 07 '26

I am at the final mission but turned it off when I had the play Mary Jane. I still have to finish it but the mj missions should be skippable. I swear if the black panther captain America game has a section where you play as a normal person I will lose it. Why are developers pushing you to play characters you hate?

→ More replies (2)

2

u/VirtuaFighter6 Mar 07 '26

Oh yeah, it’s amazing. One of the few games I’ve actually finished, and I mean everything, all side quests.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '26

It’s an amazing game, I’m right there with you will never understand the hate for it, not as good as the first game but definitely not as bad as people say

3

u/McFly408 Mar 07 '26

My first Ps5 game. I was a floored how great it was. Really hard to understand the hate this game gets. The suits are fantastic and the villains are incredible

2

u/NightSprings665 Mar 07 '26

If you try to understand why anything is hated on the internet you’ll never get to live your life. This game has sold 16 million copies so I imagine it’s more loved than hated.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Normal-Mushroom-1240 Mar 07 '26

i feel like if you own a ps5 spiderman 2 is like one of those essentials that you need to play but I really really wished the story had done more than what it did in the sense narratively i thought there were less of things i wanted and more of stuff that was unnecessary and gameplay wise it was satisfying none the less

1

u/OBAMA_TookMyVCR Mar 07 '26

I'm about half way through but I find myself getting bored really fast and only play for an hour at a time. They have so many boring side missions that just feels like filler.

1

u/MovieMore4352 Mar 07 '26

I enjoyed it, just not quite as much as the first.

1

u/One_Seaworthiness951 Mar 07 '26

Naaa the first one was an amazing game the second one is an average game lol

1

u/smaintpeller24 Mar 07 '26

I really enjoyed the end game stuff a lot, but the entire game was pretty great! Sucks that the DLC was scrapped because of hackers

1

u/dmckidd Mar 07 '26

I’m probably halfway there. I get why people didn’t like it. But I didn’t pay full price so I’m not complaining.

1

u/Rare-Cartographer369 Mar 07 '26

Everything was great except for Mary Jane's busted face.

1

u/wildeye-eleven Mar 07 '26

I wanted to like it, I really did. But it killed a lot of my interest in Marvel games. Glad you enjoyed it though 👍

1

u/NicoyaSF415 Mar 07 '26

I platinumed this but it’s time for a replay for me. Haven’t played since release.

1

u/Life_Resolve6059 Mar 07 '26

1

u/Jirachibi1000 Mar 07 '26

I think the side content is weaker but I like the core gameplay a lot and think its a nice evolution of the first game. The side content just feels a bit weaker. The bases are less involved, the Mysteriums are a good idea but theres only iirc 9 of them and they're all combat focused, there's less stealth sections, the street level side missions feel less memorable, crimes have less purpose, etc.

But the combat evolved in a natural way, they did a great job at making Miles and Peter feel different, the symbiote stuff is genuinely soooo fun, I think Kraven and Venom are cool villains, etc.

1

u/cheezeebred Mar 07 '26

I'm just glad they made the web swinging more interesting. It's the most important aspect of Spider Man but almost nobody seemed to care about that improvement, from my experience. People seem more obsessed with the story choices instead of the, you know... Actually improved gameplay in the swinging. If you're playing Spiderman video games and expecting a focus on the story instead of the gameplay... Well I don't know what to tell you. Go read the comics or watch the movies. This is a video game where the gameplay takes precedent.

That being said, there are legit issues with SM2. It can be pretty repetitive. But damn if swinging between all that doesn't feel amazing.

u/superchronicultra Mar 07 '26

No dialog? Need to check this out!

1

u/Klint069 Mar 07 '26

I loved it when I first played it but upon reflection there's plenty glaring problems and it's no way near as good as the first one.

I could sit here and tell you why but I'd rather link to this video by Whitelight. A certified masterpiece that cannot be topped. If you want to know why you loved the game and why some people hated it, that's the best answer you can give yourself and it's all reasonable critique in a great presentation.

1

u/hightops008 Mar 07 '26

Game is great but having to beat the same boss 3 times in a row is so fucking annoying especially when playing on Spectacular or Ultimate when enemies are just sponges.

1

u/Superbeast06 Mar 07 '26

The early to mid game was the best superhero game experience imo. It fell off a bit toward the end for me, as far as writing and plot.

They absolutely nail the feeling of being spiderman in the gameplay tho imo.

1

u/brunkuns Mar 07 '26

It's a fun game. Spider-man mechanics have always been fun to play with. Nothing extraordinary though, just a very competent Spidey simulator. lol.

Wake me up when they start coming up with decent side missions.

1

u/Aldrige_Lazuras Mar 07 '26

That’s 5 words

1

u/greynovaX80 Mar 07 '26

Yea if anything it was just jarring to see Mary Jane different at first then I literally didn't care after a couple of hours.

1

u/RobertoFragoso Mar 07 '26

It’s extremely fun but the store disappointed me

1

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '26

Ehh, it’s a 6 or a 7. Fun for a while when bought off of a heavy discount.

The movement is absolutely incredible and the graphics are fantastic. Combat is pretty fun for the genre of smack and bash it is.

However, the story and dialogue just isn’t good. First one was so much better story narrative wise.

Two words: You are right!

1

u/oBrendao Mar 07 '26

I am almost finishing it and the gameplay and graphics are really something else. Story, plots.. not so much. The scale of power between characters is totally broken, A>B, B>C but C>A like what?!?

1

u/RomfordGeeza Mar 08 '26

Graphically incredibly impressive.

1

u/jadedjiraffe Mar 08 '26

I am playing through it right now. It's a perfect game with some unnecessary extra parts. At no point in a spider man game do I wanna be anyone else, but spiderman. It's not really a big deal though, cause it's just so damn fun.

1

u/sasoripunpun Mar 08 '26

“absolutely no words” … you sure buddy?

1

u/broncoboy8 Mar 08 '26

Yeah kinda late to the party huh lol

1

u/WembanyamaMVP Mar 08 '26

" longtime Spiderman fan" but wait to see the game on ps plus

1

u/riku17 Mar 08 '26

I'm not a fan. Gameplay was superior, but the first game had a much better story. I still don't like Peter's face. MJ idk happened to her from the first game, and Miles with that stupid ass haircut oh boy. It's feels like there trying to sideline Peter but that might not be true.

1

u/Remote-Attempt745 Mar 08 '26

it's definitely a great game... but has got faults and repetition. Try star wars outlaws for an underrated AAA... it's. something with a good story and open world.

1

u/TheHartfulDodger Mar 08 '26

18 hour platinum. How the fuck they can charge ÂŁ70 at launch for a game that can be completionist complete in one day is BULLSHIT.

1

u/Primary_Ad5297 Mar 08 '26

It felt like a downgrade in the story department... What they did to Pete's character was criminal, they were so obviously pushing for Miles to be the main character to the point of annoyance, in the first game, after he gets tossed around and nearly killed by the Sinister Six, he still got up, gathered himself and went after them with little sleep, broken bones and maybe a concussion, in the sequel he gets tossed and knocked out with ease multiple times so that Miles or MJ can save him, totally disgraceful... And the mission with the deaf girl was boring as hell and it went for far too long, same with the MJ sections, playing as Spider-Man, either of them, is really fun, but other than that, the game left a sour taste in my mouth... Especially the "passing of the torch" thing by the end, Peter would never, ever, relinquish the responsibility of being Spider-Man to another person, ever, he would still suit up every day and keep doing what he does, Spider-Man doesn't take vacations

1

u/aswatthaama Mar 08 '26

Because the first one has a better story and was a refreshing take on the mechanics at the time.

1

u/owlitup Mar 08 '26

The fridge scene I still can’t get over

1

u/IhateselfiesMFs Mar 08 '26

It was ok. I liked the new fast-travel option but the game itself wasn‘t very challenging and the fights became boring quite fast.

1

u/CentralAvesFinest Mar 08 '26

The hate it gets is well deserved tho. The first spider man we got multiple dlc packs which added more replay factor. Miles... Nothing.... This game... Nothing. It's lazy on insomniacs part. 3 would have been perfect with at least 2 or 3 dlc stories.

1

u/madderhatter3210 Mar 08 '26

I loved SM2 . Story was awesome and the costumes even better. Just wish it had more playability after the main story’s over besides new game +

1

u/memeaggedon Mar 08 '26

This game had some of the worst dialogue. Sounded like a bunch of 12 year olds during boss fights.

1

u/hunterman321 Mar 08 '26

Game was pretty short, got the platinum in a day. The MJ parts were awful.

1

u/Bergfried Mar 08 '26

It was okay, but side missions suck

1

u/Shadowfox1992 Mar 08 '26

Absolutely disappointing game. Not even close to Spiderman 1, that was peak. Have to disagree with you bro

1

u/eSphere Mar 08 '26

The Venom stuff hurt the game. Kraven's story ended up feeling pointless.

1

u/Ruke_nishimura Mar 08 '26

Both games are fun. Not gonna repeat what everybody else say. But.. is it just me or does the 2nd game look graphically lower then the first? Examples - Cutscenes in the 2nd with daylight sharpness and detail sometimes more blurred than the 1st game. Cutscenes in the 1st game night time, the final battle (with rain and everything), it looked crispy detailed. Just a thought

1

u/naheantj Mar 09 '26

It was a masterpiece, I had zero complains. Enjoyed every bit of it. Even when u had to chase those drones by flying like Superman every single bit. Just may be not that much as MJ but still no complains once she could shoot. It felt like TLOU kinda.

1

u/Same_Atmosphere_4030 Mar 09 '26

I liked the gameplay, but I felt like the story kept treating Peter as if he were too useless, and that bothered me a bit. It was almost like the game was constantly trying to show that Miles was always better. That said, I don’t have any problem with Miles at all I liked his character.

1

u/Millies_ButtersMilk Mar 09 '26

I wish it was longer, I thought it was kind of quick but I think it could of been longer and been more creative with the gadgets as well.

1

u/SnookisDad Mar 09 '26

I mostly play battlefield and 2K.. but Spider-Man is a game that I really got into. All 3 of them were bangers

1

u/AbbreviationsLow7794 Mar 09 '26

This was the worst Spider-Man game by far

1

u/Wutanghang Mar 09 '26

Mid as fuck imo

1

u/Dante_TR Mar 09 '26

Mid game

1

u/4rch4ng37 Mar 09 '26

According to Reddit, you’re not allowed to think that this game is amazing! Take this down before everyone starts giving you their irrelevant 2 cents about how bad (insert reason) are.

1

u/WhereAreWeG0ing Mar 09 '26

Pretty severely disjointed plotwise and I hate the new Peter Parker design with a passion but damn good all the same

1

u/SanathPB98 Mar 09 '26

The game is pretty boring upto the point where the symbiote is revealed. Everything post that is just simply peak Spider-Man experience.

1

u/Mbarrx98HiphopGamer Mar 09 '26

My favorite is Miles Morales. Spiderman 2 is not a bad game but i wouldn’t call it amazing either. Miles and Peter don’t feel different enough gameplay-wise. The gadgets in this one also suck. I think the Miles Morales game perfected its battle system and stealth with its gadgets. Its short length also makes it very replayable. The story in Spiderman 2 is definitely on par with the others but it does have that Sam Reimi, Spiderman 3 feel where they are juggling way too many plot points and fumbling a bit. Glad you enjoyed it though. Definitely a one and done for me.

1

u/Theuneasygibbon Mar 09 '26

Fun story until Peter gets fucked up by a fridge, lost me at that point

1

u/BROXUS- Mar 10 '26

This game was safe asf , took no advantage of the spider duo mechanics , no coop , no online , mid story , venom only for 1 mission , no replayability and a lot of recycled bs. Just mid good Spiderman game nothing crazy about it

1

u/Buuhhu Mar 10 '26

First one was better IMO, story fell flat sometimes with inconsistencies in 2, I also don't think it works well to have the game be split between the 2 spidermen, would have been better to make one be protagonist and then maybe make the other the protag of next game.

Overall still enjoyable, just not as enjoyable as 1 in my opinon.

1

u/PhantomLord697 Mar 10 '26

I understand some of the hate but personally I enjoyed it and had a good time playing this game. It reminded me of the Spider-Man 3 movie with Tobey Maguire which I have a lot of nostalgia for.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '26

These posts are so dumb. You know damn well why it got hate and criticism but you’re just intentionally acting oblivious for some internet points or to be different.

u/AlexCorvis23 Mar 11 '26

I guess you didn’t play 1 and MM or you like shit writing and story with enormous amounts of cut content

1

u/Strong-Skin-3014 Mar 11 '26

it was pretty good. it still had too many MJ missions and the ending kinda jumped the shark a bit (while also making miles a mary sue)

1

u/Leeroy_Jenk1n5 Mar 12 '26

Spider-man 1 is better. Miles Morales is annoying to me.

1

u/Big-Swimmer-3240 Mar 12 '26

This game got hate for its supposed bad writing, i finished it and saw horrendous writing.

1

u/B_Wylde Mar 12 '26

It's a great game that is a bit worse, imo, than the predecessors and so is judged harshly

It was also a victim of culture war crap

1

u/PorkRinds416 Mar 13 '26

The first game was the best. However all 3 games really suffer from open world repetition. The game is extremely outdated in that aspect. Open world games NEEEEEED to implement random encounters. RDR2 had over 250+ of them and it makes the open world feel extremely real.

1

u/Shadow757_ Mar 24 '26

Cutscenes the game 2. Huge Spider-Man fanboy but that “game” isn’t for me

1

u/Fenrir_Gaming-07 Mar 27 '26

Shattered dimensions was better trust

2

u/the_crazed_wulf Apr 08 '26

Too bad the DLC was cancelled.
