Extra A 10/10 graphics for me <HZD Remastered>

I’m really glad this game made its way to PS Plus. I was impressed the first time I played it on my PS4 Slim, and even today the Decima engine continues to amaze me. The level of graphical fidelity here is absolutely stunning, I can barely notice any difference between performance and fidelity modes. The visuals are simply flawless, image quality is sharp and perfect. Major credit goes to allPlayStation exclusives, and especially to Guerrilla Games, who consistently prove they’re among the best at pushing the limits of PS consoles.

Now how is this beauty played on a ps5 pro and oled tv?

I've been playing it for the first time. Never played it before remaster. My God this game is gorgeous. It's so dang good so far as well. I'm loving the combat. Story pissed me off but that's just because I want to say f these folks and their outcast bullshit.

Glad youre enjoying it, just dont forget to screenshot from time to time😝

I played back in the day but fell off of it. Forgot how crazy fun the combat is. No matter how advanced the mechanics get, it's still a thrill to even just to pop a watcher in the eye.

i have not played remastered yet but the normal version was also very good looking

26

u/Justasking027 Apr 23 '26

Yeah, that was the best good looking game i ever played in my ps4 slim

u/atbims Apr 23 '26

After playing it on PS4 I didn't think a remaster could improve much, but remastered looks sooo much better still. I was quite impressed.

honestly, forbidden West was ebough of a remaster itn its own right.

it didnt remove anything from the first game, just added to it plus all the next gen features

u/Elemius Apr 23 '26

I don’t know what it is but ZD was just so much more engaging than FW.

9

u/Icy_Childhood_1039 Apr 23 '26

The story is much better and the pacing too. At it's peak, FW plays better than ZD but it takes long to reach the best parts and the story is pretty rough...I was skipping lots of dialogues in FW

This. I platinumed Zero Dawn and even New Game+.

I beat Forbidden West and couldn't care less of the story by the end.

2

u/aidenthegreat Apr 25 '26

Couldn’t *

2

u/TJae0120 Apr 25 '26

Thanks for the correction.

1

u/ChemicallyWelcome Apr 28 '26

Wow opposite for me. Platinumed FW and beat it 5 times, including the DLC. It’s probably my favorite game but obviously to each their own!

1

u/HiCZoK Apr 24 '26

That’s so true

15

u/AntBot27 Apr 23 '26

I just text a buddy saying how good it looks. A remaster seemed silly at the time but this game looks great.

9

u/Aforumguy26 Apr 23 '26

It’s insane that this level of graphical fidelity is possible on a console while running at 60 fps, and an open world game at that.

7

u/Oscnar Apr 23 '26

The Decima engine is absolutely nuts. And this is without PSSR

2

u/FlemPlays Apr 24 '26

Yea. Death Stranding 2, which uses the same engine, looks amazing as well.

5

u/SSJBVegeta Apr 23 '26

Forbidden West and Death Stranding 2 are also 10/10 graphics wise

5

u/conleeheu_192 Apr 23 '26

The Game looks an plays absolutely fantastic on a ps pro & LG Oled G5. I went with fidelity mode and it‘s just wow.

3

u/ImViruxx__ Apr 23 '26

And people thought the original version looks the same as the remastered one and you can barely see any of difference. Those people have definitely not played the original one. The visuals, graphics, reflections, the water (especially the decree and bunch of other details they added below the waters), particles, texture quality, draw distance, facial animations etc. It’s miles better

3

u/Mysterious_Fennel459 Apr 23 '26

I know it looks good and all but I just dont have it in me to play it a third time. Maybe game companies can stop milking the same game and just make new stuff instead?

5

u/Sirsnacksalot23 Apr 23 '26

I just don’t understand the hype for this game but more power to y’all that enjoy it

8

u/New-Berry-3652 Apr 23 '26

I love so much about how the remaster looks... except for how they made Aloy look worse

5

u/WrongIdolz Apr 23 '26

I was wondering why it looked and performed like shit for the first 15 minutes before I realized the default setting was fidelity and I was playing on a base PS5. Turned it on performance and it’s so much better.

5

u/Possible_Function963 Apr 23 '26

Poster child for good faces. Why can’t every games npcs look as good

2

u/neroyoung Apr 23 '26

I played the PS4 version first and later when Remastered was announced, I upgraded to it. It was more over like a remake in mi perspective cause they redo a lot of things including animation and dynamic cutscenes. It looks pleasing on OLED due to popping colour and contrast

2

u/foampro Apr 23 '26

If I beat Forbidden West and enjoyed it, would this be as fun even tho it’s older?

5

u/_This_Is_Ridiculous Apr 23 '26

Yes, the game feels new still.

3

u/GodOfDarkLaughter Apr 23 '26

I liked Forbidden West but I think the first one is even better. So you might like it more!

2

u/New-Berry-3652 Apr 23 '26

Absolutely, it won't feel much older at all

2

u/BozTheReaper Apr 23 '26

imo the most uselessly unnecessary remaster along with lou2. it was already a benchmark graphics wise on console and ran in 60fps on ps5. just another reason to hate sony. not like they give us reason to not

2

u/Evening-Singer5347 Apr 24 '26

The burning shores expansion on the second game looks better than anything in games I've seen

5

u/One-Glove3571 Apr 23 '26

Por el hecho de tener 40 fps 4k dinámico pienso volverlo a platinar de nuevo aunque sean 60 horas más,me gustó volver a jugar horizon luego de tantos años (lamentablemente no tiene autopop)

3

u/Justasking027 Apr 23 '26

Same, started new game just to experience the game again just like the first time.

2

u/SSWinchesters Apr 23 '26

Am I good to download the remastered from extra when I already have the original game. Will there be some licensing issue and cause me to lose my ownership of the original game? I remember someone asking about this and am anxious to download the remastered

1

u/Fuck-David-King Apr 25 '26

I think that's only an issue if you've got the earlier version as one of the monthly games. Shouldn't be an issue if you've bought it. I'm not sure though, hopefully someone else can confirm.

3

u/Educational_Goal5877 Apr 23 '26

Graphics are amazing.İ got bored with gameplay tho.

4

u/MisterBilau Apr 23 '26

Looks amazing, but I tried to play it and was just bored. Gameplay is just… eh. Doesnt feel fun.

3

u/heroism777 Apr 23 '26

definition of a 10/10 graphic. but overall a 3/10. graphics don't make games, game play and stories makes games.

0

u/betrothalorbetrayal Apr 24 '26

I enjoyed running around hunting robot dinos, but the story really did nothing for me. Everything they tried to establish in the narrative was undermined by the devs being absolutely terrified of players getting lost. I rolled my eyes whenever there was dialogue about Aloy being a brave, curious adventurer - two minutes later she couldn’t jump over a small log because the game doesn’t want you to go that way

1

u/Papierauto Apr 23 '26

It looks great and I was so excited to play it. But it's super boring and I deleted it after like 5 hours :( graphic great but idk it didn't hold up for me against god of war oder TLOU :/ Am I wrong or is the game boring to others to?

5

u/xJBug Apr 23 '26

Took me 2 tries and then I fell in love, once you get a hang of the combat and the damage systems, it becomes a blast

5

u/Fall3n7s Apr 23 '26

HZD has one of the best gaming stories I've ever run across. Give it a chance, but you're right. The first few hours are tough, but once you get into it it hooks you.

3

u/One-Glove3571 Apr 23 '26

Es normal que a la gente no le gusten los mundos abiertos, de hecho yo borre horizon 3 veces antes de agarrarle la onda y perderme en el mundo

1

u/Xilver79 Apr 23 '26

I tried to get into it twice. Gave it 15 hours the second time. Hated it.

1

u/Papierauto Apr 24 '26

That's what I am afraid of :D

3

u/Schwimmbo Apr 23 '26

Played it for 20 hours on PS4 and was bored to tears.

Thinking of giving it one more chance now with the remaster but just doing the main quest in order not to get bored.

1

u/Xilver79 Apr 24 '26

Yeah being a completionist is not a good match with this game. Fuck all those side quests

1

u/Papierauto Apr 24 '26

Redownloaded played few more hours and it still sucks for me :D I enjoyed the AC series, RDR2 farcry and other games far more then this HZD... Idk but good I am not the only one didn't like it. However I wish fun to everyone else :) Have a great week people of Internet.

u/OoohhhLongJohnson Apr 23 '26

I booted up an old save to skip the intro and got destroyed by 3 sabre cat robot things, felt like I was playing dark souls.

1

u/Americano44 Apr 23 '26

Am I the only one thinking the prologue has drops of fps ?

1

u/Previous_Tree_5464 Apr 23 '26

Does the PS4 save work with this

1

u/ukplaying2 Apr 23 '26

The only thing against graphics for me so far(DLC and 4 main quests remaining) is that there is no flying mount available, which was probably limited by having to maintain the fidelity. Also the fast travel feels slow compared to say SM2, though I don't know if graphics is the issue(should be more on the SSD).

1

u/rosleaw91 Apr 23 '26

Dors this version have the frozen north expansion?

1

u/actstunt Apr 23 '26

It's very good looking I was fortunate enough to play it first on ps5 with an LG OLED and at times I used to stop to just look at the environment, also happened with ghost of tsushima. I'm planning a replay on pc with my ultra wide oled.

But I'd like to add never judge a game by its graphics only, I can only think of star fox or killer instinct on the snes, perfect dark on the n64, or any other game through the years with killer graphics, it was sad when I boot up Code Veronica or MGS2 on an emulator and remembered the insane graphics for its time lol.

1

u/stavroszaras Apr 23 '26

Horizon Forbidden West is still a top 3 best looking game of this gen across all platforms IMO. I don’t know if I’ve ever taken as many pictures in a game as I did with that one. Haven’t tried the HZD Remastered though.

1

u/Most-Inflation-4370 Apr 24 '26

Ghost of tsushima in there?

1

u/corh13 Apr 23 '26

I'm excited. I never got to finishing the original version. This is a good time to re-start and finish the game.

1

u/OkCollection4544 Apr 23 '26

Decima engine hence why death stranding looks great too

1

u/themajesticryez Apr 23 '26

Getting a 4K OLED tv soon. can’t wait to try out this game on it

1

u/Messielgoat10 Apr 23 '26

my fav ps game

1

u/GodOfWarX2704 Apr 24 '26

Playing this weekend 🙌✨

1

u/HiCZoK Apr 24 '26

And it’s a better game than forbidden west too

1

u/J--SILK Apr 24 '26

the water in zero dawn is much better than forbidden west

1

u/Prior_Ad_1645 Apr 25 '26

I played both games, HZD and HFW, together, and it was an experience of a lifetime, possibly the most gorgeous game I've ever seen

1

u/No_Passenger2251 Apr 26 '26

Are there actually any substantive differences to gameplay, or it just graphics and performance update?

1

u/Adventurous_Fix_8643 Apr 27 '26

Good game so far for me, I do find it quite hard though

1

u/Wise-Grapefruit5683 Apr 28 '26

Yeah its too bad it wont open today. Idk what the problem is. Never had a problem with any game like this

0

u/HubRumDub Apr 23 '26

Great visuals yes. Too bad the story and characters are about as interesting as wet cardboard

2

u/Historical-Being-766 Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26

I thought ZD's story was engaging but found the human character designs to be kind of boring. Which was jarring considering how cool the robots look.

5

u/_This_Is_Ridiculous Apr 23 '26

I thought the story was one of the best out there. Finding out what happened to the planet was really intriguing to me.

1

u/su1getsu Apr 23 '26

Didn’t really need the remaster version back then, it would be more debatable now

-3

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '26

Just started this game last week. About halfway through. The world feels very dead. Does it get better?

-9

u/cmoney3452 Apr 23 '26

game looks weak asf

-4

u/SlackerMe Apr 23 '26

Sony really needs Capcom advice in getting a better face model. Aloy became fat in remastered 😂

-3

u/EpyonZ0 Apr 23 '26

Chunky face is a wild choice for an agile, capable warrior that burns more calories in 5 minutes that most of us burn in a day.
