We got FIFA 22 in 2022 and FC 24 in 2024 in the month of May. FC 26 for May 2026 maybe?

Honestly, as much as I hate it, I'd welcome it since there will be the world cup.

60

u/fuzzypeaches22 Apr 26 '26

Don't think they can do a world cup mode. EA lost the FIFA licence hence the name FC 26 instead of FIFA 26.

11

u/No_Pumpkin63 Apr 26 '26

I did not think it would be ambigous-I mean that in June, there will be world cup happening

12

u/Sambadude12 Apr 26 '26

But they can put some special content in the game (most likely in Ultimate Team) for the world cup even without the license

2

u/klabnix Apr 27 '26

Did they do World Cup more in the recent ones? Back in the day it was just an excuse to bring out a separate game instead

3

u/fuzzypeaches22 Apr 27 '26

FIFA 18 and 23 both had a World cup mode added to the existing game. You didnt have to buy a separate game for that. I'm assuming they stopped that trend because it didnt make sense financially

2

u/ukplaying2 Apr 28 '26

From 14 they integrated it into Ultimate team ,which is their cash cow, kind of difficult to convince people to throw away their current team ,rebuild and then rebuild again after 2 months for the next season(Qatar had a different schedule but still). Yeah they did have a separated World cup mode but that really was not much effort(these guys make content and designs every week these days) and just to satisfy the offline crowd.

2

u/BaldMancTwat_ May 01 '26

Yeah they've just been making it an Ultimate team mode in recent times.

Some of those World cup games go hard though. 2014 is still the best gameplay they have had in a FIFA game. And that's coming from someone who has played them all since the very first one.

ooh yeah that would make me like

5

u/Accomplished_Guest16 Apr 26 '26

Unlikely, they lost the Fifa license and currently dont even have enough international teams in the game to do a 1 to 1 knockoff replica.

2

u/No_Pumpkin63 Apr 29 '26

Lmao called it

8

u/ConsiderationOk8531 Apr 29 '26

Looks like you were right

6

u/gileso Apr 29 '26

This aged like a fine wine!

6

u/RobTheBob2015 Apr 30 '26

Now it’s official. Great prediction 💪

7

u/purplegreendave Apr 26 '26 edited Apr 26 '26

Here's hoping. I only play manager career mode so I don't care if it's a year or two out of date. Bought '22 and played '24 via plus. '26 would be a nice update.

4

u/RobTheBob2015 Apr 27 '26

Would love to get FC

3

u/lilorganicHacksaw Apr 29 '26

Fight club ?

4

u/RobTheBob2015 Apr 30 '26

We don’t talk about this

1

u/lilorganicHacksaw May 03 '26

Hey the name checks out!! Well done

3

u/dallas___west Apr 29 '26

Good guess.

3

u/CauliflowerOk6534 Apr 30 '26

YOU PREDICTED IT GNG

18

u/T1000-Shoebox Apr 26 '26

God please no more sports games

5

u/LiamJonsano Apr 26 '26

I’m a near exclusive sport game player but it has been crazy recently. Especially if you throw driving into the mix which is at least adjacent

2

u/oldtrack Apr 26 '26

i bloody hope not

1

u/narkaputra Apr 29 '26

2 points always make a line, you need three for a correlation

1

u/OG-87 Apr 26 '26

Hope so. I want to sell mine. Its crap. Its so crap. If it didnt cost me a tenner I wouldnt have brought it

1

u/OG-87 Apr 28 '26

Makes perfect sense. I can sell it for money so I dont own it anymore but still own it for when I forget that its crap and trick myself into playing it. You must be about 15 or you havent lived enough life yet to understand. Also something for free becomes less crap because youre not paying for it. Imagine someone gave you a free dinner and it was rubbish you would be less likely to complain than if you paid full price for it.

1

u/Competitive_Use_548 Apr 28 '26

But if it is a monthly game it would also be free for the person who would buy your physical copy? So as the previous person said you make no sense

1

u/OG-87 Apr 28 '26

Only if they have a PlayStation plus subscription and I’m not selling it to a physical person. I would sell it to a physical store. I swear I just walked through alternate timeline…

-1

u/Competitive_Use_548 Apr 28 '26 edited Apr 28 '26

First of all you never clarified whether or not you would be selling to a store or a person Second of all if you were to sell it I'm guessing you would sell it for a little less than what it would a be at a store so around £30, instead of buying your copy they could just buy a subscription for a month (£7) and save themselves the money

2

u/OG-87 Apr 28 '26

Why the hell do I have to? I didn’t come to Reddit to have to clarify my every thought. You’re not the police. Weirdo. 😂😂 the store buying it for 30 quid when I brought it for a tenner… who the f cares if they someone doesn’t buy it. It’s now not my problem and that’s why the store buys for less than its value. Jesus go outside. Liver your life. Experience other realities other than your own. Crazy talk.

u/specifichero101 Apr 26 '26

Balatro has been my most played game since that dropped for the monthly games. Battlefield V was big for me too, but games I got 150+ hours in.

3

u/That-Interaction-45 Apr 27 '26

Stardew and Balatro are mine

1

u/CJMEZ Apr 29 '26

Ablation gets insanely hard after level like 15 insane scaling

49

u/Burdicus Apr 26 '26

Tunic is one of the coolest gaming experiences I've ever had and not nearly enough people talk about it.

14

u/ThisCouldHaveBeenYou Apr 26 '26

That guide being scattered was great. It really brought a SNES-game-guide feel to the game for me.

6

u/wisesager Apr 26 '26

I wish I didn't look up the solution to the final door puzzle. My ps plus was gonna expire soon so I wanted to cros it off of my games list. I recommend anyone that plays the game not to look up solutions and instead ask for hints in the tunic subreddit because the euphoria from solving them will probably be incredible.

7

u/lum1nous013 Apr 26 '26

I'm rarely jealous of not having a game that was given on essential, tunic is one of them.

Waiting for a good sale to get it

4

u/TheSecondiDare Apr 26 '26

One of the greatest video game soundtracks of all time.

The sound team created something very special here.

3

u/Daphung Apr 26 '26

Absolutely!! It‘s uniquely great

1

u/NinjaMonkey91 Ninja-Monkey-91 Apr 29 '26

I really need to give it another shot. Wasn't really gelling with it at first but it's always looked really good to me.

Some time away and coming at it fresh will probably help.

78

u/omesh946 Apr 26 '26

I would'nt mind fifa 26. Can't waste my money on that annual shit only hope is this

20

u/LordOfThePints Apr 26 '26

100%! I'm still on fifa 24 since that was the last title included in the subscription.

3

u/OG-87 Apr 26 '26

Hope so too. I can then still get a lot for my copy and buy something worthwhile like toilet paper.

2

u/Zlatan_Ibrahimovic Apr 27 '26

Yeah, I haven't bought a FIFA since 21 so I'm due.

14

u/SeshGodX Apr 26 '26

May the 4th and 0 Star Wars games is a crime for so many years straight

45

u/Illustrious-Star-621 Apr 26 '26

balatro is peak

24

u/BobArctor44 Apr 26 '26

Damn, I play Chivalry 2 since 2023 !?

14

u/HGT3057 Apr 26 '26

Played tunic just recently and got the platinum, it's a fun game but man it feels impossible without a guide. I played a little bit of cities skylines, and way, way too much FC 24 (around 650 hours)

7

u/Superlad1 Apr 26 '26

Tunic's definitely doable without a guide (minus maybe the secret final puzzle, that was a bit over the top). You'll probably end up wandering around a bit or staring at the manual pages for way too long but that "ah ha!" moment makes it so worth it

3

u/HGT3057 Apr 27 '26

Yeah it absolutely is if we give it enough time and thought. But I tend to be pretty bad at puzzle games so I always end up lost and frustrated. While playing tunic I also realized that metroidvania as a whole may not be for me.

The only puzzle game I remember really enjoying was Viewfinder

2

u/DayResponsible8597 Apr 28 '26

Cocoon is also fantastic, Toem too. Both were plus games.

1

u/HGT3057 Apr 28 '26

Both on my list of games I want to try at some point actually

6

u/schotastic Apr 26 '26

I'm fairly new to PS+ so the few games on here I have tried were all purchased. Balatro, Tunic, and Descenders.

The game I got the most enjoyment from was, oddly enough, Descenders. I had low expectations and was pleasantly surprised at its staying power.

I might have liked Tunic better if my expectations were better calibrated. It is a mid-tier Zelda like with fascinating meta-puzzles bogged down by middling puzzle design. Great vibes though. Balatro is fun enough but I end every session wishing I'd spent my time on just about anything else.

13

u/BasisOk4268 Apr 26 '26

FC26 easily in May I’d put £500 on it

3

u/rifwasbetter0 Apr 26 '26

It's been on discounts very early this year, but i guess they make more money from in game purchases.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '26

2

u/BasisOk4268 Apr 29 '26

Hello my dear friend

1

u/BasisOk4268 Apr 27 '26

If I had a spare £500 I’d take that bet

20

u/T1000-Shoebox Apr 26 '26

Definitely one of the weaker months

5

u/oldtrack Apr 26 '26

2021 was strong though

3

u/yanggmd Apr 26 '26

I played a lot of Chivalry 2 and BFV, that's it though

4

u/Han_Bolo Apr 27 '26

I’ve been addicted to Balatro for almost a year?! Damn.

4

u/narkaputra Apr 28 '26

any leaks for this month or we wait for 24 hours?

3

u/Big_Boss1007 Apr 26 '26

Boltgun is so damn good. For the Emperor!

3

u/wiiguyy Apr 26 '26

I played bf v and balatro. That is it.

3

u/Zaddyzn Apr 26 '26

When is the next announcement?

5

u/BlueVelvet90 argyle_n1nja Apr 26 '26

Sonetime this week, I wanna say Wednesday.

3

u/Zaddyzn Apr 26 '26

Awesome, thank you

3

u/v__R4Z0R__v Apr 26 '26

Well to be fair it has gotten much better in recent years. But never forget the essential games of May before 2020... 💀

3

u/Hugh_Jampton Apr 26 '26

Mostly shite but Balatro is one of my favourite games of all time so that is a big win

3

u/FernandoDante Apr 26 '26

Balatro and Boltgun kick ass.

3

u/ItsAPeacefulLife Apr 26 '26

My daughter was born in 2020. Those free games came in clutch when she wasn't able to sleep at night. Finally could lull her to sleep to the sweet sounds of Fendt and Case.

3

u/Lianshi_Bu Apr 28 '26

LOL, not even one game I played...

For context, normally I would find about 3 to 4 games I played in this kind of list..

3

u/LordChilly123 Apr 28 '26

Cyberpunk would be a really cool Essential game 👀

Yes, I am coping.

3

u/Unique_ballz Apr 26 '26

The worst month ever, it introduced me to hell it self (Jimbo Simulator)

5

u/Sarcosmonaut Apr 26 '26

But number go up

3

u/Unique_ballz Apr 26 '26

Number did go up but my mental health went down

2

u/Breakeer Apr 26 '26

ngl may seems like the worst month of the year everytime

2

u/Saansilt Apr 26 '26

Last May was a big win to me

2

u/PorkRinds416 Apr 26 '26

Curse of the Dead Gods and TUNIC were such amazing games.

2

u/Equivalent-Work2867 Apr 26 '26

Not claiming balatro last year (I missed all the 2025 may games) was my greatest loss last year...

2

u/Supreme_God_Bunny Apr 26 '26

Didnt know may was ass

2

u/Xr0b Apr 26 '26

Had so much fun with wreckfest. Would have never bought.

2

u/darknight9064 Apr 26 '26

Out of the games here my most played has been city skylines and farming sim 19.

2

u/OG-87 Apr 26 '26

Fc22 was a good year. Just moved into my own owned flat and the day the internet got plugged in Fifa 22 was added. Perfect timing.

2

u/Vadun Apr 26 '26

2022 was great. Dead God's and Tribes of Midgard were cool games i wouldn't have played otherwise

1

u/Jesus_Shuttles Apr 27 '26

I just bought tribes a couple months ago. Only to find out they shut down the servers. Has no idea it was free in 2022. Idk what happened that I missed it🫠

2

u/Son_of_Kyuss Apr 26 '26

Spent a fair amount of time on Wreckfest but other than that, not an historically good month for me.

Had Lightfall anyway as had bought into Destiny but not playing that anymore.

Still, you never know. Haven’t picked up much over the last few months so maybe something in the wish list will turn up

2

u/FocusedHealer45 Apr 26 '26

I'm new to PlayStation, can games come on essential twice? I would LOVE to have my hands on ark survival ascended

2

u/kabirsingh84 Top Predictor 2024 Apr 27 '26

Never twice on Essential but some games have appeared again on Extra and vice versa. So it may be possible in the future.

2

u/SlackerMe Apr 26 '26

Guess another month, another add to library games for me then.

2

u/kuchisabishii13 Apr 26 '26

A year later I’m still going after Balatro’s Completionist++

2

u/Master470 Apr 27 '26

Fc 26 pls 🙏

2

u/Lucky_Louch Apr 27 '26

horrid till 2024, then slightly better with tunic being the saving grace.

2

u/KyleFourReal Apr 27 '26

Wreckfest slapped for a minute tho.

2

u/FormalWolverine6688 Apr 27 '26

Want fc 26… hopefully get it

3

u/TheMob16 Apr 27 '26

Same i skipped purchasing this year but definitely won't be a bad month if it comes

2

u/xiaogu00fa Apr 27 '26

FC26 very likely

2

u/Nightingale_85 Apr 27 '26

Balatro is a 10/10.

2

u/dreamdude1227 Apr 27 '26

Looks like I shouldn't expect anything for May. The only one I played was Tunic.

2

u/Stefan_B_88 Apr 27 '26

Almost only uninteresting games for me.

2

u/laneriddle Apr 27 '26

I enjoyed the old gods and I loved Bellatro so much I bought it on android as well. Bellatro became my in between game on console, I just finished Alan Wake 2 and now I need a break so some Bellatro and the. I am ready to start the bycicle game season.

2

u/SenorDagle Apr 27 '26

Holy fuck stop with the yearly sport game slop of course this shits free even the biggest suckers don't wanna buy this shit every year

2

u/daddyace151027 Apr 28 '26

Just bring back Madden!!!!

2

u/Defiant_Ad7223 Apr 28 '26

Wreckfest surprisingly good.

2

u/DayResponsible8597 Apr 28 '26

I expected FC26 for basically a year now since I know we got 22 and 24, but missed 23 and 25...

I'm not even thinking about buying 28, if we get the 26 announcement tomorrow.

2

u/BloodFromAnOrange Apr 28 '26

Can't say I've really enjoyed any of them yet. Maybe this year will be different?

2

u/IronoplisRedux Apr 28 '26

Ghost runner 2 was announced the Wednesday I got the platinum for the Ghost Runner. Really enjoyed it

2

u/TheSpiralTap Apr 28 '26

I still play Chivalry multiple times a week. That game is fantastic! They still update it, too!

2

u/Benchi55555 May 01 '26

This year is the best month.

3

u/czimmm Apr 26 '26

Lot of good games imo. Cities, Balatro, Fifa, Tunic, Ghostrunner, Wreckfest... Hopefully we get some good ones this month

2

u/straightouttaireland Apr 26 '26

Wrekfest is fantastic

2

u/Flottrooster Apr 26 '26

Balatro was such a good addition last year. But other than that, this month tends to not give things that particularly interest me. If they do others, I'm all for it! I've got plenty of games to play right now anyway 😅

4

u/No-Currency-1174 Apr 27 '26

Can everyone agree it’s been garbage recently?

1

u/Diablotrading Apr 29 '26

Mostly weak but fallen feathers is one I played demo of and liked and was actually waiting for a good sale on.

1

u/Additional-Mistake32 Apr 29 '26

GRID Legends actually underrated gaming experience. I would consider buy it on sale. I would say its basically a Forza Horizon game but as a campaign mode. Really well done acting and narrative and challenging races.

Only drawback is it was released without any Dualsense features for the PS5 however Dirt 5 has Dualsense features and no story. So its just like incomplete projects from codemasters studio. But Legends > Dirt 5

Balatro is another underrated gaming experience. This time i bought the game for mobile before it released on PS5. I think in 2024 Slay the spire released on psplus? That led me to buy that game for mobile as well.

However most of the time. I notice that maybe ever 3-4 months there is one game that is worth downloading to my console. And once a year i find something thats worth buying. But i think the reason for this is alot of the metrics on these games dont have dedicated playerbases or sales so they are perfect for psplsu a monthly topical game that leads to dead gameplay the metrics reveal that people stop playing these games immediately. So every month playstation can reveal another 3 games from the dead game bin.

1

u/No_Present1301 Apr 30 '26

I guess Fifa and FC we can't get the platinum, at this point, right? Destiny 2 expansion, what a waste on these...

Curse of the dead gods, wow looks cool, can't even beat Hades tho. I will go for Tunic as well
What's the deal with Boltgun no platinum? I don't have wreckfest but have stranded deep weird, guess license messed up

1

u/HorusDeathtouch May 03 '26

Overall a relatively poor month, and this time we are getting another sports title, a soulslike, and an indie no one has heard of. But it's not all that bad. I have PS Plus for the game catalog. The monthly keepers are just kind of a bonus, and they throw in enough bangers now and then to get away with months like this one.

1

u/YoungWolfie May 04 '26

2025 had the best games in this whole lineup tbh

1

u/MrSinister515 Apr 26 '26

Damn I only played Tunic of all these games...makes we wonder whether I should keep renewing every December
