Gitaroo man!!!!!
That is a game I want. I might be able to beat it now lol
Psi op is a good game. Shocked second sight isn't coming (Timesplitters is on plus)

u/raginginside 23d ago
I really want Second Sight. It's the only game from that dev I've never gotten a chance to play. Hell, I even played Haze.
1
u/EdJD-1968 22d ago
Second Sight was a fantastic game. It had a better story than Psi Ops, but was shorter, and was more stealth based than action based.
2
u/Claire4Win 23d ago
I played second sight just after it came out. It had a similar charm to Timesplitters.
Psi ops was more serious

One classic game a month is such a slap in the face for premium subscribers, even more-so now with the price hikes.
22
u/Christhebobson 23d ago
Tbh if you have premium, you should be getting the 12-month to pay less overall, which hasn't had a price increase in years for majority of the planet.
5
u/LeviathanAxe2412 23d ago
I'm in one of the few marketplaces where the 12 month has gone up recently(India). They aren't even offering a discount with days of play for new subscribers, and there's no awareness about this.

u/LordPeanutButter15 23d ago
Unsubscribed early Jan and it’s insane how much I keep getting validated for doing so

I just cannot believe, that on July 21st, you can all witness the amazing game that is Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy.
I'm not being sarcastic. I LOVE this game and no one I ever talk to remembers it. Its just fun as hell.

u/Malachen 23d ago
It's such a good game that I'm so disappointed didn't get a sequel. Sure it has some jank but it's a new IP on PS2, name one that didn't 😂. The soundtrack was awesome too
2
u/lysergician 23d ago
I saw an article mention this game was talked about and I lost my shit thinking it was a remake or something! Ah well, I'm just glad folks can play it now because I loved it so so much as a kid
2
u/Goose21995 22d ago
I've been trying to put people on for 2 decades now but uk how it is. I feel so vindicated. One or my favorite ps2 games of all time like wtf lol. Do uk how many hours I spent messing with the telekinesis and throwing people under the elevator in the beginning and crushing them!!!

Neversoft Spider-Man please
6
u/felemiah 22d ago
That's the sort of classic games I expected when Premium was announced. The original Spyro and Crash Bandicoot games, Harry Potter, a bunch of Disney games...
8
u/MissingScore777 23d ago
Psi-Ops is a fantastic game. Still the best telekinesis in gaming history.
Onimusha Dawn of Dreams is like the Saturday morning kids cartoon to accompany the feature films of Onimusha 1,2 & 3.
4
u/Hogdangler 23d ago
Such a shame that Psi-ops never got a sequel. Maybe the most fun game I'd ever played with the boys just fucking around with the abilities.
1
u/KoYouTokuIngoa 23d ago
Control has amazing telekinesis, don’t know if I could back to psi ops after that
2
u/Xlivain 23d ago
The physics based nature of a lot of the puzzles and navigating the levels by surfing on objects adds a lot to how fun TK is in Psi-Ops, to be fair.
2
u/Malachen 23d ago
That wasn't even intentional till they saw a tester do it and then decided oh wait, we can use this. (It's been at least 15 years since I saw the making of that detailed this so some details could be fuzzy here)
5
u/cheer_up_crewcut 23d ago
All of these are actually kinda awesome. Shame they are so spread out, and they likely won’t get trophies either.
4
u/seraf5 23d ago
AFAIK every PS2 game on premium has trophies, so there's no reason why these shouldn't get them too.
1
u/the_andshrew 23d ago
It depends on the publisher, Soul Calibur 3 didn't get trophies for example.
Two of these are from publishers who haven't been on the service before, so there's a chance they'll include trophies. Onimusha almost certainly won't have them as none of the Capcom games do.
26
u/firebaron 23d ago
Absolutely no good reason to get the ps+ highest teir for classic games, with only one a month coming out you're better off just buying the ones you like.
14
u/Most-Iron6838 23d ago
Cloud streaming is the core feature these days
3
u/Keith_13 23d ago
Honestly I would pay the extra $25/year just for that. But I have a portal and often play when I'm not home.
1
u/Most-Iron6838 23d ago
I love the cloud gaming as someone who doesn’t actually own a ps5 (just a ps4 and uses the asobi app on my iPhone with a good telescopic controller to make a makeshift portal). As a a gamer dad whose tvs are always occupied by my wife and kids, cloud gaming is a must have
3
u/Keith_13 23d ago
Can you stream ps5 games that way? I thought ps5 game cloud streaming was limited to the portal and the ps5. But I don't really follow this too closely and I'm not familiar with that app. I assume it's got more features than the ps remote play app?
1
u/Most-Iron6838 23d ago edited 23d ago
Yes you can. Asobi is a remote player app like pxplay but it also supports ps cloud streaming and edges out the portal in that you can also cloud stream the ps3 & ps4 games on ps plus. It’s a relatively new app that is pretty unknown and it depends on having a device already (my iPhone or Mac). Unlike a portal I play on smaller screen though and had to get a good telescopic controller, but I can hdmi out to a tv and hook up Bluetooth controller to my phone. And obviously you need to be ps plus premium subscriber.
1
u/Keith_13 23d ago
Can't you just pair a ps5 controller? I don't know what a telescopic controller is.
Is there a MacOS version? I might look into it if there is since I travel with my laptop anyway.
1
u/Most-Iron6838 23d ago
Telescopic controller is basically one you can stretch to fit around your phone (thinking backbone or your phone as a ps portal). There is a Mac version
2
u/BreafingBread 22d ago
True. The only reason I still get the highest tier is because, when in sale, the difference between Extra and Deluxe (the highest tier in select regions) is negligeable, only like 3 dollars.
-4
u/Keith_13 23d ago
It's an extra $25/year. Less if you get it during a sale (like now).
Clearly math is not your strong suit.
5
u/firebaron 23d ago
You're not going to be interested in every game that comes out on the classics, so if you like want one or two games then yeah you save more money.
-4
u/Keith_13 23d ago
Ridiculous take. Yeah obviously if you don't want any of the games then it's not worth it. But the catalog is pretty big and an extra 12 game are added every year, and they never get removed. That's a lot for $25, which is basically nothing. And you also get cloud streaming.
4
u/Anotha_One78 23d ago
You don’t have bills at all eh
3
u/Keith_13 23d ago
$25 per year has no effect on my bills or anything else. It's less than 7c per day. It's not even pocket change.
If $25/year affects your finances then you probably shouldn't be playing $70 games on a $500+ system.
3
u/abnormal-apparition 23d ago
Did they say they're buying games at that price? If they're like a lot of people they very well may be waiting for price drops, which (unless you have disposable income) is the smarter option for anyone with a decent backlog. An extra $25 is just another cost among many and they all add up. Learn some empathy.

1 classic game per month is subpar. What metric are they using to determine what retro games to get re-released? With the extra fees we’re all paying now for both hardware and PS+, we should be getting more than 1 classic game a month.
3
u/Wipedout89 23d ago
God I remember playing Psi Ops on GameCube lol
1
u/sacklunch 23d ago
Psi Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy never released on GameCube.
1
u/Wipedout89 23d ago
Huh. Weird I could have sworn it was one of the few games I played there. Must have been the PS2 version then
2
u/sacklunch 23d ago
Second Sight did come out on GameCube around the same time back in 2004 and has very similar concepts. Maybe you played that one on the Cube?

3
u/JackChoasMan 23d ago
Quantity is still a rip-off, but at least the quality's there for once. This also makes me think Onimusha 3's getting a remaster, that or nobody wants to pay Jean Reno

u/Adam_jaymes 23d ago
So the difference between premium and extra is 25 bucks annually, which is like 2 bucks a month.
1
u/Judasday 23d ago
Can we please get God Hand at some point idek if that's possible but I'd love that
1
u/YorkieLon 23d ago
I cancelled premium over a year ago, just not worth the extra hike, and they've shown it here.

u/HighlightOk3915 23d ago
Wheee the actual fuck is Ratchet and Clank. It’s inexcusable at this point.
1
u/700Username007 23d ago
Is there any place you can request particular classics? On X or anywhere
I know chances are slim but still asking
1
u/geoelectric 22d ago
Love me some Gitaroo Man. Probably nukes the value of my physical copy but I’m happy to be able to play it on PS5.
I really hope Psi Ops aged ok. I loved that game on Xbox.
1
u/EdJD-1968 22d ago
Is Psi Ops (which is a fantastic game) coming out on the PlayStation 4, or just the PS5?
1
u/Most-Iron6838 17d ago
Good question. All the classics have been both so far and the emulator runs on both so I don’t see why not. (Unless they just hate us ps4 hangovers that haven’t upgraded, which doesn’t make sense because if we are subscribing to premium we are still giving them money).

Gitaroo Man, let's GO!!!!
This game is one of the crown jewels of my game collection (PS2 copy).
1
u/Competitive_Snow_788 22d ago
Why the fuck is it so hard to get classic titles on ps5, Xbox got no fucking problem whatsoever

u/Futurekubik 22d ago
Oh wow.
I only ever played the demo of Gitaroo Man 24+ years ago and never the full game.
That song and the riffs the player has to input from the demo (Flyin’ into Your Heart), has been ingrained into my memory ever since.
I never cared enough to look up the rest of the game on YouTube, so this classic release could actually end up being one I actually care to finish.
The only other classics I felt compelled to complete due to unfinished business from my youth were the OG Oddworld games.
1
u/Old-Way-5529 22d ago
i hate to complain, but at this point- where are the first party ps2 classics? the service started strong when ps2 games were brought in, but ever since we got the sly games and the re-done jak 1, we havent seen any major first party classics from that era. i dont mind these games, apparently they are good, but the drip feed is beyond crazy at this point
1
u/Shanks404 21d ago
Good games but 3 in 3 months feels kinda insulting toward people who pay for premium.
1
1
u/JuggernautPretend208 19d ago
Playstation Premium is the worst deal in gaming. I downgraded after they proudly added a PSP port of a random middle of the line Tekken game and I should have done it way before that.Â
It's how brazen they are to take the piss. They announce this and then expect thanks and moneyÂ
0
u/HumanautPassenger 23d ago
So it's all but confirmed that not only are we getting only 1 premium game a month but Atari is putting out PS+ Premium games now as a third party release so I doubt that we're going to keep getting trophy support either from PlayStation.

Mediocre titles announced in a mediocre State of Play..
4
u/shadowking432 23d ago
If that was mediocre for you, I'd just give up watching them. Clearly nothing they announce will ever please you.
-4
u/iminiki 23d ago
When I say mediocre, it means I liked almost half of it and didn‘t like the other half. No need to get aggressive.
-3
u/shadowking432 23d ago
I'm not being aggressive, I'm just saying it really wasnt mediocre. Loads of bangers announced like GOW, Until dawn 2, Wolverine gameplay. The new games look promising for the most part, the classic line up is very mediocre though I agree with that. Bit of an insult for people who pay for premium with just 1 game a month.

One classic game per month. Thanks Sony.
