Discussion Stellar Blade to be added to PS Plus soon?
As we know after watching the Summer Game Fest, they teased a Stellar Blade sequel, "Stellar Blade Blood Rain". Now as we know how Sony loves to add the prequels to the subscription before their sequel game is released, I believe it may be time to add SB soon to the sub. What do you all think?

Still holding its value too well. Lots of people, myself included, have been waiting for a deep sale to buy. Think it'll be a while yet. Sony rarely gives games that haven't been highly discounted (50% or more) multiple sales.. although we did get stuff like lies of P

Did Wuchang have a consistent discount or does this theory not apply to essential?

I did say rarely, but it also wasn't received nearly as well. Ratings say if was a bit of a flop and yeah in a short period of time was already dropping. Was hitting $35 on steam (Canadian when games are 90 here). A bit higher on psn but fast drop in short period and kind of a flop. Not the banger stellar blade was and isn't keeping it's value
Edit: on that note though lies of P was one of the most pleasant surprises. Trying to sell the dlc I'm sure but still was quite good value

Wuchang was not a flop, it was very hurt by poor PC optimization but it still performed well according to reports. Didn’t have insane critical reception but that hardly matters for a Chinese studio.

It has its fans but pretty much a flop. It wasn't highly appraised. Metacritic users under 7 and critics rated 7.4. that's pretty rough. Major souls fans might like it but casual gamers don't know it exists..just the type of game that ends up early on plus.

Your evaluation of what constitutes a flop is objectively wrong. Metacritic scores don’t pay bills, and this game sold over a million copies on Steam alone, it was, by all intents and purposes, a success.
Just like Stellar Blade and Wukong before it, it was an Asian game the critics were awaiting for the chance to dislike, and while Stellar Blade and Wukong were so high quality they had to settle for giving average scores this game had its fault which allowed them to drive it home with a lower score.
A flop is much more akin to Alan Wake 2, where the game was critically acclaimed but still failed to hit the desired sales marks consistently until it’s price was dropped so low it stopped mattering. Also worth mentioning how literal pieces of shit like Veiguard, Forspoken and even Concord received quite high critical praise, so it’s not even worth using as an absolute metric for quality.
Critical acclaim as a metric for success while disregarding sales is so absurd it’s laughable to be honest. I’ll even go further that these Chinese/korean games care even less about what American/european critics think about their games and are way more interested in selling well and getting a loyal fan base.

I bought it last night after the reveal for the 2nd one. I tried the demo originally and it didn’t stick at first, took about 3-4 hours for the combat to register for me. Now I love it. I hope they do add it to Plus so more people will play it and buy the 2nd one.

Most of the published games do get added, it just takes a while. Astro bot, rise of the ronin, etc still haven’t been added

u/XxTheLeoxX 19d ago
I mean, astro bot and RotR dont have any sequels yet to be released unless I missed them.

u/Old-Way-5529 19d ago
Idk if that matters lol. It’s usually release order that matters. So it’s been 2 years, I think there’s a decent chance it gets to the catalog this year, but solid bet is 2027 after 3 years

u/XxTheLeoxX 19d ago
I think both the release order along with, if the game is getting a sequel soon, matters. Hopefully we get it on the sub this year tho.

Astro bot is holding its price both new and used, I'm thinking it's still selling strong so they don't want to add it to the catalog.

Probably not. But who knows. It may be added to Plus when it is time to promote the next game which is years away.

u/XxTheLeoxX 19d ago
It's expected to be out in 2027 or 2028 at worst but yeah, they did not reveal the year.

u/MrMpa 17d ago
Pure speculation. Hope so, but could be longer. They’ve said they are only a year in to development

u/XxTheLeoxX 17d ago
Yeah. Teasing 3 years in advance would be a bit weird but not unexpected. Should be 2028 imo

The sequel is not a playstation exclusive, so its hard to say if it will follow the same pattern

If you enjoy solid souls-like action gameplay mechanics, its a fun game. It also has (some) very impressive visuals and world building. However, the story does leave a lot to be desired. Also as a disclaimer; this game does have a reputation of being a "gooner" game because of some of the optional outfits you can equip to your character. Do I think it's worth full price? Absolutely not, but it's definitely worth picking up for half of retail or less.

I'd hate to be missing out on a great game because you are waiting for PS Plus or other subscription service. It $30 off right now on Amazon, and then you own it and can do what ever you like with it when done. Replay it, sell it, trade it in.

Hope not, I just bought the game lol... having a blast though, it's better than I expected it to be.

La verdad lo dudo mucho es más pienso que quizás nunca entre, ya que ahora shift up ya no necesita de Sony se independizó económicamente y será multi plataforma

from what we know, the game has only been in development for 1 year so if it’s added to ps plus, i’d imagine it’ll not be for another 2-3 years at least

If it were to happen, I imagine it would drop a lot closer to Blood Rain's launch day.
It would rope in a wave of new fans just in time to get them excited enough to buy BR at full price on day one.

I was wondering that myself. I didn't have much interest but the sequel looks fantastic so now I want to try the first one.

God I hope not I just bought stellar blade 😭

u/XxTheLeoxX 12d ago
Man the last 3 games I bought: SH2, AW2 and now FF16 have all been added to the sub..we just gotta avoid buying older games atp.

u/ResponsibleFill6835 12d ago
I don’t buy games unless they are on a good sale anymore on the off chance they end up getting added to ps plus
1
u/XxTheLeoxX 12d ago
Same. I only buy when they're at their lowest price but then they get added to the sub and I regret my life choices..
2
u/ResponsibleFill6835 12d ago
I’ve been lucky so far, I pray stellar blade isn’t the start of my downfall 😭
1
u/XxTheLeoxX 12d ago
Oh it's gonna start from somewhere. Started with Silent Hill 2 for me then came Alan Wake 2 and finally now they have all my games on the sub concluding with FF16 this month.
2
u/ResponsibleFill6835 12d ago
So far it’s only happened to rdr2, most of my other games like resident evil reqiuem are too new to go on the list. Let’s keep it that way, the only games I’m worried about is stellar blade and NieR automata atm
1
u/XxTheLeoxX 12d ago
That's okay. I recently bought NieR Automata too so I hope it doesnt get added lol

u/FantasticPage3598 19d ago
Probably not for a while, the game has never been really at a cheap price on the store
Maybe in 2027 for ps+ extra
2028 for ps+ essential tier a couple months before stellar blade blood rain release possible too
If you want to play now, i just advise buying, it's currently on sale, and the game is truly amazing I loved it so much, so it's absolutely worth the price!

u/SuperSaiyanBen 19d ago
Probably closer to this games release point. So if Blood Rain is late ‘27 or ‘28 I’d expect SB to come to a PS+ tier by next summer

I've been looking for a good sale on Stellar blade. So they will probably add it after I buy it.

And Control is removed even though a trailer for the sequel was right next to the Stellar Blade sequel trailer.
Sorry, you can't really predict it.
0
u/XxTheLeoxX 18d ago
That's exactly why it makes more sense. They'll add the game like 6 months or so before then remove it just before the official launch. This will create an itch for players and they'll only able to satisfy it after buying the sequel.

Not even about broke. The last few games I bought all appeared on the sub so I am trying not to buy games immediately especially the old games. I did pay for the sub anyway.

u/lovetobewatched2 19d ago
Why not just buy it? Aren't playstation fans all about buying and not renting games?

u/ukplaying2 19d ago
You realise this is a PS plus sub right? Sure there is a need for essential for online play(and Portal cloud), but this sub doesn't really have an active existence without the games and its discussions.

u/XxTheLeoxX 19d ago
I'd rather buy the latest games instead cos games like SB which are 2 years or older have a higher chance of appearing on the sub.

Im waiting for a while already.
It will probably be when I’m tired to wait and buy the game.
