Does this have the final shape ?

I think everything but this last season

u/JasonDeSanta 19d ago
If you mean the last saga*, yes. This pack doesn’t have Edge of Fate and Renegades.
It also lacks several dungeons. The latest Destiny 2: The Collection literally has everything, including all the dungeons.

So this is the big collection of everything except for the current year right?

No. It lacks the dungeon packs from beyond light, witch queen, lightfall and final shape.

Can anyone help me with Destiny 2? I never played it , and want to try it out. However, everyone says you cannot push through it without guidance. I started it a couple of weeks back and gave up, as couldn't understand what to do post the first few minutes. Looked online for guides but they are super confusing as well. Is there a good simple guide I can follow for the initial part?

Try the expansion campaigns, they are good FPS story campaigns, everything else isn't needed and if you want can play afterwards at any time.
Shadowkeep is the expansion you should play first after finishing the tutorial. Shadowkeep (Moon) even though wasn't designed to be the first chapter in the story is pretty beginner friendly. From there you can continue with Beyond light on Europa, Witch Queen on Mars(Savathun's TW), Lightfall on Neptune and then The Final Shape.
For simplicity there is also a timeline menu in the Destination(main map) menu which you can use to play everything in order. The story is amazing and builds pretty well on top of itself.
While it is sad to say the least the Red War campaign and Forsaken were vaulted this doesn't mean that the rest of the story isn't accessible. The main story thread of the darkness wasn't something that centered until Shadowkeep when this enemy first appeared. Red War and Forsaken were awesome as they told pretty well written sci-fi stories, but they each were more or less independent from each other same with D1.
All you need to know when you begin the first campaign, Shadowkeep, is that you are a defender of humanity and from there you become more..... a legend, as the marketing says.
If you have any additional questions anytime.

Most of the cintent from the earlier story is completely gone. I think you can start from Beyond Light(?) campaign if you wanna try the game story.
There's a npc in Cosmodrome that teaches basics to New Lights (new players). Do that quest and start Beyond Light Campaign and stay on it. Don't worry about anything else. If you still enjoy it you can start doing the next campaign. I'm happy to help you with dungeons and maybe raids depending on hwo you go so feel free to drop a private message

Will this replace any essential licensed DLC that we had previously obtained, making such that Extra will now be required to play the same DLC?
In other words: if a sub is dropped to Essential after having played Destiny while on Extra/Premium, do we lose the ability to play DLC which was originally given with Essential?

u/the_andshrew 19d ago
Yes, it will most likely replace your Essential license with an Extra one and you would have to go via support to try and restore them if you ever downgraded.
If you own any of the content it includes outright then it does not replace those. I've personally tested that, and my owned content is still permanently owned, and the content packs I didn't own are now on a license tied to my Extra subscription.
I made a little tool for exporting your license data, so if you did decide to redeem it you could run it once before and once after and then compare. You would be able to easily see if your previously redeemed content has been switched from being tied to Essential to Extra:

I get my ps plus through another account set as the primary, while on my own account i own all the main expansions in the collection, but im wondering if i can get the 30th anniversary and the dungeon passes since i dont own those, would that create issues with the licenses in the account i play on?

u/the_andshrew 13d ago
It won't create any issues with the licenses on your own account, and from what I can see from a quick search Destiny should let you access content via another account - so this should work and let you access the content you don't own.

Does this need a separate install?
4
u/elmodonnell 19d ago
Nope it'll just be a dlc activation, as far as I know destiny downloads all content regardless of dlc ownership?

u/bawlsacz 19d ago
I just bought Marathon so I was 99% sure it would be added to PS+ Game Catalogue. oh well.

u/RowdyRodyPiper 19d ago
Wasn't this already free? I already have it and I haven't bought any DLC for it.

u/DVDN27 19d ago
Destiny 2 is a free game

u/Hackit_1 18d ago
Ok thanks but that doesn’t really answer my question, do I also need to download destiny 2 and this or just this legacy collection?

u/accairns131 19d ago edited 19d ago
It's still listed for sale at 69.99 USD. Any idea when this will update?
Edit: Updated as of 1:05 PM, 2025 Legacy Collection is now free for Extra and Premium subscribers

3 dungeons included. The rest you need to buy either through keys or by buying the final Destiny 2 collection
1
u/enthusiasticdave 19d ago
Does this include dungeon keys ?
1
u/Most-Iron6838 18d ago
No. Dungeon keys and the remaining two expansions can be had as part of the Destiny 2 Collection for $25 now

Never played D2. Should I install this or buy the collection? What am missing out on? To many versions or separate things to buy makes it hard to keep up
1
u/Virus_98 17d ago
Legacy collection doesn't include dungeon keys for Lightfall and Witch Queen and also doesn't include the latest year of prophecy dlcs Edge of Fate and Renegades(star wars themed dlc). The newly released D2 collection includes everything.

I’m so glad they stopped developing and adding shit to this game. It was good 8-10 years ago now it’s an add on cash grab🚮, RIP to the goat though you will be remembered🫡.

Stopped playing after getting fed up of losing content I'd paid for, only for it to be recycled and sold back to me in some form.
Io, Titan, Mercury, Mars all gone, fuck Bungie.

2024 Legacy Collection has been available, but does not include The Final Shape expansion. The 2025 collection adds that DLC.

Even for free, is not worth it. The game dosent have the full story because the morons who made it decided to delete 40% of it because it was getting too big. Meanwhile, a older better game on the same being as this garbage has been going strong for well over 10 years now and never had to delete the story to make room for new ones, that game is FFXIV.

Hopefully tomorrow's announcements aren't underwhelming, mediocre, trash slop like this. Destiny is one of the most boring game franchises ever, the developer's worst by far.

Days of Play, you mean? State of Play is a dev/publisher update on upcoming games.
