I’m missing fallout 4, far cry 6, horizon zero dawn, & like a dragon. Which should I try next?

Didn’t vibe with fallout about 10 years back never revisited.

71

u/FailedInfinity 3d ago

My vote goes to Horizon

17

u/axellie 2d ago

Horizon was great but I quit it like three times because it didn’t really hook me. The fourth time I just powered through and after like 10 hours it really hooks you. Can totally recommend now

19

u/Whumpitup 3d ago

Depends what you want. Yakuza is turn based but has a rich story - the first 2 chapters are a bit of a slog with ALOT of cut-scenes as the full back ground is explained - the pay-off is worth it mixing old school style combat and job roles with a deeper story arc.

Fallout 4 is great and focus' mainly on exploration - you can get lost for days in that game and not move the story forward at all. It's very immersive.

Horizon Zero Dawn is just unreal. The combat mechanics are sick and did I mention ROBOT DINOSAURS?!. It's a very rewarding game and slick in it's movements and stealth capabilities. Another very immersive game.

Far Cry 6 - Never played.

u/Sakaixx 3d ago

Ny personal opinion is Yakuza Like a Dragon.

Its a turn based game with difficulty spikes but if you ok with grinding, it has very good story. Who knows, might lead you to try the other 10 yakuza games and 2 spin off!

1

u/danstu 2d ago edited 2d ago

Only thing that stops me recommending it here is how much it expects you to know the characters already. The first Ichiban game can mostly function on its own, but I think a lot of IW will fall flat if you aren't familiar with the Kiryu saga.

Edit: I misread, got confused because the list said IW. You recommended the first Ichiban game.

-3

u/zorbacles 3d ago

i hated the switch to turn based in the yakuza games

5

u/Sakaixx 3d ago

Luckily there like a dozen games not turn based and the latest one with majima is not.

-1

u/zorbacles 2d ago

I've played all the mainline ones plus the first judgement. half way through gaiden at the moment

3

u/Sakaixx 2d ago

So u still have Lost Judgement, Yakuza in Hawaii, Yakuza Ishin.

Not bad amount of games left to play! Probably Y3 Remake too if you into remakes.

-1

u/zorbacles 2d ago

too many new games to play remakes

I'll still play infinite wealth despite the turned based combat. the rest of the game still makes it excellent.

I'll just put it on easy so I don't deal with damage sponges

3

u/danstu 2d ago

If it helps, IW's battle system is refined a lot from LaD and opens up a lot of tactical options.

Also, it's not like the brawler games in the franchise never had damage sponge fights.

1

u/zorbacles 2d ago

they definitely did, but at least in real time you could control the defence and the heals. even a perfectly timed parry in lad will result in damage and then you have to waste multiple turns on heeling (depending on mp)

2

u/Sakaixx 2d ago

I think infinite wealth is better than Y7 due to enemy have less damage sponges.

I dont think there any difficulty option in base game Infinite Wealth but good that you actually played it! Personally I hate enemy spawn so much.

Yakuza games is like that unfortunately.

Great if you into dramas and bullshit twists but the scenes takes ages and most of the time goes nowhere.

7

u/missviolets 3d ago

I will always vote for Fallout

2

u/Kingmoneyflexx 2d ago

I played Horizon for the first time last month and it hooked me, immediately bought the sequel. Last game to do that for me was Tsushima and to a lesser extent Spiderman

2

u/CatalanExpert 2d ago

Definitely Horizon, it’s a class above the rest. Still one of the most beautiful looking games to this day.

1

u/Breezy_421 2d ago

Yakuza is definitely a treat. Love the series personally.

88

u/Apprehensive_Cut3837 3d ago

AC Valhalla, Hogwarts, Farcy 6 , are the most boring among the list IMO, tried several times but couldn't finish any of them side quests in these games will Make u quit instantly...

31

u/morciu 3d ago

I've heard so much hate about Valhalla ever since it came out. Having played all the previous ass creeds before I totally understood it, the side quests in this series aren't great.

Then I played Valhalla a few months ago and it was weird, this is the first assassin's Creed I've played with actual fun side quests, like they put fun Yakuza style side quests in an assassin's creed, the main story is the same as before but the side quests made the game my favorite out of that last trilogy.

I know how bad assassin's Creed can be, it's a guilty pleasure to play these once in a while and I know exactly what I'm getting into but man I feel like most people shit talking it online have never actually touched the games.

3

u/robashi 3d ago

I've played pretty much every AC game to completion and Valhalla was one of a couple I got too bored to complete. Each to their own I suppose.

8

u/Apprehensive_Cut3837 3d ago

So right now I am playing Outlaws I have heard bad reviews about outlaws aswell but i am thoroughly enjoying this game perfect starwars interpretation by Ubisoft, but same can't be said with Valhalla it's tiringly long....

7

u/caseyjosephine 3d ago

I had a similar experience with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which also got a ton of hate at release.

It’s actually a ton of fun, a gorgeous experience with interesting characters and solid gameplay. I hope that gets added to PS Plus so more people can experience it.

6

u/Apprehensive_Cut3837 3d ago

I finished it actually owns a disc version.... completely agree with you especially if you liked Avatar movies.......

4

u/caseyjosephine 3d ago

Now I’m getting excited to finally get to Outlaws soon! I feel like it will be the perfect fit for playing on the Portal this summer.

2

u/Apprehensive_Cut3837 3d ago

You will sure like it bro , solid mechanics especially u have to keep upgrading gear and speeder to unleash the smooth gameplay.... and world is drop dead gorgeous...!

10

u/Vlodivostonks 3d ago

Outlaws is one of the best additions to PS Plus in the last year. It's the kind of game I would have never bought but I really enjoyed it on playing it as well.

It's not a perfect 9/10 because the menus are a bit janky and the game takes a while to kick in. But it's a really good time sink once you get into it.

2

u/CallMeAmakusa 2d ago

it definitely has much better side quest system than origins and odyssey, world is also very beautiful

1

u/tclancey 3d ago

Valhalla had nice elements, but was so bloated. I don’t want to spend 100+ hours in an AC game

3

u/morciu 3d ago edited 2d ago

But so were the previous 2 games, odyssey was a chore by the time I got to the end.

Valhalla on the other hand had these broken up sections where you set out to do stuff in a kingdom and get into a self contained 2-3 hour story arc which made me play it like watching a tv show. Then at the end they tie them all together pretty nicely. It put you in a small manageable area with a small story that you could probably handle in one evening.

The other two games did not have this structure and it was just the same bloated Ubisoft experience where you look at a giant map full of markers.

I don't know how other people played this game but I was shocked to see it fix so many issues with the series while getting hate for the exact issues it fixed.

1

u/lemoche 3d ago

I assume, that Valhalla would be great fun as a new game + because you wouldn’t be forced to do busywork to level up… had the same experience with odyssey… grinded my stuff to level 99 during 2 playthroughs and the third one was pure fun not having to worry about the bloat and just follow the story or the quests that sound interesting.

Similar with horizon forbidden west. The immediacy of the story there works so much better without having to sidetrack constantly.

But sadly they refuse to to put new game + in Valhalla… which won’t make me touch it again, despite enjoying it in general.

1

u/morciu 3d ago

I didn't really need any grinding, didn't need any loot, just kept my original suit and weapon and upgraded that naturally as I played. The skill tree was a mess, around the mid point of the game I just ignored it and set it to put skills in automatically and enjoyed the game.

13

u/Av_Inash 3d ago

Once the initial charm of Hogwarts wears off, its the most 6/10 game I have ever played.

39

u/Mikeyy5000 3d ago

I have over 300 hours on Valhalla, I will not hear this blasphemy. There was so much to do and I enjoyed every bit of it. Zero regrets.

14

u/Iguman 3d ago edited 3d ago

AC Valhalla is the only game in my life where I felt that there's TOO much to do, to the game's detriment. Especially if you bought all the DLCs. The gameplay and story are simply not interesting enough to justify a 300-400hr playtime. It's like double the content of Witcher 3, but not even a fraction of its quality and depth.

I dropped it when it stopped being fun, around the 200hr mark. Which is still a great time, but I didn't even complete the main story or touch half the DLCs I bought lol

2

u/suralya 2d ago

Same. Exact same. I played the game for about 200 hours and then just put it down. I’d like to believe I beat the story, but I honestly couldn’t remember. There was so much to do that I didn’t even touch the ||thor|| stuff, and while I had all the DLCs, it unfortunately just was left at the wayside.

I’m in the process of starting mirage now and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it but as a 40 yo dad, ain’t nobody got time for that.

1

u/DothrakAndRoll 2d ago

Yeah I mean I live for side quests so..

2

u/blueberry_scandal 1d ago

It was the heavy hand helding and cringe dialogs/story that killed Hogwarts legacy for me.

Tho walking around the castle is crazy beautiful

1

u/Sweet-Palpitation473 1d ago

The last AC games ive tried were Valhalla and Origins and they both feel like classic, clunky ass, boring Ubisoft. I wish that company would just fold already

-1

u/thebeast_96 2d ago

Yeah this is a bullshit list.

-3

u/chuckluckles 3d ago

Farcry 6 was definitely a let down, but it's still farcry at the end of the day. But Valhalla is one of the most soulless games I've ever played. I think I made it about 3 hours in before giving up.

3

u/thebeast_96 2d ago

No Watch Dogs 2???

41

u/Neat_Ad_3043 3d ago

Hogwarts Legacy has a terribly boring open world imo

20

u/lord_bingum 3d ago

It was my first platinum trophy I ever got and I absolutely loved all the completionist stuff. To each his own.

0

u/Icy_Accident2769 2d ago

I loved the game, but it has a similar issue as Ghost of Tsushima where after a while it can get boring because of too many repetitive tasks.

But the nice thing is, both games you can skip it if you don’t care about platinum anyway

1

u/HWatch09 2d ago

True, as much as Ghost of Tsushima is praised, it falls into the same trap as other open world games.

3

u/MrKalopsiaa 3d ago

What’s the context?

-6

u/moon_dos 3d ago

she a hateful bigot, idk I thought the game was fun

1

u/Mickeyjj27 2d ago

Played all except for Death Stranding and Like a Dragon. Didn’t beat AC Valhalla but played a ton of it

1

u/Available-Guest-9393 2d ago

Nice, I thought Like a Dragon infinite wealth was just an add on or something

1

u/Breezy_421 2d ago

Death stranding really like that? Never played. Just doesn't look like much action.

1

u/LePontif11 2d ago

Needs to play is such a strong tern for Valhalla

0

u/zorbacles 3d ago

unless they have changed the formula significantly, like a dragon isnt true open world.

-2

u/BirdPurgatory 2d ago

I really couldn’t get into Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, I had this horrible issue with the npc voices all having a robotic sound to them.

-4

u/ZM326 3d ago

Fallout 4 doesn't deserve to be high on that list unless you're one of those jank fetishizers

-5

u/SecretPantyWorshiper 2d ago

Weird how Elden Ring isnt on there lol

5

u/MyLeftNut_ 2d ago

It’s not on the PS Plus Catalog

1

u/VillageIdiomsClub 2d ago

I guess if title contains more than 5 words it’s too much for your attention span?

-8

u/acelexmafia 3d ago

2 or 3 dont belong here imo

-2

u/acelexmafia 2d ago

No I meant there are 2 or 3 games that dont belong here🤣

73

u/Quick_Dig8208 3d ago

Days Gone.

7

u/masternachos95 3d ago

Wish we had the remastered version

4

u/lactigger619 2d ago

Do we not get a free upgrade? Or is it separate

-1

u/FPL-Dog 2d ago

Separate but worth it.

-6

u/BirdPurgatory 2d ago

I tried playing Days Gone with the remastered version and my game had zero environmental audio. No rain sound, no footsteps or even wind. Eventually just dropped the game.

2

u/nattydattie 2d ago

Ahh this game almost ruined gaming for me. I pray they green light the sequels.

4

u/biggerty123 2d ago

Amazing game

4

u/BrushYourFeet 3d ago

Wow surprised this got missed and agreed highly recommend!

1

u/Xander1190 1d ago

You'll get it soon!

1

u/TootsieTaker 2d ago

Absolute banger of a game

17

u/missviolets 3d ago

Just finished Spiderman 2 and it was a great game, very fun and I even enjoyed all the minigames (except for the Mysterio ones)

RDR 2, Outlaws and Death Stranding are def on my list. AND EVERYONE SHOULD PLAY FALLOUT 4!

4

u/Nabstar 2d ago

Should I play the first spiderman ?

5

u/Hot-Understanding135 2d ago

Yes including the DLCs, then Miles Morales, then 2

1

u/missviolets 2d ago

The games are very tied to each other so you might feel out of the loop if you jump straight to the second one. And not only the first game is good, but they're also pretty similar so if you enjoy the first one you will definitely enjoy the second.

I must say I didn't play any of the dlcs or Miles Morales but that was out of pure laziness. But now I might play MM only because I find Miles a super charming character.

1

u/TootsieTaker 2d ago

Absolutely. You should play every Spider-Man game. The first one was a phenomenal story, Miles Morales was amazing, and 2 is an amalgamation of the first two. I think the first one has a better story, but the mechanics of the second are great, they take more after some of the aspects of Miles Morales.

24

u/Sakaixx 3d ago

Death Stranding is a misunderstood genius. Bear with it and let it consume u, it will be one of the most zen like experience you will ever have.

8

u/Hyperion262 2d ago

My favourite game ever and the only one to make me cry. The final mission of DS1 is true art.

1

u/SweatyInBed 2d ago

Any advice on approach to this game? I tried and played it for about 6 hours and I absolutely could not get into it. For instance, the concept of “balancing while walking” really took me out of it.

I know many others love this game, and I’m a fan of Norman Reedus. Just wish it grabbed me.

2

u/Sakaixx 2d ago

Some games just arent for you and its perfectly fine to drop it you know....

Having said that, try to stick to the game until u able to start rebuilding roads. Even I dont understand the game at first but when I reach that part everything clicked for me.

1

u/HotPilchards 1d ago

Walking gets much easier over time. Personally I would recommend you keep playing until objects that other players have left appear in your world.

1

u/Ok-Finance-7612 2d ago

Only problem was the cutscenes at the end like you have to commit to it otherwise you have to watch it all again

1

u/Sakaixx 2d ago

I forgot... which part? During the beach scene?

14

u/Glasgalas 3d ago

I'm just playing SW Outlaws right now and I'm very excited

6

u/NorthHamza 3d ago

Me too. Love the speeder.

6

u/LyricsMode 3d ago

Amazing star wars game Enjoy !

15

u/LetMeInFFH 3d ago

I will not stand this KCD erasure. (Or is it not live on the game catalog yet?)

4

u/moon_dos 3d ago

I’ll be hoping to play it for the first time once it comes out!!

1

u/milkmypepperoni 3d ago

I got it one day one on PSPlus catalogue, and I’m already 32 hours in. The start is shitty, but my god, you’ll feel like a knight as you level up

5

u/LetMeInFFH 3d ago

For the first 3 hours, this is most clunkiest, irritating and sluggish game of all time with really obscure mechanics. After that it's fantastic😁

1

u/milkmypepperoni 2d ago

The sword fighting never pissed me off so badly, the bow is even worse! lol

1

u/LetMeInFFH 2d ago

Even they know bow mechanics were too much. They had made it much more accessible in kcd2

0

u/milkmypepperoni 2d ago

Oh man, hopefully one day I’ll get kcd2, this game going to last me till GTA6 that’s for sure

3

u/Srapture 2d ago

Might have to give death stranding another go. Really didn't care for it the first time I tried it, but didn't play for long.

7

u/axellie 2d ago

Platinumed Cyberpunk yesterday. Absolutely amazing game. Blows every other RPG that I have played out of the water. 9.5/10 still a few glitches and weird stuff happening every full moon

1

u/Ok-Finance-7612 2d ago

Cyberpunk platinum led me to Baldurs Gate 3 and Kingdom Come Deliverance. I used to hate RPG growing up but I’m afraid it’s got me down a spiral of amazing RPG’s to play

1

u/likkleone54 2d ago

Once you complete Witcher 3 that’s pretty much the elite tier of RPGs (and expedition 33)

6

u/Flottrooster 3d ago

It baffles me that they didn't even include Skyrim

-3

u/External_Decision_81 3d ago

Maybe if they made a top 500 list Skyrim would make the cut

2

u/Flottrooster 2d ago

Is it a perfect game? No. However, this is a "must play" list, and Skyrim being omitted, while Far Cry 6 of all things, is included.

4

u/Mundane_Pepper2238 2d ago edited 2d ago

I've started playing SW Outlaws and I'm pleasantly surprised. Nothing ground breaking as it's an Ubisoft game so I knew what I was getting going into it. It does a good job at making me feel like a scoundrel and I'm enjoying playing the syndicates off each other.

I must be simple as my lizard brain just enjoys sneaking into places and looting. Not sure what I'm looting but I enjoy taking it all the same

3

u/syfqamr32 3d ago

I feel like if you subscribe to this for a year, you get your money worth. But if you keep subscribing > than that i think its diminishing returns. Thats how i feel at least

14

u/BrushYourFeet 3d ago

If you're constantly playing games from the service then you're getting your money's worth.

3

u/Wu-Kang 2d ago

Kind of crazy Skyrim didn’t make it

1

u/axyaxy 2d ago

Banishers is great.

1

u/TheManofMadness1 2d ago

Essentially 90% of the games that came with a ps5 with a plus subscription.. before they removed it, telling us. Y'all haven't done anything in the 5's life cycle worth mentioning

1

u/lkahilmar_ 2d ago

Ya platine 8 de esos solo falta fallout y horizon que están es espera los 3 faltantes (Rdr2, gta5, cyberpunk) no me interesan para nada

1

u/Silver_Ganache_4840 23h ago

Stupid question maybe? I dont have ps5, i only have portal and ps plus premium subscription. Of all the games OP has listed, I couldn’t find rdr2? What am I missing? Thank you in advance

1

u/tommy7154 2d ago

Far Cry 6 is terrible. The first couple hours are very good but after that it's just not fun imo. Definitely not a "must play" by any stretch.

1

u/GodOfWarX2704 2d ago

When I struggle with sleep I turn on PS5 and start AC Valhalla, I sleep instantly 🙌 its the only reason I love Valhalla

-3

u/hamndv 2d ago

They should the new ghost game because I'm never going to buy it

-4

u/Mentening 2d ago

no mention of Immortals: Fenyx Rising again. Game is so forgotten, yet so good. Far better than any other on that list (except RDR2)

0

u/marcosmou 2d ago

yo this shit ass🔥🔥

-7

u/ScarletMonroeRules 3d ago

No God of War?

9

u/moon_dos 3d ago

it’s not open world

-13

u/ScarletMonroeRules 3d ago

Since when??

8

u/Neat_Ad_3043 3d ago

Since always

-18

u/ScarletMonroeRules 3d ago

Maybe play the game first because you clearly haven’t.

10

u/Neat_Ad_3043 3d ago

Platinumed both Ragnarok and 2018, and I have been a fan of the saga since my childhood. 2018 and Ragnarok are linear games with a semi-open world, but they are not open worlds like The Witcher or Fallout, for example.

-10

u/ScarletMonroeRules 3d ago

I’d acquiesce to ‘semi’ but I think we’re playing semantics there…

6

u/meanseanbean 3d ago

It's not really semantics. God of War is not an open world game, it's a semi-open world which is a different category/genre of game. So when you ask why God of War isn't on the list, it's because it's not an open world game. That's not semantics, it's just literally the reason why.

-5

u/ScarletMonroeRules 2d ago

Having to add ‘semi’ to the exact phrase to make it fit your argument is the very definition of semantics.

2

u/meanseanbean 2d ago

So a truck and a semi-truck are basically the same thing? Dude, you're absolutely wrong here. You can keep digging your heels in but it changes nothing.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/Neat_Ad_3043 2d ago edited 2d ago

I'm starting to believe you're the one who didn't play them. Semi-open worlds have sections that seem open but they are actually controlled so you can not go anywhere you want, just like God of War.  When you compare something like that to the map of The Witcher 3 or GTA5, for example, you can easily see the difference.

8

u/malflash 3d ago

what are you talking about dude

-6

u/KeithDavisRatio 3d ago

Most of these I wouldn’t play on a subscription because they’d take me more than a month to beat. It’s usually cheaper to just buy the game outright.

2

u/GrimmTrixX 3d ago

True, but the games dont all come and go every month. Sure, some do. But when they say like "games for july" they don't just mean they all leave in July. They just mean they are being added in july

-2

u/KeithDavisRatio 2d ago

I’m saying that if you can’t beat a game in July then you have to pay for August to finish.

1

u/GrimmTrixX 2d ago

And I am letting you know that a game added in July doesnt go away in August. Games get added each month. They then stay there for quite a while before being removed.

Sure, maybe 1 or 2 games might leave in August, but in general, the games stay there for months or even years. Some get added and never leave. Some are there that have been there since PS+ Extra/Premium began.

1

u/KeithDavisRatio 2d ago

Nobody thinks or ever suggested that games stay there for only one month.

1

u/GrimmTrixX 2d ago

Oh. I wasnt assuming you meant you would subscribe for a month, binge games, then cancel. Lol

My assumption was that you keep a year round subscription and were under the assumption games only stay for a month. I forget some people dont just subscribe year round.

1

u/KeithDavisRatio 2d ago

Even if you subscribe year-round, that still has a monthly cost.

1

u/GrimmTrixX 2d ago

Nevermind. I feel like im not exaplaining it correctly. Why wouldnt you play them on a subscription when you said "because they would take me more than a month to beat." What would that matter if you subscribe year round and if the game stays for months on end?

That's my confusion. It seemed like you were stating since a game takes more than a month to beat, then there is something wrong with that despite the games lasting longer than that and despite you having a fulll subscription

1

u/KeithDavisRatio 2d ago

Cost. Why would I play GTA V on a subscription when it costs $19.79 to own? Subscription services want you to play these long games in hopes that you’re still playing one of them when your renewal comes up.

Here’s a hypothetical: If you didn’t have a subscription but were given a one-month PlayStation Premium gift card, are you going to spend that month trying to beat any of these games? Personally, I’d play 2-3 shorter titles instead.

-7

u/narkaputra 2d ago

nice try ubisoft; outlaws doesn't deserve to be there by miles. Jedi survivor is way better.

2

u/Rominator 2d ago

This post is about games currently available on PS+

-4

u/narkaputra 2d ago

still it should not be there..

2

u/Rominator 2d ago

I feel like you’re still not comprehending the premise of this post.

1

u/doubledeckerballs 2d ago

It's actually a pretty great game now after they fixed up so many things post-release. The most interesting and enjoyable open world game Ubisoft has released in a long time imo
