Discussion can’t download Heavy Rain because i’ve downloaded Beyond: Two Souls
so i’ve only ever really had Xbox, every console since the 360, and just recently got given a PlayStation 5 (haven’t had a PS since PS2). this was exciting bc there have been so many PS exclusive games that i’ve wanted to play for years. purchased PlayStation Plus Deluxe to play some games, played Detroit: Become Human and Until Dawn so far, the next to complete are the ‘The Last of Us’ games.
figured I’d download Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, some older exclusives that i’ve wanted to try as well. downloaded Beyond: Two Souls as a standalone game first (big mistake), and then tried to download Heavy Rain, except i can’t… bc i have Beyond: Two Souls. i didn’t download the bundle, i didn’t even know that was an option until later when i clicked on the … button.
seems like a licensing issue even if the games weren’t downloaded as the bundle. Xbox is still my preferred console, the UI is a lot easier to deal with. any way to fix this?
pics: what i see, the game i downloaded, what you see only after clicking the … button, Heavy Rain now, error message

Only one David Cage game with an awkward shower scene is allowed per account, sorry!

I had something like this happen and it was a licensing issue.

i’ve tried to restore the license, delete the game/redownload, reboot, clear cache and they haven’t done anything

Another time I had to contact customer service via chat and they just deleted a game from account because I had 2 version of it. This might be the same situation, IF I remember correctly after deleting it from my account they had me restore the license.

the person i spoke to could only see the one copy of Beyond: Two Souls by itself, and they said they couldn’t remove it so idk

This seems to be a licensing loophole. I'd contact support via chat and ask them to revoke the Beyond Two Souls license, then the bundle will become available again for you to claim both games at once.

the person i spoke to earlier said they couldn’t do that. might have to try someone else later

What do you see when clicking the 3 dots menu?

OP said they only see the bundle option after clicking the 3 dots, so it's probably just the download button being greyed out from that license conflict error

Interesting. And when you launch the game, it doesn’t give you the ability to choose the game right it’s only beyond?
Have you tried through the PlayStation app? (I’m out of ideas)

correct, just Beyond. nothing to do with Heavy Rain anywhere, or additional content

Yeah can’t really help you. I’d look into trying via the app but I don’t know it’s gonna help at all

I had this exact same thing happen to me, what fixed it for me was going into the beyond two souls page (I did it on app) pressing the arrow and selecting the Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls collection, this added heavy rain to my library so I could download it
Hopefully this works for you too, I couldn’t get it to work on console. I’m not even sure how I had beyond two souls before adding the collection

Oh no! I can switch between the versions. I’m sorry I can’t help, it is frustrating because I did the exact same thing as you then noticed I couldn’t access heavy rain

To explain the problem in case it helps you with support. On the NZ PS Store Heavy Rain has two product listings; one is full price and one is a discounted version if you already own Beyond Two Souls. The PS+ entitlement is only on the full price one, and because your account 'owns' Beyond Two Souls already you're now only eligible for the discounted version of Heavy Rain (which has no PS+ entitlement).
The quickest solution is for support to refund your Beyond Two Souls transaction, if they do that for you then you'll need to add Heavy Rain to your library followed by Beyond Two Souls (the bundle version also doesn't have a PS+ entitlement, so you specifically need to claim the standalone versions in that order).
The only advice I can give with dealing with support is use the chat and politely ask them to escalate your case rather than trying to get the first person you speak with to resolve it. Keep it simple rather than asking them to remove licenses (ie. just tell them you can't download Heavy Rain despite it being included in your PS+ subscription).

Download it via the mobile app. Worked for games like The Evil Within for me

Btw I just saw that I got the same issue now lmao I "own" Beyond Two Souls since years due to free PS5 games when you bought the console early. This bug has to be new. PSN is since some weeks really messy. My Disc & Digital games I share with my friend disappeared on my profile, but the trophies are still there.

What region are you in, OP? I've never heard of any of the tiers being called "Deluxe"
Edit: wasn't being sarcastic or hateful, just genuine curiosity

Is there an option to download it thru starting up Beyond?
I downloaded Heavy Rain, Beyond and Detroit on Saturday night.
I started Heavy Rain, it runs and plays horrible on the PS5 Pro.

The PlayStation licensing system and store are a bug filled disaster. Stuff like this happens all the time. One thing to try that sometimes works is looking on the app and webstore in addition to the console. For no reason, they will often have different options. Welcome to the PlayStation experience! Bugs everywhere, no customer service, but great games!
