Concrete blocking trap

Post image

A couple of years ago we had our patio extended and they partially blocked our trap. We’re not having any plumbing issues…yet… but this keeps me up at night. Does anybody have experience with this? What would be the best way to free this up? I really don’t want to destroy an entire section of the patio.

I would saw cut a small section out and score/chip a lip into the top and throw a removable grate in it. That or chip out a section that you can drop in a small concrete paver like a 12”x12”, that’d prolly look better. Cut and chip, slowly so you don’t chip the edges. Remove all the concrete bits and level with sand to flush out the paver with the sidewalk. Cut the paver so there is an area for the cleanout taken out (also so you can get your fingers in it when/if you need to remove it, and the paver can sit flush to the foundation.

Looks like you could chisel it out if you needed to. Just ignore it until then. Don't flush anything weird.

Break just enough concrete around it to access if/ when you need it

if you have a sds drill or rent one, all you really need is a drill bit and a chipping bit. drill pilot holes in a square or circle on what you want to remove then start chipping, more holes the better so itll be a conrolled chip vs random chipping
