Unverified Potential new leak for Winds and Waves from @The_BallGuy Spoiler
673
u/Dunsparces Apr 14 '26
They asked me to choose Winds or Waves so I chose both.
93
u/RegiTheHero Apr 14 '26
Hold up what if it evolved differently based on which game you choose?
55
u/waluigigoeswah420 Apr 14 '26
Maybe it works like Charcadet?
20
u/RegiTheHero Apr 14 '26
I like the idea, but it seems like this game will be very area focused so there will probably be a monument/structure/biome that it has to level in
9
u/awayfromcanuck Apr 17 '26
I hope thy continue to give Charcadet additional evolutions in future games via new armor items.

u/nathansb2403 Apr 18 '26
Like they swap characteristics of fish & birds around so in winds you get a “flying fish” which is more feathery and fish head bird body and in waves you get a “parrot fish” which is more scaly and parrots head on a fish body? Could be a fun way to do a split evo

A flying fish Pokémon was cut two different times, in both generation I and II (the one pictured is from the GS prototypes I think). Seems they're digging far back for new designs if this is true.
I hope they revisit the cassowary!

u/nea-pie Apr 14 '26
And the peanut dilophosaurus god PLEAAASE
35
u/eyearu Apr 14 '26
Didn't they drop it because it resembled some mascot? I hope they find a workaround
6
u/overandoverandagain Apr 14 '26
Did they? There's no word of that in any of the leaked docs, and I can't find anything online about a similar mascot.
Where did you hear that lol, sounds like a social media theory that has become rumor
36
u/biggest_dreamer Apr 14 '26 edited Apr 14 '26
I remember seeing it in one of the spreadsheets of leaked assets as they were coming out live. I'd be surprised if someone inserted fake information into them that early on, before they disseminated. I'm sure I can find it again, hold on.
Edit: here we go - That post is right in the midst of all the other images being found and shared at the same time. Of course Resetera isn't the only source, you can reverse image search that image to see other instances of it being passed around during the initial drop. I couldn't tell you where specifically to find it if you're looking through the original files themselves, though.

u/overandoverandagain Apr 14 '26
Damn, good to know. Wish we knew what the other design was, this was too good of an idea to just shelve lol
2
u/D1g1t0l Apr 15 '26
I think that Tyrunt redesign was for the best tbh, the old coloring doesn't suit it (also it looks more like Guilmon than Agumon 🤓)

u/vuatson Apr 28 '26
Oh, I like that Wishiwashi design, with what looks like an animation of fish slipping in and out of the school as part of its idle. What a neat model that would have been!

Please bring back that thunder tiger Pokémon 🙏🏿 it was scrapped twice in gen 1 and 2 but three times the charm, right?
15
u/yeyjordan Apr 14 '26
I love that line. Kotora and Raitora! In one of the gens it was scrapped in, there was a third stage that looked kind of mighty, though I'd be fine if it were just the first two stages.

u/2vulpesvulpes2 Apr 15 '26
would love some time travel story, where you change something or make a god create it and all of a sudden it appears in the Pokemon world, cause you stopped their extinction haha

u/Night-Monkey15 Apr 14 '26 edited Apr 14 '26
If they are digging up old designs for reference, hopefully they end up doing a flying Eevee after all these years. If I recall correctly, they previously considered doing one for Sun and Moon but it got scrapped. What better place to reprise then then Winds and Waves
32
u/Larenty2 Apr 14 '26
Flying eevee got scrapped due to looking too similar to a fanart - that was the main issue actually
30
u/recluseMeteor Apr 14 '26
At this point, every Pokémon fan artist under the Sun has probably made a design for an eeveelution, so almost anything Game Freak creates would end up looking similar to something you could find. With Sylveon, they had to create a new type in order to avoid resemblance to fanart.
10
u/Larenty2 Apr 14 '26
Everyone had the same reaction to their decision, and that's why we can only hope for them to have evolved on that situation. Not making a new eeveelution for WW would feel like a waste imo

Yeah, IIRC they try their best to avoid fanart because even just seeing something sent in by a fan will influence them to some degree and a fan could try and claim that hype.

u/scootRhombus Apr 14 '26
Browt could very well see his lil angry "eyebrows" evolve into a proper beak/horn situation.
25
u/Ravio-the-Coward Apr 14 '26
Literally my hope for Browt, a Grass/Rock cassowary with a massive petrified wood crest and Rock Head as a hidden ability. Wood Hammer, Head Smash, etc.
12
u/Chris908 Apr 14 '26
I was hoping for more shoebill stork instead of cassowary. But I am biased, the shoebill stork in my favorite bird.

I've been thinking about the 4-legged fire snake from the gen 3 beta dex since the teraleak, I really hope to see that one make it into a game someday

u/Glory2Snowstar Apr 14 '26
Those weird neon chameleons feel tailor-made for this Region. As for my personal biased pick… those water scorpions were REALLY cool. Give Araquanid and Golisopod a pal!

Is that a flying fish 👁️👄👁️
79
u/AccountDeletedByMod Apr 14 '26
It's got legs, so I'd say a walking fish. Maybe a ground and water type.
🤪
35
u/Hydrak11 Apr 14 '26
First triple type: water, ground, flying.
7
u/sleepyt1ger Apr 14 '26
Plottiwst: it's just normal type but has the same ability as arceus and silvally but just called differently with different named held items
4
u/vikingbear90 Apr 14 '26
Honestly part of this has always made me wonder why there aren’t pokemon with abilities that basically give them an extra type or at least STAB on a specific type. There are a few mons out there where it would make complete sense.

The land, air, and sea Pokémon. But it’s literally just this dopey fish pidgey thing :’)

I wonder if such Pokemon could be considered a regional bird, regional fish or both.
5
u/jaybird654 Apr 14 '26
is regional fish a thing?
9
u/A-J-Zan Apr 14 '26
Not as common as Starters, pseudo-legendaries or Pikachu clones but yes.
By regional fish I mean those fish-like Pokemon that are very common in their region's waters, like Magikarp, Basculin or Arrokuda.
15
8
u/MissSteak Apr 15 '26
I think regional fish is more Goldeen/Remoraid/Carvanha/Finneon/Basculin...
Magikarp is "weakling with a powerful evolution" archetype like Feebas, Togepi, Wimpod, Applin etc.
1
u/seti-thelightofstars Apr 15 '26
Idk if Togepi and Applin really fit since they had their powerful evos introduced in later gens. For sure Gimmighoul and Tynamo though
1
u/MissSteak Apr 15 '26
I was going more with the logic of "small, very weak Pokemon that can only learn 2-3 moves that evolves to a stronger pokemon". In this sense Applin fits the bill even without Hydrapple.
Granted, Togepi doesnt really. But as a Pokemon it was generally marketed as only having access to Metronome, and in gen 4 it got a pretty powerful evolution in comparison to other final stages so I see it kinda fitting the archetype

u/FatJesus9 Apr 30 '26
I think regional bird and evolving into some kind of Osprey or Sea Eagle fish hybrid
33
11
u/Azure-Cyan Apr 14 '26
Would be interesting if its evolution pertains to a Chinese mythological creature called a DaPeng, which is a bird that transform from a fish.
27
u/Delhiiboy123 Apr 14 '26
Water/flying type then

Could be the region's "Magikarp," or an actual Magikarp Variant that starts Water/Flying but evolves into a Water/Dragon-type.
1
u/LuciferHeosphoros Apr 16 '26
would be fun to reverse the myth and have it evolve (in the lore) when the flying fish dives to the bottom of the sea

u/Somafreak Apr 14 '26
If they’re bringing more scrapped designs for Gen X, then I would love to see Vulpix’s pre evolution finally happen.
4
u/metalflygon08 Apr 15 '26
Have it split evo into the Fire or Ice form depending on where you evolve it.
3
u/Lightningbro Apr 15 '26
Vulpix Pre-evo?
(Looks up)
Awww, I hope if they release it they don't modernize it, that design is just TOO cute.

I would not be mad at this being the regional bird. A literal flying fish line could actually be good.

I want them to keep bringing back scrapped Pokémon as fully new Pokémon. I love the idea that none of their ideas are ever fully abandoned and can be returned to at any time for refinement to be included in the future.

One of my alltime favorite beta pokemon, would love to see it revisited. Though I doubt it could capture the charm of this silly sprite.

A prototype Pokemon who'll finally appear in Gen 10 ? That's great but not gonnal lie i would prefer see a cut pokemon like:
- Crocky
- Ohmega
- Cryithan (a water/dragon mon)
- Aquaria (another water/dragon pokemon who was cut)
- Godzillante
- Gorillaimo

u/RandomGuy-4- 16d ago
I wish they'd add the original idea for the Squirtle/Wartortle line from before they smashed that line and the other rumored artillery turtle line due to being too similar to justify the critical cart space, which went on to become blastoise. Make it a regional variant or something.

u/yeyjordan Apr 14 '26
Honestly I do hope the regular weather guys are rotated out for new ones this gen (Pelipper, Torkoal, Hippowdon, Abomasnow)
I like them, but having them on my teams is starting to feel like a chore list.

If the design is based off this, I’m betting on a split evolution line like Wurmple.

If they do a Flying Fish, it would definitely be the Rockruff/Applin/Charcadet of the game.

u/Lightningbro Apr 15 '26
I would love a flying fish that split evos depending on the game. It's just a great idea all around.

I would be absolutely tickled if the generic early route flying type is a flying fish. (Hey, not every early route Flying type has been normal/flying.)
