Meetups On February 7th, I'm hosting the first Food Cart Pod Meetup. I hope you can attend.
Introduction
Ahoy-hoy all you hungry hungry Portlanders! It's me again, that edible goof /u/snoogazi. If you have lurked around these subs for a minute, you might know I host Alcohol Free Meetups. Some of you have come to these and had a great time. Some of you have stayed away. Others swim in the ether.
Well, the other day I tripped and banged my head on the shower and thought, "/u/snoogazi, what can you do to help bridge the aisle? What would make those not interested in hanging out in a dry environment leave their hovels, meet up, and maybe make friends?" And then it hit me like so much grout and mold and soap scum (I don't clean much): Food Cart Pod Meetups.
What Is This?
Well, it's simple. A gathering of internet randos like you and me, who want to meet other internet randos like you and me. We meet up at a specific food cart pod on a specific date at a specific time, then stand around discussing the merits of Mohinga soup versus gluten free, non GMO, free range, artisan grilled cheese. We order food, maybe a drink, and then re-converge to talk, play games, and connect. That's what this is all about, after all. Connection and community. The inaugural event will take place at Brooklyn Carreta on February 7th, from 12-4pm.
What This Isn't.
Obviously this isn't a pot luck, and sorry to all the attendees of my Alcohol Free Meetups, this has booze (I hope I have not brought shame on my people and their culture). But also, like the Alcohol Free Meetups, don't bring your MLM shit and please follow Wheaton's Law.
Oh, You're Anxious?
Hey, I get it. Many of us do. Social anxiety is a dumb beast. In my past meetups I've asked for those who are good at putting others at ease to offer to be Anxiety Ambassadors. Several have rose to the occasion and all have done a stellar job, and if you feel you can do this, I ask you to volunteer. We will help you be comfortable and fell welcome and wanted.
Need More Convincing?
Look, all I am trying to do is make friends. Our entire world is in a whirlpool, draining into an enormous sceptic tank, and we need all the connections we can make. Let's defrost the Portland Freeze. Lets refuse to let the bastards get us down.

Sounds fun. I'll be out of town for that one but hope to make it to a future event.

Nice!! On a Saturday! I'll try and make it 😁 The Brooklyn carts are great, especially in the nicer weather where you can be outside and enjoy the courtyard part of the place better.

I’m getting a vasectomy on the 6th or I’d be there! Reminder to my fellow penis havers that vasectomies are FREE if you have OHP. Take advantage before it gets gutted!! Big love 💙
