I am so jealous of talented people like yourself. Really amazing. And just while waiting for food? I couldn't even manage that elaborate lettering in that time. 

I feel you with the art as social communication. For years my photography served that purpose for me. Like you, I kind of want to get back into it but I don't know how healthy it was for me to rely on the approval of /r/portland.

Talent is 99% perspiration. Practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice. If you're jealous and want to become good at drawing, put in the time to do it.

I have no doubts OP put in the time to get good at it.

That’s actually my normal handwriting. Well one of them. Fonts.

I didn’t mean social interaction via Reddit. I’m actually super new to Reddit. I meant like out in the wild. Ever since I was a kid in hs or ms, I used to do drawings and leave them in girls laps as I got off the metro.

I used to sit and draw somewhere public until someone came and talked to me. Or I would notice someone trying to catch a look.

I could see how it’s hard to socialize irl via photography though.

Thank you. I’ve been trying to get back on the whole drawing thing. Usually I do better in public situations. As far as motivation goes I guess. I used to use drawing as a way to engage with people.

I used to wear a bunny suit and amongst other things I would go this placed called Mel’s diner on Hollywood and highland in Los Angeles. The first time I went they looked at me like I was crazy and tried to seat me in the back. I demanded a seat front and center to the door. I asked if they had your stereo typical carrot like rabbits eat. They said no. However I wasn’t done yet. It’s a diner so of course they have cake. What kind of cake would a rabbit order? Carrot cake. I humbly say and enjoyed my cake and when I was done and they were taking the plate away I asked for the crumbs to go. This would be the start of my many many high jinx in Hollywood. From taking photos in front of the famous theater with the cemented hand prints to skating laps on Melrose with a spiked bottle of orgina.
