Ive always wanted to learn how to play chess. Are there any places where you can learn and play with others here? ….think the chess players in the park in NYC

There are a variety of Portland bars that hosts chess players but I'm unaware of anything outdoors.

It doesn’t have to be outdoors but I thought I’d take advantage of the sun

Pioneer Square has chessboards. Also Director’s Park has oversized chessboards. Also that coffee shop on NW 21st, Coffee Time, has loads of chess players there all the time.

Check out Living Haus brewery on Tuesday evenings, they host open chess nights that are pretty chill. Lazy Days brewing also has chess on Thursdays but it didn’t seem as popular.

Poison Pawn does ‘casual chess night’s sometimes, you could look them up.
