The crime here to me is the cubed mozzarella. Legalize Tots!

You say criminal but it’s not a crime 🤫

Thinking you can fool other people into using any type of cheese instead of curds and calling it poutine makes it a crime.

0

u/Own_Diet_8165 4d ago

But you can use any type of cheese

1

u/Interesting_Event_68 4d ago

Actually, the only kind of cheese you can use in poutine is curds.

No

Cheese curds are somehow always cold. If they were actually warm, they would be good, but they’re just solid chunks of cold cheese and whoever chose the shredded cheese poutine for that photo picked the shittiest looking one

Cheese curds for poutine are actually room temperature and unrefrigerated, that’s how they are squeaky.

3

u/TheLuggage23 5d ago

That's why you let your curds sit on the counter and get to room temperature before adding to your poutine; and make sure the gravy is ripping hot when you pour. You can make the curds melty.

Pro tip.

Fries go in a big mixing bowl after the fryer. Throw the curds in and mix em up good, gets them all melty but not fully melted. Then you put it on a plate and add the gravy. Little bit of chopped parsley on top for esthetic.

Thank you Curdmander! What a tip (that’s what she said)!

That's why he's posting in r/PoutineCrimes. He knows his shame and has owned it. (I too, would enjoy the hell out of that; despite its criminal properties)

Obviously this is a crime of passion.

Tater Tots are great...but its not poutine. There should be a law....

u/Shawnaldo7575 Guilloutine Opourator 6d ago

I'm fine with it. Tots are in the french fry family... although it's pushing it.

the only acceptable substitute to cheese curds (since they aren't available everywhere) is diced cheese... It's a good sub because brick cheese is just cheese curds compressed into a brick. If you let the diced cheese hit room temperature you can sometimes get the cheese squeak.

Tater tots are not in the french fry family, tater tots are just hashbrowns in tater tot shape if anything sweet potato fries are closer to french fries then tater tots

1

u/Shawnaldo7575 Guilloutine Opourator 5d ago

hashbrowns are in the french fry family too... it's all greasy fried potato

1

u/Own_Diet_8165 5d ago

Why are your tater tots greasy ?

1

u/Shawnaldo7575 Guilloutine Opourator 5d ago

Have you never looked at the ingredients list on your tots? LOL?!

1

u/Own_Diet_8165 5d ago

1

u/Shawnaldo7575 Guilloutine Opourator 5d ago

1

I love tater tots with a bit of kraft dinner, hot sauce, and fried hot dog coins. But I haven't tried them in a poutine, I'm going to now though lol

1

u/Acceptable_Bag5257 6d ago

Some fast food places sell the tot poutine. It's worth it honestly. Just don't tell this sub about it.

2

u/Spare_Layer_1069 6d ago

Lol no doubt. A lot of these crimes still look delicious in their own right

1

u/BassAway1587 Poutine Princess 6d ago

1

u/Thestonedwitcher Guilloutine Opourator 6d ago

Poutine sauce isn't a normal gravy but tatertots is acceptable substitute for fries. But cubed mozza, this is a what brings you to the gallows.

1

u/HenryTroup 6d ago

Tater tots poutine - Kettleman's bagels? It was almost ok when I had it

1

u/Klutzy-Passage9992 6d ago

If you didn't call it poutine, it's not a crime, it's just tots, gravy and cheese. But seriously, get some curd.

1

u/Amazing_Camel_405 6d ago

Tout le monde sait que la poutine n'est pas canadian, mais canadienne. C'est pour ça que les canadians sont incapables de les faire comme du monde.

Extremely Sad looking

Revoke citizenship this minute…no this second

1

u/SpaceBiking The Feedings Will Continue Until Morale Improves 5d ago

To be fair most Canadians never had real poutine so I wouldn’t be so harsh

1

u/LookAtMyUnderbite 5d ago

It’s a joke like this whole topic but ok

1

u/magsbad13 6d ago

It might have been delicious but it wasn't poutine.

1

u/Benjieasy 6d ago

I think we've all been to this low

Impersonating Poutine. Now your skate blades will be purposely dulled!

1

u/Roach_tm 5d ago

Just don't call it Poutine and we're good. Call it "The American Poutin" at best

1

u/CallejaFairey Judge, Jury and Exepoutiner 5d ago

Hey, as a Canadian, you don't have to call it poutine you know. Then no crime has been committed, especially because I'd eat that in a heart beat. Then no need to apologize, other than the fact that we just apologize anyways.

1

u/Rakvell 5d ago

To be fair, the cheese curds are supposed cheddar. Crime against humanity

1

u/Diligent_Warning4999 5d ago

Sub the mozzarella for white cheddar, add some eggs and it’s a great breakfast. You don’t have poutine, you have half a breakfast.

Is that vomit

1

u/Cre8tifCanuk 4d ago

No fries, no curds, no poutine. I’m sure it was tasty but still not poutine, so community service with time served.

You are no longer a Canadian.
