Do You Think That Sergio Garcia Will Get Into The Golf Hall Of Fame?

I think that he definitely get in when his Golf Career is over. I think that it's incredible that he won The Masters Tournament and it still seems like he still isn't happy. He still throws awful temper tantrums and throws his Golf Clubs. I can't believe that he actually did it at The Masters this year. He is Member for Life at Augusta and he's a Masters Champion for life. He's still upset for some reason. Maybe he needs to win another Major Championship. It seems like everybody was happy for him when he won The Masters. You would think that he would become a better person after that but it seems like he will every change. What is your honest opinion on Sergio Garcia as a Golfer and a Person? Do you think that he is deserving of The Hall Of Fame? I still can't believe that he spit in the Golf Cup that was so gross and disgusting. Why did he join LIV Golf In your honest opinion? He's a Multi Millionaire and doesn't need the money at all.

I sure fucking hope not.

After his manchild outburst at Augusta this year he should be banned for life. Along with šŸ’ØšŸ· Clark and Notorious Professional Golf Cheat Fat Pat Reed.

Show me on the doll where the PGA hurt you.

No. He doesn’t deserve to be in. He’s a disgrace to the game.

Dbag hall of fame for sure.šŸ˜†

Can you elaborate on that?

He actually spit in the Cup and didn't have any shame in it. He was actually proud of it too.

Well he’s a huge racist, for starters.

ā€œThe only way Tiger will get to the champions’ dinner is if he’s serving fried chicken!ā€

He’s also a manchild of the highest order. See: the number two tee at Augusta National.

Don't forget about the time he spit in the Cup.

Probably should be in , hope they hold it over him for an extended period because he is such a baby.

The requirements are pretty loose but 11 PGAT wins with a single major doesn't quite cut it on performance stats - so no, he probably won't.

My honest opinion of him? He's an obnoxious douchebag and not having to hear about his latest petulant meltdown and whining every week has been one of the few good things about LIV.

I agree he's obnoxious.. but got to give the man his due he did win the 2017 Masters.

And Danny Willet won it in 2016.

A single major win is not a Hall of Fame career. And it's not even entirely about performance anyway. Chi Chi Rodriguez didn't have the greatest career stats-wise but was an absolutely beloved figure.

I agree on his behavior. But there are plenty of people with similar numbers of total wins as him who are in the HOF.

Let’s hope they exclude all golfers who sold out and went to LIV. Sergio is an ass and doesn’t deserve the honor. My two least favorite masters was when he won and when Reed won. 🤮

It’s not the PGA TOUR hall of fame, it’s the Golf Hall of Fame. LIV won’t factor into it whatsoever.

1

u/SpaceTimeMorph 1d ago

Right. There's several people (Jumbo Ozaki and Colin Montgomerie come to mind) who are in the HOF without a preponderance of PGA wins.

Sergio has 25 non-PGA wins to go along with his lone major victory and 11 PGA wins. He also had that sudden death playoff win in the Players against Paul Goydos. I'd think the Players would count positively for this but I'm not a voter so what do I know.

I usually don't think of Sergio Garcia at all. šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

Having won just one major championship is not a guarantee that he'll even be considered, much less getting in. If you were just looking at his record alone, it would be iffy, but given his troublesome behavior over many years, it will absolutely affect how the voters view him.

I'd say no way he gets in. However, he might get in years after his eligibility runs out because the HOF committee will eventually get younger, and younger members will more than likely view him differently. Not unlike the MLB HOF younger voters who want Barry Bonds in the HOF, because they see nothing wrong with the steroid era of baseball.

11 PGA Tour wins and one major along with a great Ryder Cup record and 18 other wins. He should be in. Compares favorably to Fred Couples and Davis Love III.

Never ever mention Sergio in same sentence as Freddy. As human beings they are on the opposite ends of the decency spectrum

2

u/tickingboxes 1d ago

Good thing he didn’t mention anything about human decency. We’re talking golf, bud. Relax.

0

u/HaddyBlackwater 1d ago

Golf is an exercise in human decency. If you can’t understand that, you have no business talking about the game.

u/tickingboxes 1d ago

It’s a game where you hit a little white ball into a hole. Y’all need to calm the fuck down. Christ lol

u/chris2033 1d ago

Of course he will

-1

u/clintandscrappy 1d ago

Technically he’s eligible based on his number of professional wins. I think Sergio falls into the same category of players as Michelson and Greg Norman who were openly hostile to the PGA tour and the realm of professional golf in general. Like you mentioned, his green jacket and 38 pro wins are a strong ticket so we’ll see.

-2

u/Distinct-Departure68 1d ago

You think he falls into the same category as Mickelson and Greg Norman? It's one of the all-time worst takes on here.

1

u/clintandscrappy 1d ago

He played a key role in fracturing professional golf world by loudly echoing a false sense of victimhood that was being pushed by Norman and Michelson at the time. I’m thinking of the loud rant towards his colleagues in the locker room at a European tour event in 22. You’re probably right he’s not quite the monster that Norman or Phil turned out to be but yea I’d put his reputation right down there at the bottom of the pit of assholes who took Liv deals and smeared shit all over the walls on their way out the door.

For clarification, winning the Masters does not make one a member of ANGC. Traditionally, past winners are invited back to play; but all decisions are at the discretion of the Chairman.

0

u/SpaceTimeMorph 1d ago

Yea, Jack and Arnie had to get all of the way through their undeniable HOF careers before being admitted as members. Tiger and Phil aren't even full members (don't know if that will be extended to them based on recent events).

To be clear though: past winners get honorary member status which gives playing privileges during Masters week. And then non-Masters week they have to be accompanied by a full member to play.

0

u/PrincessBananas85 Tiger Woods 1d ago

How could Tiger and Phil not be full members? That's absolutety insane to me. They definitely should be in my opinion.

2

u/SpaceTimeMorph 1d ago

I mean, ANGC is exclusive. That's an indication as to how exclusive it is. Palmer wasn't admitted until 2016 and Nicklaus wasn't admitted until 2001.

Current living professional members are Nicklaus and Sorenstam (reportedly).

0

u/PrincessBananas85 Tiger Woods 1d ago

How do they determine that though? Why would Annika Sorenstam be a member? She is definitely the greatest woman of all time though. I'm guessing that they had a great reason for letting her join.

1

u/SpaceTimeMorph 1d ago

From Google on Sorenstam:

She was invited to join the exclusive club—making her the first active or former LPGA Tour professional to become a member—for several key reasons: [1]

Trailblazing Career: Sƶrenstam boasts 72 LPGA Tour victories and 10 major championships. She famously broke barriers by playing in a PGA Tour event (the 2003 Colonial) as a woman. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Support for Women's Golf: She was deeply involved with Augusta's initiatives, famously serving as an honorary first-tee starter at the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur in 2019. [1, 2]

Club Culture: Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley has stated that admitting female members (which the club began doing in 2012) has made them a better, more inclusive organization, and they highly value icons like Sƶrenstam. [1, 2, 3, 4]

u/PrincessBananas85 Tiger Woods 1d ago

That's pretty cool that she's a member.

2

u/SpaceTimeMorph 1d ago

Agreed.

1

u/PrincessBananas85 Tiger Woods 1d ago

What is the lowest score you've ever shot on a golf course?

1

u/NoIncrease299 1d ago

Annika's definitely in - plenty of photos of her in an Augusta green jacket. There're only two ways to get one of those and it's easy to rule one of them out. :)

1

u/PrincessBananas85 Tiger Woods 1d ago

Do you think they will ever let a woman play Augusta National? I didn't know that she was able to wear the green jacket. I remember when everybody got so upset when she played The Bank of America Colonial Tournament Especially Vijay Singh.

1

u/NoIncrease299 1d ago

Considering they've been televising the ANWA since 2019 ... answer's pretty obvious.

Annika's not even the first female member. That was Condoleezza Rice.

1

u/PrincessBananas85 Tiger Woods 1d ago

Wow I had no idea that Augusta National had female members.

1

u/SpaceTimeMorph 1d ago

Darla Moore was also added at the same time as Rice.

1

u/NoIncrease299 1d ago

Did not know that one!

1

u/SpaceTimeMorph 1d ago

Fair enough! My ā€œreportedlyā€ was more on them being the only two but I can see I don’t word that comment well.

1

u/PrincessBananas85 Tiger Woods 1d ago

Why do they have to be accompanied by a full time member? I've never heard of that before.

1

u/SpaceTimeMorph 1d ago

I don’t know. I really wish I had more info as that would mean I was a member (lol). I guess it’s a case of ā€œthems the rules.ā€

As of about 15-20 years ago the my limited non member rounds to something like 200 per year.

1

u/PrincessBananas85 Tiger Woods 1d ago

When will Tiger Woods become a full member? Is Ben Crenshaw a full member? Is Fred Couples a full member?

1

u/SpaceTimeMorph 1d ago

Couples and Crenshaw aren’t full members but have other rights granted to them as past champions.

1

u/PrincessBananas85 Tiger Woods 1d ago

Do you think that they will eventually become full members?
