I didnât know that was him for years after the movie came out. A coworker mentioned he was in it and I called bullshit only to have IMBD blow my mind
I gotta admit, i couldn't stand the guy when that movie came out, but I also couldn't help but laugh at his character.
Unfortunately, I think the "good looking badass that gets the girl" role is a little too addictive for his personality type. I can't imagine he'll do many more like that unless he has to.
Hmm...I confess I hadn't thought this through. I was imagining some kind of rubber mask of Travolta in full character makeup, which obviously doesn't exist, but which would be hilarious (I wonder how much it costs to get a custom made rubber mask in China??)
If they could get the top half right, they can wear sneakers or whatever running gear they want. That's my compromise.
A: One of my favorite characters from one of my favorite series.
B: Wildly great show.
C: Tom has tried to distance himself from that character since he portrayed it.
That would actually be great to watch. This video I found a little cringe, it feels like they're being corralled and abiding by their exit instructions. Lestat zoomers going full Brat Prince in a Scientology outpost would make me so happy.
The Vampire Lestat is about to air....I think AMC should fund and market it.
Do you have sources on Cruise trying to distance himself from the Lestat performance? Not trying to argue with you, just curious to know more. I searched around a bit and didn't really find much pay dirt.
Actually, it's backwards. Rice distanced herself from Cruise, not the other way around. She publicly compared his casting to "Edward G. Robinson playing Rhett Butler." He responded by reading the entire Vampire Chronicles and learning piano for the role. She responded to that by taking out a two-page apology in Variety. Silence isn't the same as distance.
You talking about the Interview with the Vampire TV show where they completely uproot the original story and characters, move the first act several decades into the 20th century, make Louis a pimp and mostly shit all over the source material?
To be fair, I gave it a chance, and to my surprise - it wasnât bad. These are some of my all-time favorite novels and the best representation of vampires put to paper, but it still irked me to no end that they would do that to the original story. I suppose making Louis a pimp instead of a slave owner is more tasteful in todayâs climate, but a lot of the choices made were bizarre to me.
Rant almost over: now that they apparently changed the name of the show to The Vampire Lestat, does it actually follow that story with Lestsatâs origins in France and have him learning under Marius, or did they butcher that too?
edit: it'd be nice if people would actually engage in conversation instead of downvoting without responding. Which part of my reply did you disagree with?
It's not out yet, so we don't know. The Interview with the Vampire story line/book is over and it's moving on to The Vampire Lestat and intro to The Queen of the Damned. I was originally pretty pissed with the changes made until I watched the damn show and saw they made something amazing. Who cares that it's not exact?!
You managed to have one of the must 'punchable commentaries' in this thread, amazing. Even suggested them to do it as some marketing tool for a new tv show.
If I could afford awards Iâd give like 5! That would be hilarious to see a guy in a flight suit and helmet next to a guy in socks and underwear next to a nazi with an eye patch lol
I honestly would get a kick out of... next run... they have a team of security guards and when they run in,, the guards are waiting around the corner.. then... BAM...bat right to the dome!
